We have rented an RV at this very special campground for 2 years in a row. We had a great time, enjoyed the peaceful and quiet setting. We loved Don and Pauline and their great hospitality. The setting and the hosts were the reason we returned in 2023. I am surprised by the negative reviews but urge would be campers to ignore the negative Nelly's and see for themselves. We will definitely return!

Wonderful stay here! Clean, quiet and friendly staff. Bathrooms were so nice, rustic light fixtures, vanity area and plenty of hot water! Campsite areas are so cozy with the solar lights, adirondack chairs and ours had a hammock.

Way too expensive for what you get. We have a 34 foot 5th wheel. The drive thrus are in the middle of the campground but uneven terrain making it difficult to stabilize and NO shade. Not user friendly for dumping (height and location) and the dumping hole is way too small (about 2-2.5 inches). 30 amps only! Far from everything meaning need the car for everything. Too far for bike trails. Forget wifi …. Nowadays everything is done or searched on internet. Washrooms: Somewhat clean but out of hot water in busy weekend. They have awesome tents that they rent. They are pretty cool inside. Overnight for big rigs ok but that’s it. Smiley staff. Don’t miss visiting ´Grotto’ closer to Tobermory! Quite impressive!

Washrooms were extremely CLEAN, down fall both days was there was little to no hot water in the showers. The owners were very friendly.

My family goes camping
every year, and this time was our first time camping in Canada.
I want to be honest about our stay compared to the other campgrounds we visited in the past 15 years.
We love tent camping so my review will be based on tent accommodation.
Sites are extremely small. Too tight. We didn't even have our nightly bonfire and smores due to lack of space.
Bathrooms are clean. They have 3 showers, but only one works well. The other ones either get us cold or scald our skin.
There's nothing fun to do on the campground. The owner in not kind at all. Actually, he is kind rude, the same way as the guy who checked us in.
I would say is so far, the worst campground we've ever visited.
It was so frustrating because we made plans, were so excited to go camping in Canada and when we got there, our expectations were crashed by what we have during our stay there.
I don't believe we go back there!

Such a lovely campsite! The owner was more than accommodating to our needs and very welcoming. Washrooms were clean and site was perfect for our group.

Just left this Campsite and it was the worst camping experience I had. This is the 3rd time my family and friends camped in this campground. The 1st 2 occasions was with the old management and I have nothing negative to say but with this current owner or management it was horrible. The man who is probably the owner or just an employee and the woman who could be the wife or another employee are extremely rude. Specifically the man he doesn't treat us like a customer that paid our dues. I totally agree with what the other camper's comments, there is discrimination and racism in the management of Maple Ridge Family campground. One example, we are just half the time of our paid stay, we were told that we can leave with pointing fingers. He doesn't even give me time to talk. He has the rudeness to the next level. IF YOU ARE SOMEONE OF A COLOR LOOKING FOR A CAMPGROUND AVOID THIS PLACE.

The management they are racist and rude at all time no good for family vacations i can't recommend this campground please don't come this campground not worthy for vacations. PLEASE DONT CHOOSE THIS CAMPGROUND

The management's behavior is discriminatory and offensive, favoring white people over other races like Asians. It is essential for the management to treat all guests equally, acknowledging that everyone pays for their stay and deserves respect and fair treatment. This kind of discrimination is unacceptable in the modern era, and they should ensure that all races are represented and treated well. As evident from negative reviews, many non-white guests have experienced mistreatment, leading to low ratings. I would advise against visiting this place due to these concerns. Do not visit this camp if you are not white.

Terrible Experience - Bogus Campsite with Rude Management and Subtle Racism

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Maple Ridge Family Camp, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. I cannot stress enough how disappointed and dissatisfied I am with this campsite.

First and foremost, the facilities were in terrible condition. The bathrooms were filthy and lacked proper maintenance. It felt like they hadn't been cleaned in ages, and the stench was unbearable. The showers barely worked, and the water was either ice cold or scalding hot. It was clear that no effort was put into maintaining the amenities.

On top of the subpar facilities, the management and staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Whenever we approached them with questions or concerns, they seemed disinterested and dismissive. Their lack of professionalism left us feeling unwelcome and frustrated.

What was even more disheartening was the subtle racism we faced during our stay. The staff's behavior towards people of certain ethnic backgrounds was discriminatory and offensive. It's disheartening to see such bigotry in this day and age, and it made our stay extremely uncomfortable.

Moreover, the campsite itself was misrepresented on their website. The beautiful images showcased online were far from reality. The location was underwhelming, and the promised activities were either unavailable or poorly organized.

Overall, my experience at Maple
Ridge Family Camp was beyond disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this campsite to anyone. The terrible facilities, rude management, and subtle racism made it an unpleasant and unsafe environment for anyone seeking a relaxing camping trip. Save your time and money, and choose a different campsite with better management and genuine hospitality.

Stayed at one of the GLAMPING CABINS and had a GREAT time! Washrooms were extremely CLEAN and serviced every day, owners were very friendly, and we had a lovely experience. Our cabin area had comfortable queen bed & pillows, warm blankets, shower towels, shampoo / conditioner, a firepit, and two Muskoka chairs. Lots of outdoor games (lawn bowling, croquet) and board games also available for borrow. Only a 25 min drive to Tobermory. Ya gotta stay here! Thank you Don & Pauline for your amazing hospitability and service!

Stayed during the Canada day long weekend. Probably the most organized campground. Everything is great. I don't understand the negative reviews.
The camp officers are very nice. The bathrooms are clean. The facilities and campgrounds are great. Have all the amenities you need for a comfortable getaway. Would definitely come back.

5/5 star experience! Much cleaner than your average campsite. Owners Don & Pauline were very friendly and hospitable to us. Affordable price and also has an office on-site that sells coffee, tea, snacks, some household and camping items. Can't wait to come back! This is the PERFECT Tobermory getaway spot for you and your family!

Not a kid friendly campground, if kids make any type of noise you get in trouble, are not allowed to have a radio on very stricked campground, they walk in on you while your showering, no privacy whatsoever ever don't recommend

We went to this campground on a last minute reservation last summer. We had a fun stay, there is a small pond, the facilities are clean and it was quiet.

Summary: Manager is not very open to questions and clarifications, and told us to cancel our reservation 1 week before our stay. Also, did not receive full refund as agreed upon.

We were a group of 8 campers who booked 2 campsites since the limit is 4 people per site. My group and I asked about the number of tents allowed in one campsite, and if it's possible to have two 4-person, or two 2-person tents in one site since one 4-person tent is quite uncomfortable for 4 adults. We were told this is not possible since the limit is 1 tent per site, which we accepted. We just needed to know what type of tents we needed to rent/buy for our stay. I gave the manager feedback about maybe having the 1 tent per campsite information more readily available in the site for future people/families looking to book reservations since it's not as apparent when it's under the Terms of Services in small font at the bottom of the site (which we missed while booking the campsite), and instead might be better to be readily available in the campsite rules or even campsite descriptions during booking. This conversation happened through a couple of emails.

A few weeks after, we asked if we could add another person to our group for a fee as mentioned on their website, "All site prices cover up to 4 campers. If you have extra campers there is an extra charge, $15/adult per night and $8/kid per night. " because we were trying to book a 3rd site due knowing the 4 person per site limit but none was available on the website (the manager then informs us through email that there is in fact another campsite available for reservation, which we were willing to book if the additional fee is not possible). The manager then calls me (clearly annoyed) and tells me they are concerned about our group because we kept trying to find loopholes and told us it would be best if we cancel the reservation and get a full refund. They kept interrupting and berating me during the call and wouldn't listen to why we needed to ask all of these questions. They told us that the additional fee is for group campsites to which I then responded that it was not mentioned on the website that this was the case, and that is why we wanted to double check in the first place. They basically told me that I've been giving them too many feedbacks (which clearly was not appreciated or welcomed). What we basically got from what they were saying was they think my group is going to cheat them. If we were planning to do that, why would we even ask these questions, and let them know about our situation in the first place? It doesn't make sense.

We decided to cancel our reservation for a full refund and found somewhere else to stay for our trip because we didn't feel comfortable staying at this campground.

Also, the refund returned to me was not full. I had to follow up through email that I haven't seen the refund on my bank account after 3 weeks from the phone call. The refund given to me was missing my payment for the firewood I purchased at the same time as booking the campsites. I even followed up about this missing money, but did not receive a reply. I'm done trying to be polite, and dealing with this establishment at this point.

There are pretty good reviews about this place, but our group didn't have a pleasant interaction with management which ultimately influenced our decision not to stay at this campground. We hope this is not the case for everyone else, and we hope this changes. Rated two stars since we didn't get to experience the campground itself, and probably never will.

A Nightmare in Nature: The Worst Campsite Experience Ever!

I recently had the misfortune of staying at the Maple Ridge Campsite, and I can confidently say it was the worst camping experience I have ever had. Everything from the facilities to the staff left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Allow me to recount my dreadful experience at this campground.

Firstly, let's talk about the campsites themselves. The designated spots were extremely wet without any camping equipment. The ground was littered with rocks and roots, making it impossible to find a comfortable spot to set up camp. It felt more like a makeshift parking lot than a serene natural environment.

Next, let's address the facilities. The restrooms were a horror show. The showers were even worse. The water was either scalding hot or freezing cold, with extremely difficult to adjust the temperature. I had no choice but to endure a subpar bathing experience or forgo it altogether.

As for the staff, their incompetence and apathy were astounding. When I approached them with concerns about the campsite conditions, they brushed me off with indifference. It was clear that they had no interest in addressing the issues or providing any form of customer service. Their lack of professionalism only added to the frustration and disappointment I felt throughout my stay. I felt a subtle racism with extreme rudeness from the staff.

Furthermore, It felt like false advertising, and I couldn't help but feel deceived. To add insult to injury, the noise levels at the campsite were unbearable. There was no enforcement of quiet hours, and rowdy campers ran amok late into the night, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. It seemed like there was no consideration for those seeking a peaceful camping experience. Additionally, when we were cooking dinner, the staff came to us saying you were making noise.

To add to these, they sell very expensive wood bags. I definitely felt like all the 1 star comments are 100% true and the management response is falsely misleading.

Overall, my stay at Campsite was a complete disaster. From the uneven campsites to the dismal facilities, unprofessional staff, and false advertising, it was an absolute nightmare. I would strongly advise anyone considering this campsite to look elsewhere for a more enjoyable and fulfilling camping experience. Save yourself the disappointment and frustration—I wish I had done the same. Rating it 1 star is being generous.

Terrible Campsite Experience: Unacceptable Treatment and Inadequate Conditions

My recent stay at this Campsite was a complete disaster. Not only did we encounter unacceptable treatment, but the conditions were also far from satisfactory. The uneven campsites provided unstable conditions for tent, and the staff's unprofessionalism was evident from the start.

Unfortunately, racism was prevalent during our stay. It was clear that some campers received preferential treatment based on their race, while others, including ourselves, were treated poorly. This discriminatory behavior is completely unacceptable and tarnished the entire camping experience.

To make matters worse, we discovered that some campers paid significantly more for their stay than we did. Despite this, we believe it is essential to treat all guests fairly and provide equal access to facilities. However, the staff seemed to prioritize those who paid more, neglecting our basic needs and limiting our use of amenities.

In summary, our experience at maple ridge Campsite was marred by racism, unequal treatment, and inadequate conditions. We strongly advise against choosing this campsite if you value fair treatment, respect, and a pleasant camping experience.

Does not deserve 1 star either, I have felt like I am being victim of racism by the management of the campground. Our camp site was not cleaned before allocation. I was compared to the person who has paid more than me and have been told many times by the manager which was the most disappointing moment that I have never faced in my life.

My husband and I tried our first glamping experience at Maple Ridge and slept in the Romantic tent. The experience was exceptional. The campground, bathroom, as well as our tent was very clean and comfortable. We were very impressed. Don and Pauline were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back:).
