Markham Bowl

Haven't been here in years and it hasn't changed a bit! Came in for the 'Old School' pricing $2/game today and was not disappointed. The place was clean, not too busy, and the staff was helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a chill few games and a nostalgic blast from the past!

Tried calling several times, once I finally got through, I spoke to someone briefly who spoke very un-clearly and without certainty, who then proceeded to hang up on me without finishing to answer my questions

The place is awesome. My autistic daughter love the glowing lights. Overall we have fun bowling!

Absolutely appalling customer service and terrible facilities. Doesn't have much going for it these days.

The music and light was excellent And not too loud. The score keeping is automatic. And there is a small arcade. I didn't use the arcade, i was having that much fun bowling.

Super disappointed. Called them to reserve a lane, the guy on the phone was super rude and just hung up when i asked a second question.when I called again to ask for the manager, he said he is the owner and hung up again. I wonder how these people don't care about potential customers.

Receptionist is not very customer friendly! He appeared to be dealing with personal stress or job dissatisfaction. No smiles, no curtsy. I had to verify and confirm repeatedly that I didn't need to rent shoes. Space doesn't look very neat, clean and appealing. My kids rented shoes but they were ripped. Overall it was a mediocre experience.

Great place to bowl but terrible customer service. The guy interrupted me in the middle of our bowling to pay when he could have easily asked before or after we started playing, in addition, he was rude to my guests when they had questions refusing to talk with any of them except me. In addition, he made an issue to have us evenly spit the bill and forced one of us to pay all of it.

I really don't understand who liked this place. It is so so outdated and it's dark and has a strange smell. It's not clean, very dindgy. Probably the worst bowling alley I've ever been to. Please do not be fooled by these reviews. You will feel like you have time traveled 40 years back. Not worth $50 an hour by any standard.

Pathetic owner, extremely rude. I just called him inquiring about the cost and details as I wanted to book a lane for my birthday. He was extremely rude and to me seemed like a racist! Outright pathetic!

I celebrated an event here and it was a ton of fun. The staff are friendly and the place is clean.

They have both ten pin and five pin. From what I saw Saturday night, the 5 pin sat empty while there was a wait for the 10 pin. They should consider more lanes for 10 pin if this is often the case.

Although our party was asked to start later because other parties came in late, the staff were really friendly and accommodating about it. They had some alcoholic beverages at the bar. They had only one cider (somersby, mango+lime flavour) for those who are gluten-free like me.

The bowling computer was confusing. There was no backspace button, so much of our party assumed the red button was "delete". The red button was to begin the game (it should be green instead). This was a bit of a delay because we could not physically input the names ourselves anymore once the game was started. But the staff at the front desk were able to input it. It was a little hectic going back and forth and I wish I knew the backspace button ahead of time. It was more than okay in the end, once everything was settled. It was very fun and I would plan an event here again.

We had fun. The staff was friendly and helpful. The darkness and the neon lights weren't our thing but that's Markham Bowl's style - 80ies disco ambience and music. I'll go there again and will enjoy it.

Nice place to bowl. However, customer service is horrible. I went with a group of 8 and our bowling balls started getting stuck when we told management they blamed us for getting the balls stuck. Very rude and one of the workers out on a mask after seeing we were all asian. Good place but bad customer service, if you can choose somewhere else.

Great place for some family fun time. I usually visit over weekends with my kid and spouse. The place has an indoor eatery with beer as well. A great place within walking distance for me and family to enjoy! Wish the shoes had a refundable charge rather than a $3 charge for every pair every time. We usually book for an hour and enjoy every minute of it. It's the experience I have that gives this place 5-stars!

We had a great time. My cousin and her partner ended up getting chicken fingers and fries. It looked like a good amount for the price.

Terrible experience from a extremely rude worker named Mike. While bowling someone in our group accidentally dropped a beer. He had come to clean up & was extremely sour about it. Then when my other friends arrived they told them our time here is up. Meanwhile we were only here for 20 mins and got two lanes & many beers. I went and spoke to mike regarding our time and how it is possible to only have 10 mins left when we just arrived. I did not even finish my first beer yet. He told us our time started when we got here however we paid for two lanes and only played one lane while waiting for friends to arrive. He was hostile told us there was nothing he can do. I asked to speak with a manager and she was nice and let us play. But i had a conversation with mike and how he should speak to customers. He was even more rude asking me do i work here and he doesnt care this is how will speak. He then was watching us constantly. Being the only people of colour here it made me thing was race a reason to his random hostile behaviour or simply because he works a job he isnt happy at. Sad. I am glad i didnt end up ordering food here.

Great place for family and small get together for a fun time. Cosmic, glow in the dark bowling for a not too bad price. Fun for both adults and kids.

This bowl has been with this community since the beginning. It has its own charm and history. Fun for all, I would encourage anyone near by to give them a try

This use to be an amazing hang out place plus fun bowling. We Came back here after 4 years and the place seemed a little dead. 5-6 times the lane got stuck due to some system error and the gentleman at the counter had to manually reset it that litreally wasted 10-12 minutes from the One hour we had purchased. We still had a good time but it could have been much better. I would say 2.5/5.

The bigotry and racism experienced by my family at this location is beyond disgusting. The owners are extremely rude and disrespectful. They wouldn't give us a lane even though the entire place was empty. They don't know how to treat their customers. Definitely not going there again.

I think this place is Awesome and have never had a problem great for friends meet up on a Friday night. I have also seen the great work by staff when the Dream community which cares for our disabled come in. I was also disturbed to see that someone had mentioned racism because I have never experienced it there and to look at someone without knowing their genetic history is wrong. At the end of the day it is all about helping each other out and teaching our children the Golden Rule which is to treat others just like you want to.be treated. Here's to another Bowling catch up with friends and a place where you feel like Family great job!

I was there yesterday when this all happened. I was behind the gentleman who stood there for 15 minutes making a scene because one of the owners would not admit that his wife or sister was wearing something on her head. My question is. If he wouldn't admit she was wearing something on her head. Then clearly he didn't notice it. Which kind of means he wouldn't have any reason to be called what you are accusing him of being. Also. To whoever wrote that the family was being escorted upstairs by the police. That is 100% False. The police arrived about 30 min after this all occurred. Although our day started out as a little awkward at the centre, my family and I would like to thank Markham Bowl for a very enjoyable Family Day. And we will be back!

Extremely rude customer service from this place. Definitely would not recommend anyone coming to this place. There's another bowling alley 15 mins away- World Bowl (Richmond Hill) with a much better service.

Was on my way into Markham bowl when I witnessed a couple being escorted out by an officer. Turns out they were mistreated by the staff, the young couple were given an unfair time since another group was prioritized even though they came much later. The officer couldn't help even though he knew who was in the wrong all he could do was escort the couple out. The manager said and I quote "since the young girl was on her phone she was seated later" which makes no sense to me she was just waiting. Also she was there first and should be served first. Just because the young girl was wearing a head scarf she was treated differently. Can't believe this is still happening in 2020 racism isn't a joke. Hearing this just ruined my night I can't go and enjoy my night at a place where other people are being treated differently just because of there culture.

Absolute racism and discrimination is what you’ll experience here. Highly recommend going elsewhere for a better bowling experience.

Horrible customer service. I wish there was an option to give a zero because they are not even worth a 1-star rating. The staff and the owners of this establishment are beyond rude. Definitely not coming back.

The sign says it’s closed at 1am on a Friday night, but the doors were locked when we came to the location at 12am. We knocked the doors to no available representative. Also called the location several times to no answer nor option to leave a voice message. Disappointing! Do not recommend at all! If I could give zero stars, I would.

UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OWNERS! Stay away from this place. The owners are messed up. Seriously, there are many other bowling places in Markham and Scarborough to go to.

We went there with 4 kids today. I had the worse experience. There was 2 staffs tonight. One of the staff a scruffy indian/south asian guy was extremely rude to us. Erroneouly the kids took on 4 seperate lanes, and they approached the kids to tell them that they shouldnt' be playing on all 4 lanes, instead of telling me. And then the scruffy indian staff approaches me and says exactly this "if you kids dont' stop playing on the other lanes we are gona kick you out" I almost dropped dead at this moment. I found this air head's comment to be extremely rude, offensive and unprofessional. I would never go back there for bowling and I will also be writting about my experience on facebook and other social media that I am involved in, so that my family and friends are also warned and avoids this place. Very unhappy with the service, and offended. I can't believe they would have unprofessional staffs such as these, how would they expect to make a profit.

This is a very unique place as it was the first time my bf meets my family. The whole atmosphere is very friendly and allow for a great time.

I had a free 2 game coupon so I decided to use it, and I have to say this place isn’t too bad. The lanes seem very old and doesn’t have a lot of oil on them compared to other places but the house balls they have are actually really good compared to other places. Usually house balls are all plastic but this place has a variety of balls, which some are actually worth money. Idk if people leave it here cause they don’t want their balls anymore or Markham bowl buys decently good balls.

We book a lane at 7. We arrived on 15 min early yet they made us wait an hour. They don’t care about customer. They overbooked and did not accommodate us.

One of the most disrespectful owners I have ever met. Shocked at how they talk to their paying customers when there is a disagreement. Went with the whole family there and the owners gave us a reservation for 3 hours from the time we got there. When asked why we can't get an earlier slot as we could see on the chart there were earlier availabilities. Was told to our face they don't have time for this right now and asked us not to create a scene when I thought we were just having a conversation. I asked for their names and they gave me a business card saying if I can read then their names are on there. I walked out with my entire family. Def not spending my money there.

M R I read your post from last night and I find it disgusting! My family were the ones on lanes beside you last night. I witnessed at least 2 of your children run down the lanes trying to kick the pins down with their feet! I was the one who approched the counter with my concerns for your children's safety. I also watched you and the other fathers who were there go for "smokes" every 5 minutes while your children were unattended. Your comments are untrue and you should apologize for what you wrote. And yes.we were the family with 19 bowlers there. We have been going there as a family for over 20 years and I find it terrible that you could actually go on here and say what you did! Again. Disgusting

Love coming here with the kids, great fun and very helpful staff. The kids always have a blast, even the littles have a great time with the gutter bumpers down.

If there was an option to I wouldn't even give them a single star. They treated me and my family horribly and with such disrespect. Racist, uttetly disrespectful and trash place. Would not recommend at all.

Haven't bowled here.tried too.called in and they told us to show up in 1 hour so we did.and they said well no lanes available for another 3 hours.

The lady sounded really rude.maybe my opinion can change next time.

Great for kids and families! Last time I went there it seemed a little dingy, but it's a nice and cozy and the staff are helpful and friendly. We also hosted a huge birthday there 2 years ago and both our child and her friends (including their parents) had an unforgettable time! They played my child's favourite movie in the party room, accommodated last-minute guests with extra food and whatever that we needed. Very experienced and efficient staff with parties. We were minding our own business and didn't pay attention to what type of clientele they mostly had. Evetutgibg seemed fine and the event went without a hitch! Thank you Markham Bowl!

It is exactly how I remember it from when I was a kid. The guy at the counter was super nice and cracking jokes while we paid and got our shoes. The counter for food and drinks is a little expensive but it’s a bowling alley. They let us stay a right until the end as well even though they had a party coming at 9, they didn’t cut us off until 5 min before which was an extra 15 than we were supposed to have.

Really bad customer service. Guy at the counter has a major attitude problem. Apparently you need his permission to talk to fellow customers (should have sign for that). And what's with the smell?

Amazing experience. Amazing customer service especially from the owner (John). John was amazing, down to earth, dedicated and very humble person. From the moment I talked to him over the phone to the moment I saw him at the place he was simply amazing and kind.
We simply enjoyed his hospitality and personality.

A bit outdated, I would recommend more adult pins and less children pins. Over half the place is designed for children.

Chances are, you won't get a lane.
Two of my friends and I went at 8: 30 to get one lane after checking the website for events.
When arriving, there was a sign on the door saying that they closed at 10 for a private.
We went to speak to the owner and he was dissmissivley rude. We asked for just one lane for an hour due to the event taking place and we were rejected.
The owner was very rude saying how he was making 4 thousand dollars for three hours and made us feel that he didn't need my patronage.
He is definitely not in the business to allow people to have fun, he just cares about making profit.
Point is, I will not be returing here and I will be passing this story on to everyone.

Ok place for kids and adults bowling. It is starting to show it's age. Could use more lights and some decor upgrades. Having more food options would help too. Service was friendly. Can get good birthday deals for kids

Fun way to spend am evening in Markham. The staff are quite pleasant and nice. We didn't have any issues but we did notice a couple lanes break down around us.

Obviously there are some nice bowling alleys around the city. Our lane kept fixating a lot. But was quickly accommodated to another lane with zero fuss.
