Markham Stouffville Hospital

It is one of the most worst hospitals in the east end. I wish I could give them a lower rating. Staff always have a terrible attitude. They are extremely rude and get agitated when people ask them even a single question. There was a 70 year old lady with me there, and she said i don't know how I'm gonna make it with all this walking. I suggested that she ask for a wheelchair. She said she was worried that the nurse would get irritated and give her a harder time. UNBELIEVABLE. I didn't have any family with me at the hospital with me, and I was unable to walk around, so I got a wheelchair. They tried to almost force me out of my chair and get me to start walking, knowing that I hadn't eaten for 2 days and was in severe pain.
Then they made me wait over 45 minutes to go for my ultrasound just because they said there weren't any porters available.
After waiting over 4 hours to see the doctor, he came into the room and was in such a rush to get the checkup over with. He didn't wait for me to even finish telling him what I was experiencing and walked out of the room in the middle of our conversation.

If this hospital wasn't the closest to my house, I would never visit her!

If you have time and can make the drive, I suggest going to any other hospital but here.

Today We have a Appointment in this hospital. I slipped in the parking lot walk way & my knee hurt. Who is this responsible.parking company or hospital?
. This Is not good for everyone. If they take parking money.should be clean all walk way for every person. So please take action specially in this weather. All drive way & walk way should be clean.

One of the worst hospitals in Ontario.
TBC. Thought Canadians were supposed to be kind and nice. Not applicable at MSH. And the citizens of Markham are terrible. I was clearly in distress after being released.c Spilt 2 full coffees at different times and everyone in the Tim Hortons area and surrounding areas just turned their heads away from me and did Nothing to assist me. Don't go there if you're dying or have a Headache.
My husband had to get by locked doors of the hospital to find me!

What a great hospital, thank you so much for looking after my mother making sure she's comfortable and especially treating her like a human being! You guys are fantastic walking in you all feel like family even tho I know nothing, thank you drs for all your hard work making my mother's experience nothing short of amazing. We may not be thru this but you've shown to be an amazing place each and every day. Thank you

I had a colonoscopy today and everyone was professional and friendly. I was not rushed at all and that helped. My questions were answered and they knew all my medical history. The nurses were caring and Dr Wu was very thorough and informative. They should all be commended!

Dr. Oyewumi is the worst, I feel worse every visit and he doesn't care at all. He just likes to hear himself talk. He withheld my diagnosis from me and had me on the wrong dosage of medication.my dose was too low to do anything to help my condition, I only found out what I had after begging the hospital to give me a new psychiatrist. So very dissapointed.

Excellent care in Labour & Delivery. One of the nurses was training, she was super amazing too.

Evangeline was my nurse in post-partum care at night, she was also super awesome. Checked on us regularly, helped us with swaddling, nursing and everything else.

Hospital administration are cruel and uncaring. They want to kick out seniors who are in need of continued attention and care that have nowhere to go just so they can free up a bed to state they have beds available. This isn't at all about health care, this is playing politics!
They want to force an old man who needs assistance getting in and out of bed to go home to a place currently being fumigated. We told them the circumstances but they don't care.

2022 had both hips replaced by Dr Evan WATTS and his team of health care professionals. Procedures required several visits to MSH for tests and assessments. All were completed quickly and efficiently. Staff were 5*.

This hospital is really really great. Within 1hr my entire family of 4 got the medicine. Really appreciate the service you guys provided.

"Dr" Lee is a sorry excuse of a psychiatrist. You just need to Google her reviews to get the truth about this "dr". I will not rest until she stops hiding and explains to me WHY she threw out my severely mentally ill son. Not even a referral. NOTHING! Her online reviews say it ALL!

PLEASE SHARE! She needs a permanent vacation - without pay!

I came to Markham Stouffville hospital emergency 17th March, 2023 around 8pm. They released around 2 30 am. In the meantime I was suffering with severe body aches, head pain, cough, fever, heavy head, mouth full of weird tastes, etc. That day I felt as if I had 0% energy.

I thought the Doctor would give me new medicine, instead she said use the same medicine that my family doctor gave me. She did not even spend 1 min. I had a few questions to ask and she answered them in a rush and I felt as if I couldn't ask them and wasn't really cared for. To my next door there were many patients, they asked many questions and got answers in a relaxed manner. Why are the doctors treating patients differently. I don't understand. I was sad, did not say anything and went home.

The nurses treated me okay by the way!

19th of March, I went to Toronto General Hospital (UHN) Emergency. Their nurses and doctors treated me very well. Two doctors spent lots of time with me. They answered all my questions patiently. The doctor said I was suffering from pneumonia and gave me new medicine (antibiotics).

The reason I write this complaint is so that hopefully this doesn't happen in the future to patients at Stouffville Hospital.

I spent over 6 hours, and was seen by a doctor for only 1 or 2 minutes at Markham Stouffville.

It was my first overnight visit to Markham Stouffville hospital, the nurses, technicians and doctors are all god send. All the nurses that I had starting from emerge are great. Yang and Tonia are two main people that dealt with in emergency are so nice. Even the triage nurse who was man had so much compassion and care in his tune that it bring tears to my eyes. Emergency doctor was also wonderful, especially with all the crowd, he never lost his patience with anyone. I didn’t hear anyone in the staff raise their voice, have a cold treatment or attitude towards me or anyone else.
My nurse Terry and other girls in the department treated me so well. The doctor was so wonderful in the department, explained everything step by step to rule out any abnormalities.
Sunny the ultrasound technician is the sweetest and most supportive. She explained everything so well and talked to me about the procedure to keep me clam.
The overall experience is really eye opening compared to many other hospitals that I been to, I have no words but gratitude for these people. I would recommend everyone to choose this hospital as you first choice for emergency walk-in. Thanks you so much for everything!

Went to MSH after falling Waited 10 min for triage 15 min to be called in and 15 min to be seen by a doctor immediate ct scan and re examination in and out 3 hours can't believe how thorough they are Thanks to the doctors and technicians at MSH

I went to see a respiratory doctor my appointment time was at 2, I went there around 1.30 still I couldn’t see a doctor I ask the staff no one bothered still waiting int the waiting area. It’s really irritating. Doctors can be busy but patients does have other important things to do I give one star because that is the least I can give

This is the worst hospital ever. The nurses are RUDE. They do not know how to draw blood, they poked me several times before drawing blood. The wait times are unbelievable, and the nurses seem like they don’t want to be here. Very bad patient care!

I have gone in to emergency with a serious cut on my leg and was bleeding terribly fast, I also suffer from a rare blood disease and a clotting disorder, they treated me immediately and followed up.with a specialist and a wound specialist and followed up untill I healed 100% I couldn't have been treated any faster or better.

Emergency department is too bad
You have to wait for 7 hrs just to know ur results patient will get more sick by coming here
Ontario needs to work on emergency services

Excessive wait times in Emergency department. Diabetic senior left sitting in a waiting room for almost 7 hours not allowed food or drink in the waiting room, not even water. Not allowed to leave waiting room for air or water. Cruel. Needed a simple CT scan after a fall was all. Horrible experience.

Absolutely terrible emergency room. I've never encountered such rude staff members In a triage before. Instead of helping people to register as quickly as possible the women sit behind the desk and check there phones and talk to each other. I would highly suggest more training for the triage staff members. There needs to be a manager watching these women as it shouldn't take 2 hours to Register a patient if the waiting room isn't that busy. No ultrasound technician at night so basically wasted my time. What kind of hospital does that.

Unbelievable

This is a huge hospital with huge parking areas around. The public parking is $16 per day or $4 per half hour. Staff are kind and helpful. This is accessible by viva York region bus.

I had a couple of good experiences here, and nice doctors, apart from that, not good. I gave it a 2 star not because of the doctors or nurses, but the system and perhaps politics here. The energy is so negative, everyone hates everyone here. So I am guessing the system or management plays a big role here. It's a nice hospital, it is a waste seeing how bad it is being managed. Not sure if it was budget issue or something else. Whatever it is, hope it will be improved soon.

The Oak Valley cold, flu, and covid clinic at Markham Stouffville Hospital is amazing. You need to pay for parking but worth it.

Our family can not be more thankful to all the amazing staffs who helped my dad on his final days. The services were exceptional with utmost care, kindness and love. The ER, paramedics and especially the doctors, day nurses and night nurses in the ICU department. We want you to know you were there for our family throughout and from the bottom of our hearts we like to thank you all. You listened and informed us when we needed help the most. Many thanks and we hope to give back any way we can. THANK-YOU.

I’ve been here as a patient, and also in a business standpoint as a funeral director. In both instances this hospital was terrible. As a patient the wait times are ridiculous and they don’t ask why your there until you’ve already waited 4 hours to be triaged. From a business standpoint this hospital is extremely disorganized and can’t even find a correct MCOD, and when they do find it it’s spelled incorrectly and not signed by the physician. This place needs a serious revamp. And the parking is way too expensive.

Hospital is great but some of its people are not very compassionate and understanding. Like DR. KIM. Stroke clinic. Apparently my dad doesn’t have stroke but we keep having to follow up for this 3hour appointment. Its a lot to accommodate taking elderly to the hospital as a working mom. We were 8 minutes late because my dad is 88years old and I have a newborn. I asked politely multiple times and they kept rejecting us. It was one of those days we just couldn’t be early. We are humans. But the way we were treated and rejected without an ounce of grace made us highly disappointed. They can be late and not care or respect your time but you can not dare do that to the hospital.

Great hospital! The staff is very friendly and attentive. It also is very clean and easy to navigate. Lots of parking space within good walking distance of each hospital entrance. You’re in good hands while here!

My Day Surgery Unit /Outpatient Procedure Suites experience: Once I stepped in the department, I knew right way I will be well take cared, the nurses are super friendly and supportive, also very patience to answer all your concerns! Scheduled surgery at 10: 00am, went on around 10: 30, anaesthesia put me on “vacation “within 10 seconds, 1: 15 woke up by nurse and offered some drinks, 2: 00 pm out of the hospital. The whole procedure is so smooth and relaxing as long as you follow nurses instructions. Dr Renee Chouinard and her team are amazing, I’m so glad chose Markham stouffville, thanks you again for all the staff, nurses and physicians!

I had a truly horrible experience at the hospital. I urge people to look elsewhere for care.

I had a highly painful surgery but my experience with staff was much MORE painful. From medically gaslighting me to discharging me 5 minutes after I had just projectile vomited everywhere and had just received a catheter for urinary retention as a complication of my surgery. I was asked to rate my pain and when I said 10/10 I was told that it was impossible. I was then asked to take an Ativan (this is stress medication as they did not take my pain seriously and said i'm probably just stressed).

Day surgery then discharged me as they 'were closing and wanted to go home'. I couldn't even make it to the outside door despite trying and had to lay down. On the floor. In the hall. Crying. They finally admitted me.

I was later admitted to the hospital for 5 days. That experience was even more horrifying. From hearing staff members discussing purposely making an elderly patient wait longer to teach her a lesson as she thinks she's the 'only patient in the world'. To me asking for my catheter to be able to urinate which I couldn't on my own and being told to wait (they don't come back for 45 mins) then starting to pass out from the pain while trying to help myself to no avail.

The negligence. Lack of care and cruelty that I experienced is astounding. I hope that no one else has to experience this.

Go elsewhere.

Markham stouffville really let me down today, had an appointment with the fracture clinic at 8 am
Was asked to be there 15 minutes early, then I watched the waiting room fill and empty twice, and when it finally started to fill a third time, and they called me at 8: 57am,
Then I went to leave and parking wanted 16$ for parking from 7: 30 to 9: 11, most people only make minimum wage.the hospital shouldn't be able to charge for parking, when they always find a reason to make you stay longer to pay more parking, also they shouldn't be able to charge parking when they consistently over
book appointments and have you waiting for 2 to 3 hours to start your scheduled appointment, the paid parking has given the hospitals a liscense to steal
