Mary Brown's Chicken

I adore Mary's. So freaking tasty! Great chicken burgers which I always get. I can't comment on the regular chicken as I love their original chicken burger, their taters and their homemade gravy! It's really a takeout place although you can eat in but the atmosphere is just regular.

I ordered a Big Mary with taters last night at 8 pm and boy did I regret it at 2 am…. My stomach and insides are still upset st 9 am. I love to go there when I am in St John’s but will never visit this location again!

Place was lacking education it the mind department these people are NPCs the cashier, yes friendly but slow as a sloth and the cooks were laughing about people not getting there food. Personal i would not recommend this place to eat go to like any other place.

I come here from time to time & the food is usually ok to good. Last night i ordered the spicy chicken, 3 piece meal & 2 out of the 3 pieces were extremely covered in salty seasoning. Our opinions of restaurants are shaped by our last experiences.

Amazing service. Big shoutout to Pavny (I think her name is) 5* for sure. Thanks for her hard work and also the staff in the kitchen.

The food is great, but it’s real hard to recommend when I placed an order for 2 sandwiches at 8: 20PM and I still don’t have my food 40 minutes later.

So this complaint is going to the new Mary Brown's on 10th Line their so-called manager is very impatient to someone that has medical mental health problems so I feel discriminated I was told yesterday that I was going to get my availability and I never even got a phone call or a text or an email and I wasn't going to get paid for the training that I did I fine the manager over there very intimidated and he picked favours just because somebody has mental health issues has no reason just roll them aside like a piece of trash and I really think that's hurtful and that should not be called for and I will be calling the Better Business Bureau today

I have ordered Mary Brown's Chicken's (located on 1615 Orléans Blvd. K1C 7E2) 9 piece feast for quite some time, but today it was a real disappointment. At about noon, I was the only customer in the store which was a sharp contrast to the many times I was in the store before when people were lining up at that time.

When I got home, I found the large Taters was missing so I drove back to the store, and got the large Taters. Back home again, the taste of all food seemed queerly different, for one thing it had too much salt to a level like you just ate salt itself, particularly for the Taters as if it were specifically treated with an extra layer of salt, which was completely different from what I had experienced before.

The above was just my experience which I hope it would be helpful for other customers and for the store to improve its services and food quality in the future.

Prepare for long wait when you order here and their HVAC needs more hard work I guess, as you can smell chicken cooking as soon as you enter.
Some of the staff are not professional and prefers to talk with themselves while the line is waiting. I waited for 5 minutes that someone will pay attention, but the girl was so busy talking and laughing that she occupied kitchen staff as well while others were working hard to attend other customers and filling orders.
I picked food from this location many times, but have similar experience most of the time.
2 out of 10 times, the food was ready before I reached there and 8 times waiting and waiting.
Couple times, a staff member apologized for long waits, which was a nice gesture from her.
So, it is bad and good experience.

The chicken was moist and I love the spices in the breading. I discovered that I like the French fries even better than their taters.

I ordered a sandwich combo, chicken finger combo and a 6 pc chicken at 7pm at night to be picked up at 8: 25. I arrived at the store at 8: 23 where about 10 customers were all just standing around looking confused, none of the staff seemed interesting in helping anyone.

8: 35: I finally just walk through the crowd and ask if my order (which was supposed to be ready at 8: 25) was ready. One of the employees asked for my name checked a ticket and said it was being made and would be ready soon.

8: 50: I return to the counter after watching people come into the store, order and leave. I watched UBER orders come into their system, get filled and leave. I ask again if there is something wrong and if my order is coming. She looked again and said it would be out shortly.

8: 57: My ticket is the last on the pass and I can see them looking over their shoulders at me and then hand the ticket over the pass to the kitchen staff. I enquire what that was all about and they inform me the kitchen didn't have my order.

9: 05: All the lights get turned off front of house, staff are leaving, its just me, my 10 year old and a few staff staring at the pass waiting for the food.

9: 07: My food finally arrives. 42 minutes late. Its okay though, they made it up to me by making sure the french fries were stone cold and saying sorry. That's it, no refund, nothing extra. When I asked, the worker informed me the manager had "just left" and they couldn't do anything for me. Just sorry.and cold fries.

Chicken was okay, wont be returning. Go to KFC.

Just a quick edit to say I responded to the email that was provided by the response from the owner below and they never got back to me. I would say that they are just saying they want to fix the situation and this is not the quality they expect but its just lip service.

Finally decided to give Mary Brown’s in Ottawa a try.
Found the chicken very greasy and the salad sizes a joke. Both containers of salad when tapped down were little over half full.
Gravy was very good so was the Crispy Chicken Twist Buffalo, just needed the dip that wasn’t with the order.
Unless we are in Newfoundland, this will be the only time we order.

Waited 20 minutes for a big Mary combo and received stone cold fries, brought them back only to be handed even colder French fries from the same batch.

BEST chicken burger in town! Smoky, sweet, spicy + mayo + pickle, makes for an amazing unique taste! And Mary Browns is CANADIAN! From Newfoundland! No wonder it's over-the-top delicious!

I showed up there at 8: 25 pm (they close at 9pm) Only to be told they didn't have enough chicken to make our order. I have had this same issue with many of the restaurants in the orleans, ON area. Either they close early or don't have enough inventory to fulfill an order. Shamefully bad business practices.

This chicken is insanely good! I'm just sad I can't order 10 chicken skins to go lol the crunchy breaded skin is to die for. I haven't tried the wedges but the fries were good with gravy. I'll be back for more that's for sure.

Uncooked raw potato wedges. The customer service had attitude. The bun was cold. Chicken was mid. Wouldn't recommend.

Front lady had an attitude problem! Ordered diet Pepsi got Regular Pepsi, potato wedges were raw and uncooked, burger bun was cold, Chicken was dry! Not going again first and last time!

Love the chicken, like old school KFC but they have kids running it. Today there was a 30 minute wait for chicken? Like how does a chicken restaurant forget to make chicken? Too bad

Hate to dis them because they did give us free chicken (end of day, unsold) but regular chicken was bland. Spoken to folks who have been to other local stores and found chicken to be quite tasty. Maybe next time.

Mary browns is usually amazing. This location however is a mess. Disorganized and unprofessional.

It was fairly busy during the dinner rush, though it did not take long to get our order. The food was was fresh and hot. The only negative was that there is 1 napkin for 2 people. It wasn't a one of, as the folks across from us also complained. The music was loud for a dining establishment. Will likely only do take out going forward. All in all, the food was great!

I ordered 4 pieces dinner and got a thigh, breast, drum stick, and wing. Which is exactly what should be in my opinion. Thw chicken was delicious, and the pieces were well sized

Love this chicken, some of the best chicken around, would never eat KFC, kfc is bunk compared to this

Love Mary Brown's chicken but tonight we ordered 13 pieces and taters and only got 12 pieces of which 4 were drumsticks after a very long wait to pick-up. Quite disappointing

Ordered from there and got super sick from the chicken sandwich. I hope am the only one with that expérience and they read this plus make sure the cooks know. Not cool

Went during my lunch to pick up a 3 piece meal. Ended waiting approx. 20-25 minutes for my order. I noticed several customers who ordered after me get their food so i told the cashier i only had 5 minutes left on my break to eat and inquired when my order would be ready. She then asked the kitchen staff about my meal and they packed it up quickly as if they had forgotten about my order. Not happy, this was almost a week ago. I also sent my feedback to their customer care on the back of the receipt with no response. Will not be ordering here again, the food is not worth the wait or lack of customer service.
