Masrawy Fine Egyptian Catering/ Masrawy Kitchen

I'm from that place in Egypt where tourists don't go, where moms and uncles spend countless hours curating some of the most traditional recipes like if their lives depended on it ; Debating on where to buy the balady bread, which timing is the best to cook the falafel and what is the best bean to tahini ratio for an optimal fuul mudammas. And I absolutely love this place. Everything they serve is authentic, legit Egyptian family food.

These are the dishes your mom would serve, when she has the time to cook for you on a special occasion. The dishes you want to finish even when you're not hungry. There is a twist here: the chef behind all the recipes (the mother of the family managing the business, as I understand it) has a trick: she takes traditional recipes from the Egyptian household and elevates it in a subtle way.

The kunafa is not the simple one with nuts and cream, but meets fresh mango in a perfect match. The macarona béchamel is not all mixed with the meat, but carefully assembled, with a textbook French béchamel wrapping the pasta on top and a confit minced meat sauce on the bottom of the pot. The Oum Ali does not use soggy bread but fetir, an Egyptian layered bread that keeps its texture even when patiently soaked in infused milk for hours.

My theory, growing up with two briliant parents always cooking for us, is that you only go to the restaurant to discover something you don't typically cook at home or that takes so much time to prepare.but Masrawy gave me an occasion to re-discover the food I grew on and even challenge my cooking skills, having me spend hours in the kitchen to match the excellence of some of the dishes. That's how good it actually is.

Sadly (for us), I don't go anymore. Everytime I try to go with the family, it's either fully booked (really happy for them) or they ask for a 50$ reservation, which I usually can't do when I'm in the car or taking care of the kids, even if it took a bit of time to adjust to a culture where it's acceptable to wait outside of a restaurant or plan in advance where you want to eat days ahead. ;-)

So we usually want to go to Masrawy but end up going somewhere else, which is fine as we discover other things.

Still, I absolutely recommend this restaurant and, if I may say, food (however delicious it is) is just one of the reasons to support Masrawy, as they are a fair, generous, inspiring business, always available to help local communities and supportive of social causes.

I hope they continue succeeding in everything they do.

What a special place! We went here for our first taste of authentic Egyptian food and were not disappointed. The Masrawy Fusion blew us away with how delicious it was - they weren't kidding when they said on the menu that it's the dish everyone is talking about. Their dips were also some of the best I've had. Portion sizes are amazing and it was so reasonably priced too! We went early on a weeknight and walked right in, but by the time we left it was getting quite busy. We will absolutely be back to try more of their delicious food.

Egyptian cuisine - with its rich history and tradition - is one of the must-have cuisines in the world. In the GTA, thanks to the large and growing Egyptian diaspora, we have quite a few decent options to try the cuisine.

Masrawy is a fantastic option for Egyptian tastes in the West suburbs. It is not Maha’s - the place that single-handedly placed Egyptian on the Toronto food map - but Masrawy can hold its own against many other competitors.

Try their breakfast/brunch options including the Basterma Balady and the Pharoah.

Ic you are adventurous, do try their Molokhoya - the green gelatinous soup that is an Egyptian staple. It is different than anything you would have tried before (guaranteed) and quite delicious. The less adventurous can try their kababs as well.

Whenever I want to be transported back to Cairo — I order the koshari here. I also enjoy the fuul sandwiches.

Great food and friendly staff. One thing I would suggest is to allow time between serving soup and main dishes. They brought both at the same time.which meant that by the time we finished the soup, the main course was cold!

OMG, what a disappointment. So sorry guys but perhaps I came at a bad time. Perhaps my expectations were high. The Foul sandwich was.what can I say. I had better canned Foul. The Flafel/Tamyya were below expectations, the price wasn't reasonable, and worse, we got the wrong order. The staff were friendly and apologized for the confusion, and that's the reason I'm going to give the place another try in the future.

My wife and I tried their breakfast and we loved it. Everything tasted great and was fresh, especially the ful and tameya. Service was also good.

We were at this restaurant last nonth, food was just OK, order the breakfast, every order fill with tons of Potatos, there is nothing special, cost CN$40 per person, just the breakfast!
Tables were dirty.

An experience out the ordinary and definitely exceptional. We arrived to Masraway and the cuisine was about to close. The manager (the lady during the Night Shift on Aug 9) had the kindness to offer and prepare for us take outs. That was an extreme level of customer service skills and professionalism that I’ve never experienced in Canada and appreciate the staff’s efforts.

Always a good meal when you go to Masrawy. Amazing service and food. Big portions, well seasoned. Get the Chicken Tikka, the Chefs Platter, and always a Mo Salah coffee to finish your meal

Came here with some friends, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Osman was very friendly and even offered to refill our coffees while we waited for our food. Will definitely be back.

Vary bad customer service and the food was bad. I had omali and it was like bread with hot milk with no nuts. This a first and last visit.

Starter: mini chefs platter which had 3 different hummus dip with pita and salad
Main course
Lamb chops which came with the rice and salad. (I JUST WISH THEY COOKED IT WELL DONE)

First time trying this place and honestly I’m pretty impressed! Food was delicious and the atmosphere was so nice. Our server Usman was super friendly and also very helpful. Definitely recommend coming to Masrawy if your looking for a good lunch dinner place with friends or family!

Great service and delicious food. Got take out once and delivery the second time. Highly recommend the dips (especially the fava bean one!) and grilled meat platter! The lentil soup is also excellent. Warm and comforting and perfectly seasoned - highly recommended for winter days!

To the owner: please give me a call. I ordered two lamb tonight. Found a long hair in my rice and only moments later my girlfriend found a short black hair in her sauce. The chances of this happening are supposed to be little to none. But the fact we both found hairs makes me think how much more hair is really in your dishes.

I love this place! Excellent service and delicious food. We tried the Koshary, Bashamel, Mumbar and they all tasted great.

The place is nicely decorated and is clean. The staff are very friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend it and will be coming back to try more of their food for sure.

Terrible customer service. After multiple chances they have ruined my pick up order EVERY TIME. Order for pick up only if you have another 30 mins to stand and wait for your food! This has now happened to me 4 times. And there was no discount or anything

I really hate to leave bad reviews but the service here is extremely slow service. The worst, part, however, was that we waited 50 minutes for just French fries. I went here with a group. There was a loud music playing and it was really good but way too loud as we couldn't hear one another speak. Good food, but management should make changes!

I want to give one star, because I was ordering food once in a every week, each time they messing up my order one time they forgot to put salad, another time they forgot naan which I pay superately, the owner was not professional, even counter employees they are using fake names.this is not right.don’t want to go again. If you guys order plz check before you take home.

Visited twice this week. 1st on last Wednesday for dinner: Koshary and Hawaoshi both extremely well prepared. Good service and hospitality.
Then today Sunday morning for breakfast. We were 8. Service was good bit of confusion for what we were served.but later all sorted out. Most of is ordered Pharaoh and Basterma Balady both excellent. Their website states they start at 9: 30 am but actually they open at 10 am

Tonight was my first time ever ordering from this restaurant. I ordered Koshary.

The portion is huge. It’s probably meant for two people. It’s very tasty and well packed.

I will definitely be ordering from here again.

As an Egyptian, I'm always reluctant to try Egyptian cuisine in Canada for fear of disappointment. My family and I decided to give masrawy a shot last night and we were definitely not disappointed! The food tasted exactly like the restaurants in Egypt! The staff were upbeat and friendly, and fun, and everything was prepared perfectly. Will definitely be back for more!

Excellent place to eat. The food is fresh and extremely delicious. The staff are helpful and very friendly. The restaurant is clean and has a lovely ambience. The price is fair for what you get. Best calamari I've tasted in a very very long time. Fries are exquite, beautiful flavour, lamb is yummy, chicken is so good. Staff really do cater to your needs. My first introduction to Egyptian food was through this place and I was not disappoint. The lamb was well done and the food was well seasoned to taste. It is a little on the expensive side which is it's only down point but overall it was a really good experience. Highly Recommended

I came in to pick up my order and when i tell u i was greeted by prolly one of the best employee i have met since the pandemic started was this girl working on cash aya, people have been really rude when customers do pickup orders during the pandemic, but my visit to Mississauga and to this restaurant was the highlight of the week because i havent met such an outgoing, lively and helpfull employee ever, so from me i highly recommend this restaurant its food and the atmosphere

Great place to get a taste of the best egyptian dish in my opinion, koshary. Its a delicious vegetarian dish with rice, macaroni and lentils. Served with a side of garlic and tomato sauce that tastes great when mixed in. The serving size is also quite large and enough for two people. Another great dish is the masrawy fusion which is a typical shawarma on the rocks dish but the sauces they have are great and so is the quality of the meat.

Top notch dining experience. Never a bad experience whether dining in, delivery or take-out. Great food! Fresh ingredients and authentic taste. Terrific portions. Staff is super friendly and the owner takes personal pride making sure you'll be a repeat customer.

Food is always hot fresh and very tasty, service in restaurant is good. Had the mixed grill and kanufa for dessert. Amazing. One thing I can recommend you do is turn down the volume On the music so you can hear people while taking orders on the phone. Keep it up.

Great place to get a taste of Alexandria, Egypt.

Ingredients are fresh, authentic middle eastern. Add to the mix great staff and customer service and this makes it a lethal combination to beat.

Consistently serves great food. Their fish dishes are worth recommending and you will be surprised to hear that their vegetarian options are also worth mentioning.

They will even customize to your catering needs and tastes.

Chicken was good but rest of the food was alright.nothing special to go back for. However service was not as expected. Waiters can't keep up with the busy tables.
We were group of 6 and payed seperatly. There was no service but the waiter automatically added 18% tip automatically to our bill. I find this to be odd and unusual. I would understand if there was service and we wouldn't have to find someone to give us a menu and then take our order.

I was contacted by the restaurant and they apologized for the error on their system. It was resolved and they decided to refund me. I was told that their system changed and they are working in improving their services, etc. However, we agreed to put the money in donation for a good cause. I really appreciate the gesture and care put into resolving this matter.

I recently had dinner at the Masrawy Egyptian Kitchen. It was a wonderful experience. Everything was great about my visit and I would rate my experience at a 10 out of 10. The atmosphere was authentic, the service was great, and the food was exceptional. I would recommend the Hawawshi dish (meat stuffed pita) and Umm Ali for dessert. The Moe Saleh coffee was strong and full of flavour. I also found prices to be quite reasonable.

Mohammad Saleh, the owner, made us feel at home. I would absolutely go again.

I have been here personally many times and have referred many others to go try their cuisine whether you are Egyptian or not. The food is simply fantastic and the catering is just as good. Masrawy catered a small wedding ceremony and it was great. The delivery was great, the preparation was great, the taste was great and the response from the guests about the food was also great. Definietly a place to try whether to stop by with your significant other or group. Absolutely a place to try when you have an event and need some catering. The catering menu is vast and the owner is very flexible on determining what would be the best options for you for your event.

Great Egyptian food with the original taste and the staff are very friendly. Went there a few times with friends and I can't have enough of their food. Our waitress, Sina had very good customer service skills and a very friendly attitude.

We enjoyed breakfast here today, it was good- after a long time I got an opportunity to enjoy my favourite Egyptian bread. The food was okay, the cleanliness was on average, the service was also good but not excellent. I would give them four star
