Massage Matters

My appointment was on 20th December. One of the worst massages I’ve ever had. I just felt uncomfortable and none of the issues I talked about were addressed. The oil used has caused some sort of reaction on my back and has lead to rashes. Would not recommend this place.

Tiaura was spectacular to work with. Constantly making sure she’s applying the amount of pressure you feel comfortable with and a great personal massage technique. A nice lady that’s quite experienced in the RMT world.

Ladies at the front desk are also understanding and helpful.

I have been a client for many years. My original RMT moved away and I worried that I wouldn't find another that was as good but thankfully I found Nancy. Nancy is a talented RMT and her therapy has helped me immensely with chronic pain. I would recommend her without reservation and in fact, many of my friends are now clients as well. On top of that, she is a wonderful person which is always a plus. You won't regret having a massage with Nancy, trust me!

I had an OK experience here. Slight mix up at the start with massage therapists, then my therapist didn't really focus on my area of complaint and after the massage when you're supposed to be relaxed, I found out that they couldn't connect to my insurance so had a surprise full payment to make (not completely their fault, but not a nice surprise)

Massage was fine however environment is very noisy. I'm trying to chill and all I hear for 90 minutes are people laughing and talking

Had a great experience here, especially when compared to my other experiences while searching for a Toronto massage spot. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a RMT in the downtown area.

Professional and very knowledgeable staff. I’ve tried both the massage and chiropractic services, found them to be very helpful especially when both are combined. Definitely worth getting a membership which allows you to pay monthly and then use it as credits towards services. On thing to be mindful is that insurance won’t cover the monthly fees, only the actually billed appointments

Nathan RMT is fantastic, but away on travel. I miss Shawn and wish he still practiced here. He is the owner. I see Keith now and he is very friendly and professional

I read all bad reviews for this place before coming here, and turns out that non of them were because of bad massage.

Most of them were complaints from cheap people for tipping, and second, noise from the stairs above (there's also a warning sign at the entrance asking people not to stump). If a little bit of noise is disturbing your inner peace, you should look for a different kind of help.

I really enjoyed my time here. Massage was great, interior was warm and cozy.

Honestly no complaints.

Where to begin.

I arrived more than 15 minutes early as instructed, but my masseuse didn't arrive until more than 10 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. There were "mechanichal issues" with the massage beds causing them to lower throughout the session. This required her to raise the bed up a dozen tines, interrupting the massage. Given the lateness and tech issues, did she add the missed time to the massage? Nope. Done promptly to the minute of the original end time.

The masseuse talked constantly during the session, making it extremely difficult to relax. If that wasn't bad enough, she began expounding about her political and ideological views. She had no idea of my personal ideals or views, and it grossly crossed a line. You should never, ever do that when you have someone in a vulnerable state, it was and is appaling.

The actual massage was okay at best, but the litany of other issues made the experience terrible. At the end the receptionist asked how much I would like to leave as a gratuity, in front of multiple other clients. I had to stifle a laugh from the sheer audacity of it.

I'm sure there is some regulatory organization I can file a complaint with, and that's my next stop. Oh, and take the overly positive reviews with a grain of salt, you don't know where they come from.

So happy I found this place for massages! Morgan was amazing. I have been there twice now and joined the massage club. I normally go get massages for the “spa experience” but honestly this was the best massage I’ve ever had.

I'm very disappointed in the service I received on Sept 7. I'm new to the area and thought I'd try this place based on location and reviews.

My massage was great and the only issue with that was the noise I could hear next door. No surprise as I read this complaint in other reviews.

My issue was with the receptionist. I have been getting massages for 8 years and have never experience this level of unprofessionalism. After my massage, she asked if I wanted to leave a tip for my RMT. It was quiet and the RMT was next door so she definitely heard as well as the person sitting in the waiting room. I was taken aback. Usually you have the option to tip when you pay on the machine or you can put cash in a separate envelope. Either way, RMTs are professionals and just as you don't tip your doctor or dentist, you do not need to tip your RMT. I felt so uncomfortable and coaxed into tipping. I asked her if I could just do it on the machine and she said she needs to input the amount separately. Then I asked if I could put cash in an envelope and she said she needs to take the cash from me and put it in a folder. At this point, I knew I was never coming back here so I just handed her a $10 bill, to which she responded "just 10? " I WAS IN SHOCK. I wasn't planning on tipping at all, and now that I have, she was questioning the amount? So extemely unprofessional.

Terrible customer service, they obviously want your money at any cost. Be cautious whatever you sign with them! They have a policy:)

Unfortunately, the quality of air, light and level of noisy fans took away from my capacity to relax. Also, can not trust their 'direct billing' again.

Massage Matters is located in the basement of a historic building — it’s nothing fancy, but it’s clean and cozy. Oftentimes you’ll hear loud footsteps from customers walking up and down the stairs during your massage.

There is a mixed assortment of therapists (some are great and some are awful), but they have done a pretty good job of finding quality ones, though they seem to have had problems with therapist turnover in the past.

The customer service is friendly and efficient, and the place is priced reasonably.

Overall this is my go-to massage place and I recommend it if you can find a good therapist.

Kasia is an amazing RMT and is very knowledgeable and helpful answering my questions, and showing me tips for at home care too! Highly recommend.

Great masseuse (Stellar job, turn the table warmer on, brought me water & gave me feedback about problem areas.

Terrible experience - RMT used gloves; banging chair all over the place and continuously massaged my arms even though that was the problem area to be focused on. Furthermore, there was loud distracting noises coming from reception. Definitely not a relaxing atmosphere. RMT was extremely inexperienced and I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Just had my first appointment with Massage Matters today. It was great! Malissa was knowledgable, thoughtful and showed me some simple stretches for my problem areas at the end of the appointment. Certainly would recommend. They have a great online booking system too.

I've been coming here for over a year and truly think it's one of the best in the city. Friendly and knowledgeable, online bookings, great ascetic to the place, and a cute pup in the waiting room. Unfortunately I don't work or live nearby anymore, otherwise I'd still be a regular.

The practitioners are all very friendly, knowledgeable and skilled and I always leave feeling better than when I went. Great little office with large hearts! From the reception desk to the RMTs, great service from the moment you step into the office.

I've regularly used chiropractor and RMT services at Massage Matters for several years now, and I wouldn't go anywhere else! I go less often these days, because I feel much better overall. All of the RMT's have provided excellent care, so I am happy to take whichever appointment time is available when I need it. The staff were incredibly kind to me following my car accident, the whole team really cares about healing people.

Friendly and professional staff. Great flexibility for booking and maintaining appointments. Direct insurance billing makes it all very easy. Very good hours. The membership option is great if you plan to use their services often.

Facility is clean and always welcoming and their direct billing, booking, emails and overall convenience is fantastic. The best place, people, and service in the city (maybe even the world, I don't know). Honestly, the care and the individual plans they put into place for each client is incredible. And they yield results.

I have been a patient here for over 5 years now. I love their staff! This spa/clinic is located near my work and is in a historic building. All of the therapists are amazing. I have major back issues from a car accident and this place has been my little treat to myself every now and then. The tables heat up, the rooms have old STONE walls and they play very relaxing music. You have an option of getting a membership where you can get massages monthly for a way cheaper rate than anywhere else nearby. Every one of my massages have ended with some recommended exercises and flavoured water. I highly recommend.
