Mastermind Toys

Can anyone else share if they were informed about gift card/store credits suddenly not longer being valid to use after Dec 24th, 2023?

-Did anyone receive a warning email?
-Were signs posted on the stores of Mastermind to inform customers of what was to come reagrding this?
-shopping in store, was anyone advised this was going to happen and when?

I know I did not have any notice. I found out through Christmas eve dinner chat.
Apparently it was mentioned on the news once.
I have copious gift cards. Money was put on these.
To treat consumers and your loyal customers like this is disgraceful and shameful.
Individuals who still have gift cards that currently can no longer be redeemed, should ban together and insist compensation for the money Mastermind is keeping. Masterming is withholding and not honoring consumers money put on gift cards without giving the exchange for products/goods/services.
Mastermind was not forthcoming or transparent regarding this rather sudden, quietly kept news of the inability to use gift cards as of Dec 24th. However, you sure can still shop and pay cash, debit and credit! They just won't take your gift cards!
They deliverably kept this quiet and did not make it easily and FAIRLY known to the consumers.

I would not but one single item from this company on a go forward, regarless of their closing "sales and discounts".

Shame on this company.

Closed before 6pm, I hope corporate or management is aware of this. I guess I will take my business elsewhere.

I can't speak for all locations, but the team at the Hurontario location are awesome!

Karla specifically went out of her way to ask if we needed help & made some great suggestions that lined up with our gift search.

The service listed above might seem underwhelming, but great customer service is become scares post pandemic. Karla was super friendly, knew where everything was & she was very knowledgeable.

Cashier was also great. Signed up for Mastermind Perks. Never knew about it. And Karla wrapped our gifts.

They did not update their open hours online and when we went to the store the workers wouldn’t talk to us.we drove an hour.they were so rude.

Visited the store for the first time and was not dissapointed at all! Had great stuff for kids Which are affordable and amazed by why I havent been here before. Very friendly staff, helpful and great customer service. Gift wrapping is a life saver! Keep up the good job guys, will return for sure.

I was at the store Today Nov. 25, not 100% sure who the manager was but all the staff were Amazing and cheerful and welcoming. Even though I had a small issue was resolved immediately and definitely wanting to go back and shop here more other than going to the huge Toysrus right across the street. Anyways,

So I just RAN into this store in a panic because I mixed up the date of a 7 year old birthday party and was really late. I can't remember the name of the girl who helped me because I was on the brink of tears, but she found my gifts and had them wrapped in less than 5 minutes.probably 3 minutes. Wow! This store is fantastic and I will always return to this location. I only wish I could remember the girl's name because she was amazing and saved me today!

They listed their closing hours wrongly and made us drive all the way only to find it closed

I visited the store today to buy the polar express holiday train“ after asking over the phone for a price match”
Luckily I was able to find it there but price matching didn’t go smoothly especially with (Marry) the manager, looked so annoyed to do it. I didn’t feel any welcoming or ease to ask for a price match! In the future I will avoid going shopping there if I am considering any price match, But definitely will do more shopping from mastermind.

Went here for Eid presents it was a complicated mission especially when shopping for 20 kids. Lots of nephews and nieces. Tash immediately recognized my stress and asked if I need any help. She was incredible with her suggestions. Along with Nabiha I was in and out within 30 minutes with over 20 perfect gifts bought and all within budget. Thanks to those two lovely ladies.

They even wrapped the presents with the wrong papers and took it all off and switched it for me.

Tash is an example of an excellent customer service and her leadership shows in the store.
I will be coming back for many more Eids to come.

They should have a toy drive through. I shopped, paid, they wrapped.out in 15mins, and I took most of the time just trying to decide on gift.

I visited this place last week and absolutely loved my experience there. It was my first time and the girl who was helping me was so friendly. Her name was nabiha, she was so well mannered polite and very patient and she helped me around so much till I found the right toy to buy. If I will visit again it’s because of her. The other staff members were very stiff but overall experience was good. The products mastermind carries were quite different than what you will normally find in other stores.

Amazing staff. I went for a curbside pickup and my daughter threw up in the car. I asked the associate who brought out my order if I could have a plastic bag. She brought me several bags, a cloth, tissues and a water bottle.

Great variety of toys for kids all ages. I really liked the fact that here you can find some fabulous educational toys to stimulate children's mind. Personally it was the first time in that store but for sure I will be returning.

I love shopping at mastermind, I have always had a positive experience at my local shop. I ended up placing an order this Saturday and did curbside pickup at this location. The order was prepared quickly and Sunday I went to get my order. When I came home, there was an item missing. I understand sometimes these things happen. I contacted the store on Monday and spoke to the assistant manager who didn't seem to be upset or apologetic. I was actually taken aback by her demeanor, I work in a managerial role and would never be so cavalier with my clients. As much as I have to understand mistakes happen, she also has to understand the customer. In my particular case I had to arrange childcare to get the order and drive out 30m to this location, only to have to return again.

As the items were purchased on gift card, I have to physically go back to the store for either a refund or for them to issue me a store credit.

Upon calling the second time, the sales associate was delightful and a pleasure to speak with. I think she would be a better candidate for a managerial position.

I'll shop at mastermind, just not this location.

Love shopping at Mastermind Toys, they are a Canadian business with a great curbside pickup system. They have a lot of educational toys, great for young minds!

What is there to say? It’s Mastermind Toys. Period. Staff and service are helpful even during Covid times.

I ordered a gift for my granddaughter online and picked it up the next day and had it gift wrapped. The staff was very helpful and the store is very clean and organized, which makes it easy to find toys for any age.

This has become our new go to toy store. The prices are great and so is the variety.my son wanted a Bugatti Veyron and couldn't find one anywhere that didn't cost an arm- till i came across mastermind toys' website. And it was only for $6. Will be back again.

I ordered an AK47 toy for the first time. We are satisfied with the quality of service. The machine is really like a real one and shoots well

Good selection of toys. Extra bonus.they wrap toys for gifts if you choose to do so. Not many sales though. Good option of holding toys by reserving online, without having to purchase.

Mastermind Toys is the best toy store for children. The store has a variety of unique toys that are rarely found at other toy stores. Staff is always helpful and they offer wrapping services, which is a nice touch.

It's a wonderful store for young people. Lots of toys, and staff is very friendly and helpful. It was very easy to get gifts for my grandson, and they also provide complimentary wrapping.

A good place for a variety of toys and books. A place with educative toys, activity books, children novels etc. And for the Christmas time they are wrapping gifts for free.

Great Kid Books, awesome Board Game selection, all the latest gadgets, AND free gift wrapping. Love this place!

Went here looking for a LEGO item. The website says it is available at the store. They can’t find the item though. Bizzare! Should’ve stuck to Amazon for the convenience.

Great store, my daughter and grandchildren have a riot when we go.money is no object when im with them lol.the happiness they instill.

Love this store! The staff is really helpful and they do complimentary gift wrapping. Selection is smaller than Toys R Us, but they do have a lot of variety and things are organized based on theme (I e. Science) so it's really easy to find things.

We called the store yesterday and they held a Thomas the Train Wooden table for us that was 70% off - in and out of the store in a few minutes-excellent service

Very expensive store to buy toys less verities and no good toys as conpare to its price. Over all very bad experience. Would not recommend to any one.
