Best Gyoza I've ever! Management is top notch and cares about customer service. Highly recommend Sushi in town.

Portion was not the greatest, will not be coming back again. Tora sushi is a lot better if you're looking for good food, service and portion size

The quality of the sushi is hands down the best in Peterborough, which if you’re eating raw fish this should be your number one concern. The pricing however (I guess because it’s better than everywhere else) is on the higher end. That being said, would you rather pay less and get sick? Portions are decent are decent as well.

I ordered stuff I thought I would like to try and it didn’t sit well with me but my gf loved the food

Great sushi here. Nice quiet place in East City with great food. A nice change of pace from the fast food side of eating out.

Firstly, I have been to your restaurant more than one time as a customer. I can even tell you that I liked to eat at the desk on the right side of the door. So I think I have the right to leave a comment.

Secondly, you are more than welcome to report to Uber about this issue, cuz I have already contacted them right after we have this issue in the afternoon. And they have confirmed that I was correct that having an insulated bag is OPTIONAL. Therefore, it is on your side that was under the misinformation in the first place. So I suggest you do communicate with them, properly this time.

Lastly, I did not try to yell at you in any sort, and I certainly do not understand why you would interpret my words in that way. I even suggested that there should be a something like a button in your system to filter out dilivery person with no insulated bag. On the reverse, you behaved in an unacceptable manner, by simply kept repeating that you don't wanna argue, and that the fault is on me, so I should cancel the order.

It is a pity that as an Asian, I did like you food as one of the few Asian restaurant in town. But I take my dilivery order seriously, I have had many great customers before, and I do not want to disappoint them. That's why I have never, ever, cancel an order before. As a matter of fact, I actually sat in my car and spent 10 minutes try to figure out how to do so.

So in one word, I believe I present myself in an acceptable way, and being as reasonable as possible. If you do not agree with so, please do talk to Uber about this issue. Because I certainly hope that this issue would never happen to you or any other dilivery person again.

We have gone to the Matsu Sushi on Hunter St.since it opened and the quality had always been good, but last week I ordered a spicy salmon crispy hand roll and Korean spinach salad. My husband order a beef roll. The salmon sushi was a mash of something fishy but there were no pieces of salmon. It actually tasted like sawdust paste. The hand roll was very packed but also unpalatable.
The spinach salad had no seasoning except sesame seeds. It simply tasted like cold boiled spinach. I was shocked. I’d rather pay a little more and get a decent meal. Don’t think I’ll be going back. Ordering-in is a treat for us.
I’m disappointed and saddened.

I have only done take out here but while waiting the staff has always been friendly and a nice comfortable place to go

I absolutely recommend! I was there last Saturday. The food, presentation, niceness of staff, and privacy are amazing. I’m surely going again!

The prices for each meal were not so expensive. We spent around $50 because we ordered many dishes.

They didn’t take too long to make the food, and there are so many beautiful backgrounds for taking pictures.

The pink lady is my favourite, the spring rolls are good but if you don’t eat them sooner than letter they do become a soggy quickly. Traditionally Gyoza is made with pork, however they make it with beef here and it is very tasty!

Not only is the sushi mouth watering, and melting in your mouth, and the service is fantastic. I travelled almost two hours to try this restaurant out, and I am wildly impressed. I’ve been all over Ontario, trying different spots and I will be coming back here! I wish I could give them more stars, thank you for the fabulous experience!

Excellent experience. My wife and I had Bibimbap, spicy salmon hand rolls and takoyaki, and everything was fantastic. The octopus in thr takoyaki was nice and soft, unlike many other places we have had it. We came in at about 8: 00 pm (and I think we might have interrupted family meal for the staff), but we were greeted warmly and the service was great. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Teriyaki sauce is too salty, however, the miso soup and pork bone soup have light taste. The worst is, waited for approximately 30 minutes for pork bone soup. Don't ask for hot water or tea too early after the restaurant opens, if not, the waitress will ask you to wait for the water to boil. The fishes for sushi and sashimi are fresh, however, Chirachi don wasn't as expected as it is, instead of serving in a bowl, it was served in a plate. The dressing for the salad was good.

Always consistent and fresh. Al a carte can be more expensive than other AYCE restaurants but often the portions are larger and the presentation is so much better!

Best sushi in Peterborough area. Seafood is fresh and appear to have been kept in proper refrigeration temperature for raw dishes, fantastic service, authentic Korean and Japanese cuisine, very pricey but excellent dishes.

The best night out! My little one and I enjoyed chicken udon and wonton soup - and my goodness, everything was so tasty. The staff were so kind and accommodating with our big stroller and toddler ways. My little one kept saying “yummy” at every bite. We can’t wait to return!

I ordered shrimp tempura all I got was tail and batter. Very poor excuse for Japanese restaurant. Also order some other dishes that were very poorly cooked

The sushi is very fresh and consistently good! We have been going here for years and will likely be going for many more years to come. Great service, cozy and private atmosphere.

Ordered through Skip the dishes and they forgot the sauce for my tempura. Not a big deal, but they called me, got my address and delivered it themselves! Completely blown away by that dedication to customer service. Not to mention that they have delicious food! Definitely check them out, and I will continuously order from them. Thank you so much, you guys seriously went above and beyond.

Honestly the quality of the food and the service is consistent. Would highly recommend trying the Korean items on the menu.

Removing my rant for the sake of showing some sympathy. Maybe it was a bad night for this go-to sushi joint. I've removed the details but let's just say it was an uncharacteristic fail in both service and quality of food. They seem to be prioritizing DoorDash and UberEats over in-house diners, which may be lucrative but they've got to find a balance. Hope you get your game back, Matsu. Don't want to repeat that miserable experience.

Amazing food usually but I just had the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced here.

Long story, but: I ordered for pickup for 710, arrived to see a line up of people that wasn’t moving much, it’s busy, I understand.

After waiting over 20 minutes patiently without even a glance from someone to see if I could just pick up my order, which was already paid for, I continued to wait.

I waited almost 35 minutes before I had to finally just flag someone down and ask, since it was over 40 minutes late. Nobody seemed to be filling orders and when I finally got someone’s attention, they checked.

Guess what!? They hadn’t even started MAKING the food that was over 40 minutes late. When the male server informed me, he just laughed. No apology, nothing. Just laughed.

This was the THIRD instance they have forgotten my order or simply didn’t make it. It has now ruined this once good spot for me. I will not be retuning and I will be recommending my friends and family to do the same from now on due to this experience.

Decent food, but if they are at all busy, good luck, because you’re more likely to just end up waiting an hour only to be told they don’t really care about you ‍️.

Overall, I found the service was good and the portions didn't leave you hungry. However, when I tried to eat the tuna sashimi, I found it was inferior to what I'm used to eating, as it was sinewy and I could not swallow it without choking. The server did not go back to tell the chef, when I tried asking her to advise them, assuming I just didn't like tuna.

Probably my favourite Korean and Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. The staff is always friendly and the food is top notch! They even have gluten free options!

Their Korean food is on point - pajeon, tteokbokki, etc.and the Japanese okonomiyaki and their rolls were great as well. Service is excellent - fast, polite, but never overbearing in terms of 'frequent checking in' that some staff at restaurants do.

I went to order toro and to my surprise they advised against it. The batch they received wasn't to their standards. I appreciate the honesty and not just selling me whatever they have. This made me confident in the quality of food I was being given.

Our server was SO nice. We didn't have much of a wait and sat on the patio. We loved the sushi and the food. Patio was great. Parking is right along the street so it was perfect! We'll be back!

This restaurant must have changed management since the last time I dined in here. We ordered delivery and the sushi was the size of prepackaged sushi you get in the grocery store. Small portions compared to other sushi places in Ptbo. The udon noodles were very very salty! Very disappointing!

I find that they’ve gotten a little over priced since the original owner, decent sushi. Tried their blue jays roll and didn’t like it, it was basically cooked tuna with pickle which tasted so weird together. Friendly service though.

This is the best sushi restaurant in the city. The staff are friendly the food is exceptional and never disappointed in the portions.

Such a great restaurant, not just the food and atmosphere, but the over all experience is great, can't wait to return here when things get back to normal!

My favourite roll is the one with the jalapeños on it! I’ve never seen any other sushi places do it before.

We ordered $200 worth of orders for an office lunch and they got every single order correct, everything was absolutely delicious, and they are the friendliest bunch of people you will ever meet! The food is plated so beautifully. The portion sizes are perfect. Everything was very fresh. Thank you so much! We will be back for sure!

I just came back my first time here, spent about $20 for the Spicy Maki set and I'd definitely go again.

The sushi had great flavour and it actually has a spice to it, the cashier was super sweet and they were quick with getting my order ready.

I found I could not tell which one was crab/salmon/tuna, so perhaps adding more fish to make it more noticeable could be an improvement. Great experience ️

I had a wonderful anniversary with my husband in Hunter Matsu. I've never seen such a busy restaurant before, but it was worth it as I heard. It took me an hour to get here, but I'll be back soon.

Peterborough continues to amaze me. The food scene is very good here. This is nice cozy Japanese with some Corean dishes too. Food was tasty, fresh and well made. Will be visiting again.

Me and my friend made a reservation during a quiet evening. We walked in and staff never acknowledged us over 5 minutes while we stood awkwardly. They had a lot of staff with only one table to serve - front lady was glued onto her ipad and never bothered to look up. I heard food was good here, it’s a shame that they don’t want to serve dine in.

As a consumer of many foods and a delivery driver for many restaurants, this is one of the restaurants that I am most disappointed about. They steal tips from drivers and act like nothing happens. We caught them many times but they do not listen and always tries to act like they do nothing. If you order food, do not leave tips online unless the tips are for the restaurant. This is a serious reminder.

Waited 4 hours after our order was placed online after hearing countless times that the courier was 15-20 minutes away. Not only that, they refused to answer any calls. Terrible customer service.

I ordered on Valentine's Day 2021, the sashimi a la cartè was delicious. I ordered red tuna, Tuna Belly (so buttery smooth) scallops, and salmon. Everything was fresh with no hint of fish smell. I also ordered some BBQ short ribs that made my mouth water just smelling then, definitely hit the spot on such a. Old night. Lastly I had perfectly crispy pork donkatsu, every bite was crunchy and perfect comfort food. Everything was eaten no left overs! I'm giving Matsu sushi 5 stars despite the wait times on Valentine's night that were due to their computer system going down. It was a long wait but it was worth it! A restaurant should be reviewed on their food not something out of their control. If you order any other night you'd not experience this long wait, I would suggest this sushi restaurant to anyone who's looking for fresh fish sashimi and Korean comfort food.
