I have been to a bunch of Filipino restaurants and what these people did well they did really well but the dishes they didn't do well were horrible so it was kind of inconsistent the service was really good I liked the atmosphere but the food was hit or miss so maybe I would eat here again because the stuff I did like I really liked but it sucks that the stuff I really wanted to eat was probably the worst I've ever had
Kare kare horrible Bicol horrible Even the dessert was flavorless but the fried chicken was delicious the adobo was really good crispy Pata really good Laing good as well so if you really like those things this is a great spot to be but overall experience I would give it average but employees were really nice and the atmosphere is really nice just hit or miss on the food the stuff that was bad was literally the worst I've ever had in my entire 10 years of eating Filipino food almost daily

We brought our family from the US to have brunch before their flight back to US. Our family are so grateful for the sumptuous meal we shared with them, including the excellent service of Trixie and Michelle. They look forward to coming back soonest.

This was, unfortunately, a very disappointing experience at a Filipino restaurant, and I feel it did not provide value for money. I find it unreasonable to pay more than $10 for a single Filipino dish. I will not be going back here ever again.

There are far better pinoy restaurants nearby that don’t charge too much for a single dish.

I ordered from Max’s yesterday. I was gonna order a whole fried chicken, but apparently it requires a side order that is extra charge. I’m not sure what that is all about too bad.

Ordered the sisig and it although it came on a hot plate, it wasn’t sizzling…so my sisig was filled with a lot of “soup” it was really liquidy at the bottom…which is not supposed to happen. The service could’ve been way better too, not worthy of the auto gratuity of 15% that was attached to my bill. Maxs Fried Chicken and Kare Kare is a must-order

I’ve been going here since the day it opens and lined up even on the winter time. Always been good and food are always good. Servers are always very accommodating Filipino and even not. I’d like to take this opportunity to give a big thumbs up to this special girl that’s been serving us most of the time with lots of energy and happiness in her face. Very helpful and such a sweet girl. Her name is Ngoc Hân. And this lady will go a long long way and is an asset to this favorite restaurant of ours!

Restaurant starts to feel old and worn out. From menu booklet to chairs, to washrooms. Sinks needs plumbing renovations. Signature foods are becoming more average tasting.

15% gratuity added, doesn’t matter if you’re one person or two people. It says on the menu that 15% gratuity is added for 8 or more people but, this is not the case and they will add it for everyone without even telling you before hand. Just know this before going, wouldn’t recommend based on the food and service

Ever since I met my filipino girlfriend we always ate at Max's. We were regulars. One busy evening we came in for dinner for 2. We waited a long time for menus and a server. They served other guests who arrived after us. We felt very. The service changed as well as the food. We boycotted them for 2 years. My girlfriend being filipino loves this food and the location is close to us. We decided to try again. Before I decided to write a review I wanted to make sure I had the right to express myself properly. I read some reviews before I posted this one. The last 3 times I have eaten at Max's Dufferin & Steeles location I have been violently sick. People beware.

Serving takes a little while. Ordered crispy pata and halo-halo.

Crispy pata (crispy pig's hock) is good with its crackling skin and tender meat. Halo-halo is underwhelming. Price mid-range to expensive. Will go back for the crispy pata though.

Food is okay, but service is terrible. We had to ask at least 4 times for water. I had to ask them to take our order as we've been waiting a while. 15% gratuitie was already added to our bill (there's only 2 of us). Oh and the debit machine is still set up to ask for tip.

Instead of sisig, order large crispy pata instead. 10/10 sticky, crispy skin and very tender meat inside.

Feels filipino, some of the foods just doesnt have the authentic taste of the dish it was supposed to be.

Went here for an 80th birthday party, and it was beautiful! Friendly and helpful staff clean venue and delicious food how can you go wrong!
