The most delicious brunch spot that I make sure to go to when I visit Ottawa. A warm and welcoming atmosphere, with delicious food and beautiful kid servers. The owners are the friendliest and made sure that my daughters allergies were taken into serious account. Love love love this spot!
Nothing but love here! Haven’t been here in a while, and I’m glad to be back. Service is just as amazing as my first visit! You can never go wrong with the shakshuka, Ashta pancakes, and Turkish coffee. Bring a lover and/or loved ones and you’re guaranteed a great time filled with delicious food!
I can see why people patiently wait in line for brunch at this restaurant. They consistently provide excellent service and serve delicious food. My personal favorite is the halloumi omelette, and I can't forget to mention their fantastic bread!
Une place à faire lors de votre visite d’Ottawa. Un super brunch aux saveurs orientales. Tout y était parfait de l’accueil, au service en passant par les plats. Un vrai sans faute.
I heard so many great thing about this place but unfortunately was left underwhelmed. There were no real gluten free options on the menu. I ended up getting the shakshuka without the bread. It lacked flavour and was watery. Despite this my mom and sister got the eggs Benedict and chicken sandwich and were happy with their dishes. In addition the service was great and the restaurant looks causally nice. Overall an ok experience.
5 out of 5 stars for the absolutely delicious: ashta pancakes, shak shouka, beef kofta, Turkish coffee, happy goat coffee. 5 out of 5 stars for the warm and friendly service as well!
We went for brunch, they don’t take reservation but they have an online waitlist that works well. The food is really good, eggs Benedict are tasty. The hot drinks, coffee and matcha are great. Unfortunately, after we were seated they told us they had an event in an hour and we had to rush to eat our food, that was not pleasant and was not informed in advanced. Besides this, is a nice place for brunch.
Our server was such a lovely and kind person and the food was incredible. Honestly a great way to start our morning/weekend. The home fries were so good (the most perfect texture) and they accommodated our dairy allergies <3 I can’t wait to go back especially because Mariam told us that they continue to evolve their menu so there will always be something new to try.
Two of us had the Shakshuka with feta and loved it. Another had the eggs Benedict and said it was excellent with the sun-dried tomatoes and spinach on sourdough toast. Nice to get asked by the server how done the eggs should be cooked. Very pleasant and tasty breakfast.
I got to the restaurant on Sunday at 1 pm, when I walked in there were 2 tables empty. I was put on the waiting list and told 15 mins. I get a text saying I was #3 in line, mins later another text saying “Heads up! It's soon your turn at Mazarine Restaurant so start heading back. ” I click the link to see the # I am, says I’m not longer on the waiting list. I walk into the restaurant, they said “sorry we can’t serve you we close at 2”. At this point it’s 1: 15 pm. I wouldn’t have know they can’t serve me unless I walked in myself. Not sure what kind of business they run, but their client service is horrible. They could have absolutely served 1 person. 2 people said they can’t serve me, but their manager attempted to seat me. Why would I want to eat there? Better client service etiquette is required when running an establishment.
Wait time is extremely long (waited around 2 hours when estimate provided was 45min at 10am) on weekends. Portion sizes are small, expensive and will leave you hungry. The non standard brunch options are flavorful.
Delicious, traditional Mediterranean scratch diner. Fabulous Happy Goat coffee and lattes made to order. Excellent, friendly service. Definitely worth a stop for the Shakshuka. Will be back.
The place felt a bit overrated. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. The food served does not match the pictures on the menu. Taste wise, it is alright but good quantity.
Cozy ambiance and clean restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Specialty coffees are made to perfection. I always bring my friends to Mazarine and it never disappoints. I highly recommend this place for breakfast and brunch!
Hi, this place is a very nice place but the line is very uncomfortable. Like you go for brunch and they ask you to put you name in the line and get back sometimes more than an hour later. I suggest they use Yelp app so people can put their names before heading out. It’s not fun to walk or stand up for an hour without breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Their food is really good
Hit and miss. Labneh app would have ben good had it not been sitting in old, slightly rancid olive oil, or been served with old, stale pita. Avocado toast was ok, but could have used a heftier slice of bread. Halloumi and watermelon dish was delightful - though the cheese barely touched the grill when it was initially served to us, so I asked the waitress - who was quite gracious about it - to throw it back on for a few minutes. It would be quite easy to make this place a whole lot better than it is, both decor and food-wise.
I had been attempting to try this restaurant for months and was not disappointed when I finally got the chance! The food is amazing if you are looking for a different breakfast experience and reasonably priced. Pancakes and mushroom toast were absolutely delicious!
They made an event for mother's day with a 3 course meal and dessert, it was all delicious. They out flowers on the tables and it was all very cute and delicate.
Just a heads up that there was an issue with bathroom drain smelling up out table, which I'm not sure if it's an ongoing issue or just an issue they were going through that day, so beware if you're sensitive to strong smells.
We would still have dined there and had a good time if they gave us a heads up, it's just good to know and choose.
We had an amazing brunch at Mazarine. We were a group of 13 and everyone worked tirelessly to accomodate us and give us the best experience possible. I truly appreciated the great customer service. We had the watermelon halloumi, which was just perfect with the touch of mint that it had. I was so nostalgic having the labneh with its 3 different herb mixes. We also enjoyed the pancakes with ashta very much. They were so amazingly fluffy and rich. Needless to say the coffee was just perfect!
Careful of allergies, and loads of care to the food. The hot chocolate I ordered is one of the best I’ve ever had. Will totally order again and hopefully dine in.
Food was delicious, and the menu was interesting and unique. Portion sizes were great and prices were fair. Waitstaff were kind and attentive, despite it being very busy. There was a wait to get in, but obviously this place deserves the crowd. Highly recommend!
I've only ever had Mazarine's Mediterranean-inspired brunch dishes for take-out, so I was excited to dine-in with friends recently! . My food blog Instagram: mimi.munches . The dishes featured in these photos are: . Classic Breakfast ($15) : Two eggs your way, bacon, sausage, fruits, home fries and toast of your choice.
Shakshuka ($15.50) : This was the favourite of our group! Two baked eggs, homemade shakshuka sauce, sourdough bread - make sure to order extra bread to sop up all the deliciousness of the sauce. Even though this was vegetarian, it was very hearty and satisfying. . Beef Kofta Sandwich ($15) : Garlic tahini sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, pita bread served with french fries (halal). This was a delicious wrap, with tender and well-spiced meat. One thing we all noted was that Mazarine does potatoes REALLY well. The home fries in the classic breakfast were super crispy, and so were the fries in this dish! . For dessert, we chose to try the Ashta Pancakes ($10.50) : Homemade jam, ashta, topped with pistachio and honey. This was not too sweet, and was nice way to end the meal. . For drinks, we tried the Mango & Pineapple Sparkling Hard Tea (from Collective Arts Brewing, $6), a Matcha Latte ($4.65), and their Turkish Coffee ($3.75), which has finely ground coffee beans infused with cardamom. Served with Turkish delight (contains nuts). . We sat at the table right near the window, which was great for people-watching!
Nice and fun place to eat. The music was from the 90-2000 loved the playlist. The food was ok had eggs and bacon the potatoes we not to my liking but to each there own. They were to crispy. The cranberry jus is not cranberry jus it’s a cocktail mix of some sort. The high light was the chai late and the pancakes. Overall I’d go back for the service pancakes and chai latte hands down. Meal cost about 35$
Highly recommend this place! Saw it on Instagram and decided that I had to try it. Was seriously worth it. I ordered the item in the photo, can't remember the name but it was so perfect for what I wanted. My company at brunch got the omelette and was very impressed. Some great healthy options that don't put you in a food-coma after. Side note: the bread is worth going back for alone. Sweet baby j that was good. Ended up ordering extra.
The food was delicious, the pancakes were so fluffy and the sauce was so lovely. While the server was lovely, the food took quite sometime to arrive given that the restaurant was almost empty. There's a definite lack of ambience which I'm sure will get worked out as the restaurant matures.
I had high hopes of this new brunch spot in my neighbourhood. We had visited during their soft launch and the prices were quite a bit higher than what you would see at the higher-end/more established restaurants so that was off-putting. The only classic brunch item was Eggs Florentine for $22!? ! I'm sorry, but Wilf & Ada's serves the same dish for $16.67. Since their soft opening, I was excited to see that they expanded their menu to include more classic breakfast offerings at much more reasonable prices. However, we never got a chance to try their new menu since their service was atrocious. We asked for a table for two and while they were full, there was an empty table for 4 by the window and another table for 4 by the kitchen. They refused to split one of the tables for 4 into two tables of two even though it could have been easily accommodated and isn't that the design principle of having modular furniture so that the restaurant can adapt and have that flexibility? Apparently, the staff at Mazarine have no experience in working in the service industry because you don't make existing customers wait for a table when there is clearly a table available "in the hopes that a bigger group will come into the restaurant next". I can understand a busy brunch spot where there is a lineup for the next available table, and they call out for groups that match what they have freed up but this was NOT the case. We arrived and there were free tables available. They didn't want to accommodate us at any table. That is not how you run a restaurant and retain customers. When a group of four came in 10 minutes after us and were seated immediately at the table they refused to split into two, we left and they lost our business and the business of all of our friends and neighbours who live in the same neighbourhood. Disappointing.
Brunch is serious business! The co-owners and staff at Mazarine are working their tails off to bring Centretown a cozy lil place to indulge in unique dishes with fresh, local ingredients.
I've been visiting weekly since opening, as it's always a pleasure to dine there. My current favorite dishes are the smoothie bowl (so refreshing after a work-out) and the eggs Florentine. As a fan of Happy Goat, it's a treat to enjoy various coffee drinks featuring their beans, having found the Cortado delivers a delectable experience (which can be ordered as take-out, as well).
Incredible space, very small and intimate menu, but everything was superb. The Ataif Pancakes were incredible, and I loved the spin on the avocado toast with addition of labneh and za’star.
If you love Lebanese/Mediterranean food, you have to try this place out. The owner is lovely and the space is super comforting.
Nous avons pris un latte avec du lait d’avoine et des pancakes. Les pancakes sont délicieux! Nous avons été agréablement surpris par l’utilisation de la cardamome.
I saw a photo of the Grilled Haloumi/Watermelon dish on IG a few days ago and had to stop in to try it.
Mazarine is a great little brunch spot on Kent St.with a nice bright area in the front of the restaurant. Nice open space. The menu is centred on Mediterranean inspired brunch options. Many local food providers (i.e. Happy Goat Coffee) are featured in the creations available on the menu.
The Mediterranean Bloody Mary was nice and spicy and came garnished with some feta cheese and a black olive.
The aforementioned Grilled Haloumi Cheese was fantastic. A nice balance between the watermelon and the Haloumi.
The grand opening is in early September when they will have the official menu available.
If you like brunch, I would recommend that you give Mazarine a try.
Food and service were both outstanding, my family and I had a great time. Interesting Middle Eastern twist on classic brunch fare in a clean, minimalistic decor. Highly recommend.
