McCann Professional Dog Trainers

Absolutely amazing approach to training dogs/ puppies. We got a rescue with no advanced notice, I stumbled upon the McCann training and it fits our lifestyle perfectly. It focuses on the joy of having a dog and the positivity that can come from it and not about dominance, control and power. Through the training you do learn how to control your dog, but in such a positive way, it has made training our Border Aussie a wonderful experience.

At first you think it’s great when you get to the facility, it’s huge, big buildings. Once the class begins, it is rushed through, trainer flipping pages to make sure they get all the course details into the one class. When asking questions, you’re told to reference the YouTube videos and go over it that way. No extra help, no stopping to help correct the behaviour, just kinda left to figure it out on your own. We recently completed a second training course with amazing results and a very informative, and patient staff, always willing to take the time for their clients.
I also wanted to express my thoughts on the owner and the administration, they weren’t helpful, they lied, and were rude. Definitely wouldn’t recommend these guys. Do your research and really into the reviews of this place.

I trained with McCann 18 years ago and am so excited to be back with them again. It is very nice to see some of the same trainers from before, and a whole bunch of new (to me), passionate pet people. The knowledge and patience of McCann dog trainer is second to none. Thank you for the fantastic start for my new family member through your Puppy Essentials, I cant wait to start Life Skills with you in a few weeks.

Their YouTube videos have been wonderful! I am very happy with my puppy's behavior and I completely owe that learning from those videos and consistency. I do not find their website super helpful, but maybe that's because I had already watched a ton of their videos on YouTube.

Extremely professional, kind and understanding. I registered my little Bourbon this past spring fro Puppy Head Start which was great. It helped to keep us accountable to Bourbon's training. When signing up for Grade 1 I was accidentally over-charged on my card. Jan phoned to let me know (as I was unaware) and they refunded the difference immediately. We start Grade 1 this week (in-person) and we are very excited to show off our skills learned from the summer.

Awesome videos to prepare for my new arrival in a few weeks. It's been over 20 years since I had a puppy. My last fur baby of 18 years was a rescue and passed a away in May 22. I am retired now so with my new "baby to be" I can dedicate the time and effort to make her the Best she can Be! McCann Training will be my #1 guide!

Podcast & YouTube dog training tips galore. I only wish I knew they sold leather leashes on their site before I ordered elsewhere!

I am learning so much from the Puppy Essentials course that my eight week old pug and I enrolled in. We enrolled into this course for both of us to learn to communicate and me to learn to be the best leader/manager that I can be for her.

The private Facebook group is full of wonderful classmates who are working on many of the same issues. That is just one of the great support lines that I have utilized. I am so excited for our live classes every week! They provide us with such good information, tips, and someone has always gotten back to me with any further questions when I've reached out.

I have not done online classes in a hot minute, so I was a little iffy about enrolling. I am so pleasantly surprised with the gradual yet super effective order that they present the information. I suggest doing EVERY SINGLE STEP in the order that they lay it out - not skipping over anything that you think you and your puppy already have down pat. They lay everything out really well. Work every step? Even the ones you think seem silly or that you might not need to use with your dog such as a crate for instance.

So grateful to have found McCann dog school. We are in the US so have been going through their online training program which has been excellent.

We started our new puppy in puppy essentials from day 2 of having her and could see it working immediately. We would have done so many detrimental things otherwise.

I was skeptical at first at paying for the online training since they had so many YouTube videos, but it was worth it to sign up for the structured curriculum, the new step by step videos, and the private Facebook group. The instructors answered my questions promptly and we had a lot in the early days. It's also so nice to be able to share videos of your training sessions and get feedback.

We just are entering the second training program life skills. At 4 months our puppy can already do things that my childhood dogs never could - hold a sit or down, only eat on command, spin on verbal command only, reliably fetch and drop items, allow me to trim nails. And we have a wild high energy mutt puppy.

Really grateful for McCann dogs and for all the media they put out and instructor lessons. Thank you!

I would rate them 6 stars if I could. The program is very well structured. One lesson down and it's already been a game changer. The in house lesson was followed up with online classroom videos that reinforced key concepts as well as providing guidance for training at home. It is worth every penny. A great experience all-around with lots of staff in the room to help guide everyone.

Would never return here. The one trainer was very unprofessional with my dog. He was getting aggressive with him. I should've taken my dog's leash and beaten him with it regardless of the fact that he was an older man.

Great professional dog trainers with an excellent LIMA (“least intrusive, minimally aversive") approach to dog training. They are a family business with a great formula. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We've been students since Grade 1 and are now agility students. Our trainers have always been attentive, sensible, and helpful.

We just finished the head start puppy program and I can't say enough good things about the trainers. They are generous with their time, are attentive, and are so helpful and I have to also add that they are patient AF. Plus they are all dog whisperers. I like the fact that I can go on their YouTube channel and review what I learned or even learn something new. My energetic puppy dog is becoming well mannered. She likes the boundaries I have set for her and she loves practicing. Our family likes the calm and eager to please attitude of our girl. The more you practice the more you will get out of the classes. I did not practice as much as I should have so that's on me not them. Anytime I had a question for any of the trainers they spent a lot of extra time helping me. Is it expensive? I think of it as an investment of money and time in the short term so that you will enjoy a well behaved and happy puppy and dog in the future. I should also mention how happy my puppy was attending these sessions. I swear she was smiling? We can't wait for grade one! This is my love bug, Skye.

I wouldn't consider this "professional" dog training. I brought my dog here and the lady started off by saying that she had a terrible day. Then she went on to say that my dog is too aggressive and he needs more help than what we asked for. She said she felt uncomfortable around him but you are a DOG TRAINER! Thats is your job! It was a complete waste of time and money, for $180 all she did was confuse and upset me. I don't recommend you bring your dog here, they are extremely rude.

We got an 8 week old puppy a week ago. The puppy training is helpful and works. Our puppy is a joy to train and have around.

Val was very passionate about training Dusty and made it easy for us to work with him. We would recommend McCann to everyone. We look forward to our next lesson in August.

As a first time puppy owner, McCanns has given me the skills and confidence to manage a high energy pup. It's a time commitment, but that's negated by the amazing results I see week after week. Most importantly they aren't doing it for you, you have to learn right along with your pet. Thanks McCanns!

Fantastic experience all around. Lauren, Kris, and Rob all went above and beyond to be actively engaging and giving pointers to each individual during training. In 2 months we've learned so much on how to better communicate with our pup, and she's responded so well. I saw a few negative comments saying that if you don't have a collie this training won't work for you - and that's just bizarre. There wasn't one collie in our class and the instructors themselves have different breeds of dog, so I have no idea where that incorrect assumption came from. They don't train your dogs for you - so if you're looking for your training to be handed to you without much effort from you then sure this isn't the place for you. Our 8 month old goldendoodle is now thriving because of the class! Thanks all - fantastic grade 1 obedience training.

I signed up with MCanns for one reason only, so I could be trained on training the puppy. I didn’t have a clue. You would think a simple sit, your dog will sit. Boy are you wrong. McCanns uses several easy methods when their in the puppy stage that you can take away as they perfect the skill. For example treats and rewards. Give them lots Everytime you give a command word like look at me, give him a treat, with me, another treat. And I mean chopped up cheese, hotdogs things dogs drool over. In the back of your mind your thinking I’m going to be doing this for rhe next 16 years. Well your wrong. They don’t need the treats anymore once they have mastered your command. Lastly practice at home with all family members but remember only one alpha goes to classes. A whole family can take part in this money well spent at home, on walks, sitting outside the store waiting for you. The list is endless. Honestly God rest his soul our Poncho died January 24,2020. Everyone saw how well mannered and friendly he was up until his last breath. Poncho you will be missed my buddy but never forgotten. We will LOVE YOU FOREVER!

Tried to register our puppy for classes before the COVID lockdown and due to unavailability of classes, had to wait two months. Then the lockdown came into effect and when it was over, we were told our puppy was "too old" for the classes and she "aged out of the class" during the lock down. They made no exceptions for the fact that our entire province was on lockdown for two months and hundreds of puppies would have aged out over this period. They dont care about dogs and customers at all, only care about making money. Since they already had a large waitlist, they only cared about the younger puppies, not the ones who applied for positions first.

On top of it all, they had the nerve to tell me to do the first round of training myself and then they would charge me a fee to evaluate my dog to see if she was "good enough" for a higher level/more advanced class (which less people sign up for and cost more money therefore there is more availability).

The whole conversation with their staff left me feeling insulted and like I had done something wrong as a dog parent, when the only reason my puppy "aged out" was because of the COVID lock down.

The McCann trainers are very knowledgeable and helped me train my pup. They followed the Covid protocols and I always felt safe during the classes. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, and provide a friendly environment for owners and dogs.

While I haven't gone in person yet, their YouTube videos are amazing! I hope to attend classes when I get my puppy in a couple months!

I have started virtual private lessons with Carol, and the one hour we spend with her is more helpful than (the many) in person hours we have spent at other facilities. She has a wealth of knowledge that I have found to be unmatched. I live in Denver, CO and was a bit worried about efficacy of the virtual option, but during the hour, we talk about issues, Carol will demo with her dogs, and then watch us work with ours. I highly recommend this facility.

The trainers here are very knowledgeable and patient. I have taken 3 wild very social puppies to train here in the past, and all three of them have come out of grade 1 as wonderful family pets. They take the time to explain all the steps of the move throughly and make sure they have a chance to watch each dog owner execute the move so they can give you constructive feedback. There is even time at the end of each lesson for questions. You never leave feeling unsure of what to do. There is one head instructor who explains and demonstrates the lesson with the help of their own dog. Then when it comes time to practice there are a number of other trainers in the room who circulate to help guide you through the lesson. With the 3 dogs we trained there we have seen a great number of trainers and all have been excellent. We only had a problem with one instructor, and when we took our concerns to the front desk we were offered a refund for the class. The classes are expensive, but the level of training you get is well worth it!

I'm doing their online program and they are really helpful. They have weekly zoom calls and Q&A's so I can handle any problems I'm having. The videos are really easy to learn from.

Great info that is useable in the real world. I have watched many different videos about dogs and they are by far the best!

We brought our Chinese Shar-Pei here for training because she was out of control. They helped us shape her into an amazing dog!

Learned many things to teach my new puppy. Excellent video. Only problem: videos never address unique needs of training a smaller dog.

Their you tube channel has been an incredible resource during this difficult time with a new puppy in a multi dog household. We also met with a behaviorist that was recommended by mcanns and she was very helpful. We learned so much in one private lesson! She definitely helped my partner see the light! And now we are signed up for puppy class at mcanns and cannot wait to start!

Brought my ~6 mo (at the time) Lab x Shep a few years back and they were great. Answered any questions I had and would come check on everyone individually during and after class and give some extra attention to those who needed it. My dog has been great ever since graduation, very well behaved, attentive, intelligent and easy to train.
I will be looking to return soon to fix a few minor issues we're having, which are no Fault of McCann's.

Excellent team, helped my puppy go from an uncooperative nibbler to a well behaved tail wagger! No more teeth or scratch marks coming from my pup anymore!

They have so many helpers to help out with you and the dog. They explaine everything to you which is awesome and how the dogs or puppies brain works. The place is always always clean the staff is amazing.

Classes are awesome with super helpful leaders always ready to assist.
Love that my children could participate in Head Start and watch the other grades.

Although staff were very nice, I found that this is dog training is quite expensive and if you have a problematic dog that they don’t really help you too much with behaviours. More just to learn sit, stay, come etc. For what we paid to do the class I expected more. Again, super nice people but over priced and overrated in my opinion

I have some of the most well behaved dogs and I owe it to McCann's Trainers. People always compliment how good they are in all situations - highly recommend!

We took our lil pupper there and he did great. Mccann trainers are great. They hand a booklet with all info before the classes begin. It becomes easy to read and be prepared before the sessions. Also they are always available on phone calls for any questions we may have. Always hapoy to help! Great place.

I'm a big fan on the McCann dog training method. As a new puppy owner i found the free online training videos on YouTube a great help. I also found the live streams and podcasts by the McCann trainers a great help.

Quite literally the best in the business. You get what you pay for, and much much more. These guys truly care about the success of you and your dog!

Next week is our test and hopefully graduation from Grade 1. Last night we were going in and out of the house setting up Halloween decorations in the rain and frustrating our dog, Diablo who had to stay inside. He got out and was about to run out onto our busy street when I used the recall command taught to me by the trainers at McCann. IT WORKED! He stopped and with a little more persuasion came back safe. There are many other things taught during Grade 1 but this one saved his life. Thanks McCann, five Stars.

We just completed Head Start Puppy Training. I've had dogs all my life and my eyes have been opened to the things I've missed out on with my previous dogs. Life is so much better when the dog and the people understand each other.
There are three trainers in the room for every session. Best practices are explained clearly and "demo dogs" are used to illustrate techniques.
Every question that I heard asked was answered clearly and completely.
Highly recommend.

3rd dog in training there now. Good results leading to many enjoyable years with your furry family members.

We got lucky, we have a really smart and easy puppy. Mccans has made dog training so easy anyway! Its indoor so it runs rain or shine, and the trainers always gave a pearl of wisdom to offer for panicking new puppy owners. We would recommend to anyone!

So much care goes in to making this facility the very best place to train your dog.
The staff are exceptionally knowledgeable and genuinely care about the well-being of your dog.

Was a decent experience, good facility, most staff know what their talking about and were helpful sometimes but personally wasn’t worth the money that it costs, found that it hardly helped my dog personally and for the amount the your paying I felt that it wasn’t worth it for once a week grade one class of an hour and a half.
