We went to the store to purchase uniform. They were very rude and unprofessional, and they don't know how to treat customers properly.

Terribly slow service. 2 cashiers and 2 people in line took over 25 minutes. This was after the mundane back and forth of getting the clothes to try on.
This is completely ridiculous and it's like this everytime I come here. For clothes that are drastically over-priced you think they could take some of the profits into running a more efficient store. It should not take an hour to buy a few pieces of clothing.

Bought brand new shorts, worn once. Washed once in cold, hung to dry and they're covered in pilling. Very disappointed in quality. Will be coming Wednesday with them for refund!

Save yourself a lot of time and a huge headache and TRY ON EVERY SINGLE GARMENT YOU BUY BEFORE PURCHASING!
On Saturday, September 9th I went into McCarthy’s to exchange 2 pairs of my son’s uniform pants. We had previously purchased 3 pairs. As usual, we tried only one of the pairs in store and were given the other pairs in a cello wrapped bag.
We had all pants hemmed but only the original pair (that were tried on in store) were used to measure the required length for hemming. Seamstress indicated there is no need to try on and measure the others. The required length off the end of all pairs.
When school started and my son put on the pairs not previously tried on, they were VERY small. The fit one size smaller like his previous size 30 pants (he’s in grade 11 and we were purchasing a size up).
It turns out, the pants that didn’t fit are from a different manufacturer and McCarthy’s is trying to move these pants out. The “new” pants have an elastic waistband which explains why the one pair fit nicely and the other 2 did not.
I called head office prior to going into the store and David told me that I could exchange at the store. I asked if he could put a note on my file because I was worried that I would have a problem exchanging.
The young person who was checking people in was rude but that has always been my experience at this store, so I was not surprised.
The young gentleman who helped us at the table was great and said that the pants were from a different manufacturer. My son tried on all pairs so that they could see the size discrepancy. We were then told that there were no more size 32’s left. We had to go up a size to 34 so that my son would have something to wear to school.

I get to the cash and the gentleman says he has to call his manager. I have seen this woman before and how she treats customers and was anticipating an issue even before we began. I had no reason to assume she would treat me any better.
She was holding up the 2 pairs that I was exchanging, against each other, comparing them. I asked if there was a problem and she said one looked very different than the pair that I was keeping (the one that fit well). She said it must have been washed. I told her that none of them were washed because my son was unable to wear them to school. In fact both pairs that didn’t fit had 2 different logos/labelling on the inside of the pants. Who knows how old these versions were. And if they are made by different manufacturers, it is very possible that there would be a slight difference in the colour and feel of the fabric. She was looking for a reason to blame the size discrepancy and defect on me instead of acknowledging their errors. If you are trying to move inventory from one manufacturer then you should let your employees know so that they can check the pants and recommend that customers try on all garments.
The discrepancy in fit, although all were labelled as being size 32, is not my error, it is a manufacturer's defect. I had already incurred the cost of hemming and now I have to incur the cost again. I wasted over an hour of my own time on Saturday dealing with the rudest manager. She kept me waiting, lied about going to check for another pair of pants when I told her the other gentleman already looked. She came back and said, “where are the pants? ” when she was the one who took them. This is because she wasn’t honest in the reason why she left me at the counter for another 15 minutes.

She then said her manager said to just give me 20% off but she will do a straight exchange this one time and she’s “going to have to make a lot of notes. ” As if she is doing me a favour.
The manager did not even scan or enter into the computer that I was exchanging for the 2 pairs of pants that were size 34, so now my receipt does not reflect what I actually have. When I went back to approach her about this she was mumbling something under her breath. She said she’ll do it later.
She was beyond unprofessional.
