Wonderful art, well curated exhibitions and comfortable space.up until I was in the last room of the museum with works by Ann MacIntosh Duff. I was met with a woman with long grey hair letting me know I have to exit as the museum is closed and that the museum is open for free on family days. Interrupted by her abrupt request to vacate me 8 minutes before closing time, I paused for just a second in which she asked: Can you speak English? I replied with 'Oh, I thought there was still a few minutes left until 5' in which the other staff who gathered agreed, the museum was not closed yet. Even though I was already in the last room, I had to leave after the unnecessary interruption. Before I exit, I let her know that I can indeed speak English.

The sheer insensitivity of this particular staff's approach was unacceptable. She interrupted my visit and judged me by my appearance in order to what? Leave her job a few minutes before it closes?

McMichael is one of my favourite museums in Ontario. It is set in a beautiful piece of land which will undoubtedly inspire one to paint or draw. Stepping foot into the museum that was once a home to Mr. McMichael and family brings a feeling of contentment and joy.

The collections, the permanent and current exhibits are all well curated.

There’s a sculpture garden, the cemetery where some of the Group of Seven artists have been laid to rest, and a trail which is open to the public.

They sometimes have tours which are well organized.

Notice the beautiful contemplative spaces in between the art. An opportunity to read, journal, sketch, or just look at the surrounding nature. Very peaceful.

The McMichael Gallery is holy ground for lovers of Canadian art. Staff are exceptionally friendly, conscientious and helpful.
The McMichael Gallery has a huge collection of Canadian art and is showing a wide spectrum of work substantially beyond The Group of Seven. The collection is rotated and changed often, so there is always new work to be seen.
The extensive grounds around the gallery are full of walking trails and sculptures.

It was such a beautiful day to visit, and the Tom Thomson exhibition was exciting to see as well. The place was great with nice trails connecting it to surrounding parks as well, which is a nice stroll as well.

Fantastic experience taking the meditation walk and water coloring exercise. It was a surreal connection with nature and myself.

Take some time off from noise pollution, stress, and the hustle of life. Connect with nature.

McMichael Canadian Art Collection is a unique art museum stowed away in Vaughan in a beautiful estate property that also hosts weddings and events.

The gems here are Canadian art pieces from the famed Group of Seven and an artist Tom Thomson who influenced the group. In addition to the galleries they also host art classes.

We went to see the collection.
The paintings done by the group of seven are amazing.
We spent hours enjoying the work of Tom Tomson that was presented in the gallery.

Nice park with sculptures.
The upper level exhibition was nothing special. Lower level had a few interesting pieces.
Overall, it's not our taste.

The art gallery features and extensive collection that it rotates through its halls.
The collection is privately owned by several private owners that lend it to the gallery.
It contains alot of amazing work for just about any tastes and includes many prominent names such as the Group of 7.
Overall you are bound to see something new every visit.

Gorgeous location - the trails, sculpture garden, and cemetery are not to be missed. The special Tom Thompson exhibition was stellar but every gallery was full of delights. I'm glad I bought a membership - I want to go back again already!

This is an excellent museum with interesting Canadian art.

I want to highlight the cafe/restaurant which has an excellent lunch menu. The service is commendable - kudos to the wait staff and maitre d'. It is a good complement to the rest of the museum.

The sculptures garden curiously consists of the works of just one artist. The Museum should take note of such places as the Kröller-Müller, which has an interesting and diverse sculpture collection in their garden.

Everything else in previous reviews holds true and to try to add to those would be redundant. It has been MANY years since I have been here (sadly) as I remember the white table clothes in the restaurant on the lower level but now that is gallery space and the restaurant is on the Main Floor by the entrance. And a GOOGLE site said the restaurant was CLOSED Wednesdays (which did NOT make any sense) and it is NOT. It is open seven days a week but it is a bit pricey so be prepared to treat yourself.
However, I will add some information regarding the TOM THOMPSON TRUE NORTH exhibit on until mid-January. If you wish to focus on that.and it is SPECTACULAR.head to the RIGHT to a ramp up to the gallery. (There are elevators but you would need to ask for them).
To the left are the main gallery collections and they, as well, are spectacular.
You need to plan to spend a good amount of time here even to do a cursory examination of these amazing and varied collections.

Beautiful gallery inside and out. Love how the outdoors is worked into the design of the space - very Canadian! We enjoyed our visit with our young son. Only disappointment was to learn they don’t have a change table in the men’s restroom. This is not very inclusive and assumes every diaper gets done by mom, that every child has mom with them 24-7, and that every child has a mom period. None of these things are true and it’s an unfortunate example of old fashioned sexism in an otherwise modern space.

Beautiful venue for walking around to enjoy the outdoor natural surroundings or to gather to celebrate a special occasion especially a wedding!:)

It's an amazing place to visit any time of year. Try to catch a guided tour. Avoid weekends if you don't want crowds.
Plan on spending 2-4 hours here. The grounds are beautiful to walk through if you have time.
Parking is plentiful.

The children's art classes and summer camp are great. The children are exposed to so many mediums and techniques and guided gallery visits.

Adult art classes are also great, and they cater to different skill levels.
***please be respectful to the artwork and galley staff when they ask that you keep a 24" distance from the artwork. They are doing their job***
