Mel Lastman Square Rink

Nice place for outdoor staking in winter. There’re branches for people to sit and change skates. If you need washroom, just visit the central library.

Enjoy a great day by getting a coffee from the Starbucks and sitting on one of the benches close to the rink or the park:)

I couldn't really get the scope of this place because I went during the Toronto Korean Festival which had a lot of people. The Plaza looks like it can hold a lot of people and I believe it's also a farmer's market during the day.

Went for the Korean Festival! Such good food and beautiful water fountain in the middle. Great to see @kingdomcome among the vendors!

Great area to visit in the summer. They hold many festivals (I.e. "Toronto Korean festival"). You can watch performances on the stage. In the winter, you can skate on the rink.

Alway I had fun festival there.look for Mell lastman square events, There are lots of free musical and dancing festivals specially in summer time.

Jazz festival was really fun. Great environment. People playing table tennis and pets are around on leash.

Too many homeless people, smell of marijuana everywhere. The square itself is dirty, nobody is working on it.

Used to be one of my favorite places in city only couple years ago.

This place is just outside the subway station and when we went there, they closed the road because it was Canada day and they have a program the whole day.

One of my favorite spots in Toronto. Hard not to tear up over the tragedy that occurred when I remember.

A quiet oasis in the middle of one of Toronto's downtowns. Once known as Downtown North York, the Square at its heart is a beautiful, peaceful place.

Friday and Saturday night you can enjoy live music by "Maple Noyz".
Aside vivid environment with many people enjoy their moments all around. Many restaurants are close by from different cultures, from Sushi to Shawarma and frys. There's a restaurant I think called Frog Fry or something similar which I recommend beside many other chains like jack astore and Boston Pizza and.

A great spot to visit in North York. Most evenings there are very pleasant street performances which are suitable for any taste. Lots of places nearby from simple refreshments to full on meals. Parking is easily available. Pets, kids, seniors are all welcome here!

A very lively place to visit, especially when there are events going on during summer, nice seating area, has skating rink as well for winter activity

One of my favourite spots to relax at with a Starbucks in my hand, with its mix of trees and pleasant design of a public space. Plus its mere steps away from a great group of eateries and shops. This year 2021, the park staff have added more outdoor tables for your consideration. There's always a healthy mix of pedestrians who stop to relax making it feel alive! Watch for community events. Subway, restroom in mall, lower level of 5140 Yonge st (N. York Center). Square is wheelchair accessible.

This is always my go-to place to chill. Such a good park. Often time I see different events happening as well.

Good place for happenings, many events or food festivals. A pleasant place to enjoy the evenings, has the library close by, surrounded by malls, restaurants, easy to commute, adjacent to the subway.

Too many aggressive and unwanted people in the park, smoking, refusing to keep on distance, and begging money.

I participated in a lovely rally.in the words of a dear friend of mine who was also there, it was a joyous and uplifting rally in support of Israel, Jews, and peaceful coexistence everywhere!

Lots of open spaces to enjoy the area, with 2 ping pong tables and lots of benches. It can be crowded in the summer.

Nice little spot to go skating. Reservations are required due to covid but they have drop-in as well.

I always go here to skate. The rink is pretty decent in size and is always maintained and well-observed by personnel.

Arrived at 4pm, on a Tuesday and they were closed (tons of snow on ice rink, closed rink), with a bunch of families standing around, confused. They want us to make reservations for an outdoor rink, yet they randomly close?

I'll just come by late at night with a shovel.

I didn't get what l want l regret that the city service for infraction ticket place is closed. I saw so many people got crazy about it. You pay for parking for nothing. This the kind of city officials we have. During election time they tell you to bring the heaven down after you elected them. The provide with the earth. That is it.

Wasps are bad so hard to enjoy a coffee or treat. But the is square delightful violins played by Willowdale music School lovely. Market busy.

Became one of my routine outdoor work out place. Been stopping there to finish off my leg work out for last 5 weeks.

Actually, during summer, there is normally a multitude of things that take place there, but due to that b*tch that is covid19, I believe 2020 is a bust.

Last time I was here, I saw they had maybe permanently set up 95 Gallon Roll Carts in which to collect recycling. I was so excited because these were lined with LDPE 95 Gallon Bags! I hope to come when it’s warm and see the sexy janitors change them!

A nice open space. I think Mel Lastman was actually mayor when it was proposed. A little self aggrandizing really. Nice spot, especially if you like cement.

Great place to skate! Never too crowded like Nathan Phillips. Lots of kids though so be careful. Some kids don't have parents that tell them to go in one direction. Also late night usually some teenagers/young adults who think they're funny will jump on the ice with shoes only.

I came for Korean night and it was really crowded. It was a great way to spend some of the summer weekends

Great place to kill time in the area. Summer time offers a lot of local artists performing. Winter offers outdoor ice skating.

I always come here almost everyday. It is a great place to skate as there is not much people. However, there is no skate rentals. It is also near a lot of stores, restaurants and the library.

We were there for korean festival and it was pretty much interesting. They were very nice.
I’ve heard that there are many things are going on there, that’s true.during my visit I figured out some of their culture and attitudes which was very interesting.

I atiendes the Latín Fiesta on September 1,2019. Nice stage and there is ample sitting area around it.

Most of the times there are events happening down at Mel Lastman in the summer time and in the winter it is open for everyone to use the outdoor skating ring which isn’t too big but decent to hang out at

Great community place. Festivals all summer long, love the summer Sunday Serenades, and skating all winter. Food trucks always, right next to the North York Central Library, transit, town centre and about 100 restaurants within a couple of kilometers, love it!

I come here in the summer to make fun of tourists I come here in the winter to skate and make fun of tourists. Its perfect for bad people like me

This is our go-to place as it’s right by where we live and it’s such a beautiful place. There is always different stuff going on here; especially in the summer, from little concerts and festivals to fireworks on Canada Day and New Years Eve and Farmers Market on Thursdays. Lots of benches to sit, Starbucks, Toronto Public Library, a nice little food court, and a lot more add to its convenience. AND it is located right on top of North York Center Station subway.

I've been here a few times before, always for the same event (Alohafest). The lack of shaded areas is problematic, but otherwise, it's a great space for events.

Awesome place to go skating, not to crowded and never any issues. The zamboni clears the ice enough to maintain ideal skating conditions.

You just have to bring your skates and go on for as long as you want! Some hours are ery crowded but it is nice

Its the square for people who want a certain vibe but without the crowds. Love it here in the winter and even better during the summer with all the concerts and events going on all the time

Mel Lastman Square presents Spanish and Latin American arts, music, entertainment, culture and food at the Hispanic Fiesta every year. More than 20 Spanish speaking countries take part and about 300 artisans make their presence felt. It ran from 31 St August to 3rd of September, 2018 Friday to Monday. There are several stalls set up for selling a variety of eats pertaining to the Spanish cuisine. The food provided is good and prepared afresh and includes chicken, beef and pork. There were banana (plantain) preparations with cheese which I tasted for the first time in my life of 76 years. Besides these, they displayed beautiful dancing with different groups which I could witness and take pictures of some of them.
