Mellow Vibes Dog Training

Our German Shepherd rescue Cairo was a rescue - a street dog. He was sweet, calm and affectionate with us but walking him on the leash was anything but sweet as he was what someone called "leash aggressive" where he was barking and lounging at any dogs passing by and occasionally at people who were literally just walking by. It got to the stage where we were walking him at off peak hours because we didn't want to run into people. He was taking us for a walk instead of the other way around.

We were looking for a trainer in the city and came across Mellow Vibes. From our first consultation with Paul we knew we were on to a good thing. On our first visit he suggested that we switch to a Gentle Leader or Halti leash and offered lots of reasons why Cairo behaved as he did and ways to correct his behaviour. He took his time and listened and offered advice. After we left, changing to this leash made a HUGE difference.

We had to wait to get into the board and train program but all good things are in high demand! Nathan was Cairo's trainer and he kept us updated from the beginning to let us know how he was doing. When I picked him up he spent hours demonstrating what Cairo had learned and showing me how to correct my learned behaviours and how to correct Cairo's behaviours. I HONESTLY thought I had been given a different dog back. He's now calm around other dogs and people, walks at my heel, sits and comes on command just to name a few. All of this was just a dream before.

So from the bottom of my heart.thank you so much Nathan (and Paul). Mellow Vibes has made a huge difference to our family and to Cairo's life. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nathan, Paul and the team at Mellow Vibes to any dog owner.

I currently have a one-year-old potcake who started becoming reactive at around 7 months to door-knocking, men and children walking by, and other situations that don't call for him to be reactive. He was also pulling a lot during our walks, chasing squirrels, and running towards strangers while barking in their face. It was becoming such an issue that I was worried he would eventually become aggressive.

I decided to reach out to Mellow Vibes to inquire about boarding and spoke with Paul, who suggested we meet in person with Ollie to access his situation. During our meeting, he offered SO much information and suggestions on how to take on a leadership role to guide Ollie through those difficult situations. He also suggested using a Halti, which immediately helped with the pulling and in getting his attention.

After just a couple of days, I was seeing his nervousness and anxiety during our walks subside. It's been one week now and he's a different dog. He has barked just a handful of times, but he's allowed strangers pet him; he even did a full on butt wiggle at a few people. He doesn't even pay attention to kids anymore. His love is still for the squirrels, but he no longer lunges at them to get to them.

We took our dog Ash for 4 weeks board and train. She has come back as a totally different dog. She is so well behaved that we love taking her for walks. Paul did an amazing job. When we are eating Ash sits at her bed or on the couch and doesn't not bark or come to beg for food. This weekend we had 18 family members over and we didn't have to put her away or hold the leash. Everyone was happy and surprised how well she behaved.

5 stars all around. The city was so hard for me to find a reliable trainer. Especially for a rescue dog with trauma. I had about two trainers before i found Paul. They bailed on my dog after meeting him. I was in such a hard spot because Rolo was easily triggered by men and other dogs. He would try and bite and get aggressive. I was starting to lose hope. But then
we met Paul who was very accepting of my dog Rolo. After the program Rolo was changed dramatically. He loves men now and is able to play with other dogs. I still and will continue to use Mellow vibes for boarding as my job take me out of the city alot. I feel very secure when rolo is there because i know how happy he is. He actually gets depressed when i pick him up from pauls. He loves it there. Im so grateful to have found Mellow vibes for the rest of my dogs life.

I had the pleasure of having Paul train my 2 year old dog (Fuji) for 5 weeks & I can't say enough positive things about him. His expertise, dedication, patience & passion for dogs made a huge difference in our lives. He always made himself available to answer any questions we had & even sent us videos of Fuji when we were missing him. Once training was over, he continued to follow up with us to offer ongoing support & guidance to reinforce good behavior at home. We are so grateful for the exceptional training Paul and his dad did with our goldendoodle. We were struggling with managing her anxiety level in several contexts (crate training, barking etc) and could not have gotten to where we are today without Paul’s help and guidance.
