MeNami Udon & Sake Bar

Been here a few times and food is really excellent. Ordered the spicy seafood udon, and never disappointed. Not a lot of seating, so make reservations the day before. Service is good and prompt. Strongly recommend if you like Udon.

Made a reservation over a week in advance. Drove almost an hour in rush hour to be told they’re closed the next two days.

Would’ve been nice to have the courtesy of a simple phone call before making the drive….

Luckily, my most recent visit to MeNami coincided with when they were offering their Asialicious menu which included three courses for $30

The last time I was here, I really wanted to get their salmon tataki but they were all out. I knew I had to take my chance this time so I got that to start.

torched fresh sliced salmon, balsamic soy sauce, spring mix, and wasabi
definitely hit the spot, and the salmon was quite fresh!

squid, mussel, shrimp, green onions, mayo, sweet soy sauce, and katsuobushi
so if you are a fan of okonomiyaki, you will LOVE this udon like I do
I always default to this one or their mentaiko udon when I can't decide on what new udon dish to try

-[BLUEBERRY CREME BRULEE]
haha I know it's not a flan but that's the closest dessert emoji that exists
pretty decent dessert considering it was included as part of Asialicious

MeNami is a staple for me. Great food, service, and vibe. Try the curry udon with katsu and you won't be disappointed!

Lunch. Udon, tempura, and fried chicken are all delicious.
But the water is hard to drink.

I would’ve really liked to give a better rating to this restaurant since it came highly recommended but overall the experience was pretty disappointing. I ordered take away from them, the first item was the tonkatsu for which they forgot the sauce, so, basically just a fried pork cutlet, which was really dry and flavourless. When I contacted them about the sauce, they refused to arrange to get it to me. The second item was the potato udon, this was pictured with a very nice looking creamy potato topping on the menu, but in reality, it was a sloppy, liquidy mess. The taste was overall bland, but the curry was “OK”. Finally, there was a blueberry crème brûlée, extremely small, compared to the picture, but taste was decent, kind of generic.

Crazy how they automatically added 18% tips on our bill without asking. Service was ok. Would not come back

Been craving the cheese udon for so long. Finally ordered as takeout and it barely had any cheese on top.very sad and disappointed, but it was yummy.

Very small quantity of grilled saba and was smelling a little. Not worth the price.
Bartender didn't have customer service skills and didn't smile at us even once. Not going there again.

Summerlicious lunch.and this place was great! The 3 course menu is well priced and the choices are varied for all palates, from seafood, to chicken to vegetarian. Unhurried, friendly wait staff and service. Outdoor area can be noisy because of the street traffic.
Reservations recommended!

We got two unagi dons and tempura udon. Absolutely, positively delicious!

Wasn’t too expensive either! Love that they left us a water jug cuz I hate waiting for servers to refill when it’s empty. My family and I adored it as you can tell from my grandfather’s HUGE smile and my sister’s handsome face

I had the vegetable & mushroom udon and okonomiyaki. The broth had almost zero flavour, and the oyster mushroom was very bitter. They were nice enough to send a replacement udon and complimentary side dish. I've had okonomiyaki before, this one the texture was kind of flat, and there wasn't a lot of cabbage. Overall, I was disappointed by the udon but the staff was very attentive.

Summerlicious visit! Good value for all the delicious food. Ordered the torched salmon tataki, seafood yaki udon, and the blueberry creme brulee. It was filling and my tummy was very satisfied. Food came promptly, service was friendly. My favourite was the seafood yaki udon as it was very flavourful. Loved the atmosphere! Great to grab a casual bite or a meal.

Honestly this was the worst experience I’ve had in any restaurant. I hope whoever goes here have better luck and they don’t get the server named amber. Reason why is because she’ll give you the worst service. I just asked her to split the bill and lashed out on me lol, then she tipped herself 20% on every bill we split and just rudely handed us the bill basically throwing it. Never seen a waitress tip themselves. I’m never recommending this place to any of my friends or family ever and telling them to stay away from this cursed place.

I took my friends here who don’t live in the area and the service was terrible. We sat on the patio and we waited 15-20min to get our orders taken. We had to send one of our friends to ask them to come get our order. When we were done we just went inside to pay because it was raining and cold.

The waitress Amber was frustrated and yelled at my boyfriend while he was asking for separate bills. When she put the price in she tipped herself 20% without letting us choose the tip (note we were only a group of 4 so we were not a big group or asked for them to do much for us). I’m so shocked with the service. I’ve never seen waitresses tip themselves before.

Overall bad experience and bad service.

This place used to be good but the quality of the food has really gone downhill.we ordered the chicken karaage which was rock hard and inedible.overall i wont be coming back.

I’ve been to MeNami many times before. The portions are small for the price but the food is usually good. Today the udon soup was too salty but the karaage is always good.

The service was the real problem for me. Our waitress, Selena was impolite and unhelpful. She came by multiple times before our entire party arrived to see if we were ready to order and once we all arrived and ordered, she was barely present. I would understand if the restaurant was really busy but there were multiple empty tables on the patio and indoors. When we asked for a fork, she gave us a dirty metal fork with some greens on it still. We asked for a new fork and she rudely handed us a wrapped plastic fork.

They also automatically charge 18% tip on tables 5+, no wonder the waitress didn’t care about providing good service. I’m really disappointed as I have never had a bad experience here before.

I bought the tonkatsu but it was somewhat underwhelming and the sauce that it comes with did not fit as well as it could’ve. There Uddon was good but the broth is nothing special.

Let me start by saying the food here is absolutely DELICIOUS. Authentic tasting food without the overwhelming smell. Their 2 recommended Udon dishes, the creamy potato curry bowl and the oven baked cheese bowl were simply unbelievable. Amazing, continuous friendly service all throughout. It was such a great experience all around and after coming here the first time, I have recommended it to pretty much everyone I know. Authentic, delicious Japanese food with great service.

Summerlicious strikes again! We went for the dinner and was pleasantly impressed by how delicious every dish was. From the tapas to the desert, each dish exceeded expectations. The atmosphere was amazing with great music and wonderful service from John and Dee. Couldn’t take photos fast enough, it was too yummy!

Very interesting Korean/ Japanese fusion menu. A Must go before 2023 summerlicious ends. Enjoy

Came here for the udon. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce was well seasoned. We came for lunch time but I would recommend the thicker sauced udon to be more of a dinner meal as it sits heavier

Ate dinner on the patio with my family tonight and had a really nice time! We had different items from the summerlicous menu, including the salmon tataki and corn kakiage appetizers and the spicy creme seafood udon and seafood yaki udon. Friendly servers and they allowed our small dog on the patio, which was appreciated.

The food was great except a dish or two but the service was such a huge disappointment. Selena was our “server”. Not everyone in our group has seated yet she kept rushing us to order (it was not busy, there were multiple tables open). After we placed our order, the only service we got was having our food and drinks delivered to the table. When asked to fill our water jug her expression show unwillingness. We asked for a fork but it came dirty (green onion and sauce on it), when we asked for a new one she just gave a plastic fork. They remove our empty bowls along with our cutlery when we still have side dishes to eat. Since we came as a group of 5 we were charged a mandatory 18% tips after tax which we would be perfectly fine with if we at least got at least some service. Would definitely not be coming back due to its service.

MeNami is one of the popular udon bars in Toronto, bringing here the art of udon-making from Japan. Those fresh bouncy noodles are truly distinct from the usual variety!

Seafood Yaki Udon is a tasty udon meal layered with bonito flakes on top of shrimp, squid, mussel then drizzled with mayo, green onions & soy sauce. A creative & delicious rendition.

Rice is on menu at MeNami too. Curry Rice with Pork Cutlet is one of the classics emulated here with minced beef, cumin & onions in Japanese curry sauce.

They also offer a selection of sake & drinks. It’s clear why this is a tasty spot for socials.

The udon is quite chewy and the portion is okay but the broth has too much msg for me. Tempura udon included one shrimp and three pieces of vegetables. Seafood udon has a bit more variety with mussels, shrimp and calamari. Pork cutlets with rice is the best of all. Service is courteous though 18% tips compulsory for table of 6.

We had the most wonderful date here. The sake floats are incredible, and the curry udon was to die for. My favourite dish, however, was the torched salmon.

I recently ordered the pork cutlet with rice and Japanese curry from this restaurant. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my experience. The portion size was noticeably smaller compared to my previous visits here a few years ago. Additionally, I was taken aback by the inclusion of an 18% gratuity charge, which I personally find unreasonable. Having previously worked at a restaurant, I understand that charging a gratuity for larger groups is customary, but it felt unwarranted considering the minimal service provided for our group of 5+. They didn't even do something as small as asking how our meal was or offer to refill our water.

To make matters worse, the food itself was rather lackluster. It took over 45 minutes for our orders to arrive, only to discover that the taste resembled nothing more than a microwaved curry from a grocery store like H-Mart. The flavors were underwhelming and failed to meet my expectations.

Overall, my experience with the pork cutlet, rice, and Japanese curry at this restaurant left much to be desired. The smaller portion size, unnecessary gratuity charge, and mediocre taste were all factors that left me dissatisfied.

The place was very vibrant and cozy. Looks like a nice restaurant to go on a date. Went here with a group of 8 which meant 18% gratuity and one bill which was no problem. I got the fresh salmon don and yuzu mojito which was quite delicious! I highly recommend this dish and this drink. I will be coming back here to try more of the other dishes!
