The technician team of Stephane Desjardins is extremely good in doing pool closings for Mermaid Pools. They also did jet replacements on my pool in ground pool two years ago. This team is first class and I would highly recommend them. Very happy here I would give them an 11/10 note.

The staff were on time and very friendly. My only complaint would be they did not put the pool stairs in the garage like I asked and left garbage on my deck.

Moved into a house that had a pool and hot tub, so I can’t speak to that ‘hard goods sales or installation services’ side of Mermaid’s business. But. Brian, in the Merivale location, is exactly what I was hoping to find to be my go to for chemicals, parts/accessories/equipment and more than anything - someone I feel I can trust. Someone who is professional, to say knowledgeable would be an understatement, but is happy to take the time, he’s personable and extremely helpful (helps get me whatever I need even if it needs to be ordered/he has to deal with a vendor for me - he makes it happen/follows through and ALWAYS follows up with me). He’s the reason I go back there. He’s totally honest about what he likes or doesn’t, suggestions about products needed and ones that are more optional and helps me try to customize my approach for the pool and hot tub based on the equipment I have (eg ionizer vs saltwater chlorinator, chlorine vs bromine, types of chlorine to shock pool vs oxidizers). I’ve tried the other local stores and have yet to find anyone who matches his level of knowledge and professionalism, the follow through/helpfulness clinches the fact that I have zero interest in going to other Ottawa pool stores. Anytime I walk in there, over the past two years, if I see he’s there, it’s a feeling of watching Walter kronkite vs modern day “reporters/media”. The guy is integrity. 100%. As long as he’s there, I’m a customer and will refer everyone I know. Hope mermaid knows what a huge asset he is.

Installing a new skimmer went without a hitch but when I tried to acquire a new gas pool heater I was not informed I would have to have a separate technician to install the heater. As I did not accept the heater on delivery (which cost almost twice as much as another pool company) I was then charged $200.00 to return the item. I feel this was an error on Mermaid Pools part. They told me there would be a $95.00 extra charge if they couldn’t deliver which was not the case and then informed me it cost more because I hadn’t cancelled 24 hrs. In advance which was ridiculous as the delivery charge was included with the installation charge which they couldn’t do as they do not have gas technician. Was I to know this meant they could not deliver a functioning piece of equipment. Totally disappointed in Mermaid Pool company.

Mermaid Pools have been looking after my pool since 1999. This has included installing new liners, and opening and closing my pool every year. Staff has always been helpful, knowledgeable and very pleasant. The technicians are very friendly and quick at doing their jobs.
Steph has been opening and closing my pool for years and was able to get the problem resolved right away today.

I went to the Merivale store about a month ago. I was approached by a very friendly and professional sales person. He asked appropriate questions and had us in his office crunching numbers within 15 minutes. He emailed me the quote so I could go home and talk it over. I came back to the store a week later. They gave me a great deal on my pool. They were friendly and professional and made the buying experience easy and pleasant. The pool was then delivered within a couple of weeks and less than a week later it was installed. Total - less than a month between shopping and having a pool in my back yard. Jackie in installation was very professional and helpful.she made it easy to get everything ready and made sure I knew what to expect.
The installation crew were very professional and polite. They got the job done quickly. They arrived at 710 am and the pool was full of water and ready by noon.
This is the second time dealing with Mermaid. The last time was the same. Great deal and great service by everyone that works here. I highly recommend this store if you are looking for a pool.

I would like to thank everyone we dealt with during our pools renovations! A shout out to Myrtle for her help with ordering our liner, new pump, filter and Ionizer. To the team that replaced the liner - it looks amazing! To the team that installed the new pump etc.great job! And another shout out to Steph who went above and beyond solving the leak that our 20+yr old pool had. We are very happy and will enjoy what is now a brand new pool (essentially) for many years to come!
