Nice store, good atmosphere. I don't usually shop here as the prices are a little high but if you watch the flyer they have decent deals once in a while.

You can find items that you will not find elsewhere, they have a big variety, well organized but alot of items are overpriced. So you'll have to check elsewhere sometimes same item same brand is for higher price so be selective, especially if you have a big family

Great place to shop & lots of groceries to choose from. I would highly recommend this grocery store to my friends

Very well organized & clean. Some prices are sky rocketed. The fresh take out foods are good, but the scalloped potatoes were undercooked. More attention needed for the food preparation section in the store.

Hadn't been for a long time and they had everything you could ask for. Lots of single serve items. The only thing was the self serve checkouts were confusing. Other than the checkout confusion, great experience.

Would give -5 stars if possible.worst customer service at the deli counter I have ever seen, specifically Trudy.

Formerly a 24/7 but open until 11PM now, this Metro location has many available cashiers at any given time and generally fun staff to make small talk with.

I’m not quite sure what to make out of the way we were treated in this store this evening. After waiting at the bakery counter for 20+ mins, being ignored by several staff who we literally waved down and spoke to, a staff member finally came and asked why we’re standing there. Hoping to get some assistance, we replied. Probably a bit annoyed but certainly not disrespectful or rude. He obliged and called someone. After waiting another 10 mins an employee, who had walked by us twice, came and asked us to leave. Apparently asking for help here is against the rules. I understand places are short staffed, but if they didn’t have anyone who could help us at least they could’ve let us know. Even a sign indicating the bakery counter was closed would’ve sufficed. There were three other people waiting there before we arrived who just left. I’m not sure this is really helping their bottom line.

Kinda pricey for certain day yo day things but they have great quick meal options for families with busy lifestyles. And they have a decent bakery in there as well.

Thank you Metro Adelaide! I order a few trays for a customer appreciation morning, everything was amazing and our customers enjoyed everything. It was a great way to say thank you! We followed Roger to this store and have no regrets, he is an amazing manager who cares! Keep up the great work!

Additional: the store is fresh, clean, well-kept, not messy. Some staff are very polite. I had two bad experiences yesterday, however, on the same day. I paid for my groceries at the customer service desk. I asked for a free Covid antigen kit. With these in hand, I proceeded to exit, but was blocked by two other customers and the cars of one of them. I asked them to please give me way. They did not hear me, and a clerk runs after me, and asks, did you pay for this? In front of other customers. I showed her my receipt, and she relaxed. Was this necessary?

On this same day I had prescription filled for antibiotics. Four pills a day, for seven days. Next day (today), I counted the pills, there were nineteen pills. I had taken five. So they gave me twenty-four pills, instead of twenty-eight. I called, talked to the pharmacist, who asked me to bring in the pills. Why? He does not believe me I can count to nineteen? I guess since his clerks can't count to twenty-eight, it is a valid suspicion on his part. I said, could you please deliver the missing four? He said, there is another way, come in tomorrow. I said, no, I am not spending two more bus tickets when I can get the four pills somewhere else. I show up, I said, and it's not guaranteed I'll get the pills, because the technician who filled my prescription won't admit to his or her mistake.

Two embarrassing mistakes on one day, neither of which was doctored to my satisfaction, is too much from this horribly customer-disoriented retailer.

The above was an edit 2022 03 16. Below is something I had written much earlier, several years ago. I had been to this store about three times since I had written my last review. I can't resist checking out their discounted grocery stand.

First the good news. Prices are lower than at other major brand retail grocery stores and supermarkets. I love the discount rack of veggies and fruits.they are very good to cook, to eat, they only look overripe. Selection is full, never short of anything I like to buy, and I am a diverse shopper. The negatives: The employees (esp.the cashiers) are snobs. I go everywhere with a bike, and they brand me a criminal bum. In their minds. The situation is exacerbated by the fact I speak with a heavy accent. They may be xenophobic, I don't know. Once a woman cashier saw me push a cart full of stuff, outside of bags, to my bike, as I have a buggy trailer, and did not buy bags. She screams to another cashier, so everyone can hear: "Linda, did this guy pay for his stuff? " I was so upset I mentioned this to the management at my next visit. Manager apologized. Another time they overcharged me, which I don't mind, it was only a dollar, but my wife was with me and she demands her rights as she's a locally born Canadian woman. She complained, then a different cashier runs over to our cashier and whispers something into his ear. My wife said, "let's go to customer service to get a refund" on the strength of the no-overpricing policy. Again, I wouldn't have bothered, but my wife insisted. The customer service representative told me that the item has not been priced with a code, but was entered by free-hand or whatever similar method (forgot the exact expression). This was more than embarrassing, it was humiliating. They seem to enjoy to humiliate customers, even if regular and loyal, if the staff think the customer is lower class. (I hold a computer science degree and have retired from a banking position.) Never been back to that store since this second humiliating experience.

Wow, I'm a harsh critic, but Kayla at the hot foods counter was just the best! Made this visit literally exceptional, and made my day!

Bright, cheerful. Aka they have my favourite caramel ground coffee and silk almond coffee creamer. Seafood staff went above and beyond to find my son the right seaweed snack.

I needed oysters. Honestly this is the place for fresh, really good sizing and fantastic pricing. 25 Malpeques for $14. Staff is always very friendly.

My go to Metro store. Clean and Tidy, Well laid out. Meat department is fresh and staff are very helpful. Bakery is organized and well stocked. Produce is Fresh and inviting. I can always find what I can't find anywhere else. Staff is friendly and always there to help.

One of the big store where you can fine approximate every kind daily living items like food, frozen food, vegetables, meat, fish, bakery, kitchen and bathroom items.

Just way to overpriced, even higher then the superstore. Horrible experience. Employees ignore as well.

Rude staff and horrid management. Was followed around and felt up by staff becase I was wearing a backpack. When cornered by the manager at the front of the store he demanded that I opened my backpack (fair enough), however seemed very mad to find that I had nothing other than my professional cameras in them (which I refused to leave in my vehicle in the parking lot given their value). He then demanded that I show him my ID and I was grilled for having cash on me. Point of note - having cash is not illegal and having a backpack does not make you a thief. I was told to never come back after checking out with 125 dollars of groceries have having just donated to the food bank.

It is worth mentioning, since you are juding my appearance and mad that people have money, that I hold a PhD in Forestry, instruct at a university, am a professional Ornithologist, am a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and have run Scientific Expeditions for the Canadian Governent.

Lesson being: don't judge by appearances, presume and get mad when you are wrong. Management should be better than this. Strive to be better than who you act like you are. Look at the reviews judging people seems to be a hobby here.

You should expect more of yourself.

Everything is fresh beyond belief! Clean, well stocked and easy to navigate! I picked up a beautiful cake from the bakery, it was light and delicious.

Manager needs to learn to be courtesous to customers. I went shopping tonight with my wife and the short manager made a point of bumping into us several times and calling me "fatty" and "big guy". When I was an Assistant Manager at the A&P at this location under John Manax we made a point of being efficient and not mocking customers regardless of their appearance. Yet now when the manager's only job is to put people into the right check out lane things seem different. Staff are free to roam, follow young ladies around the store and management can make fun of how people look. As a point however a 3 feet 5,250 pound manager should not be calling anyone - let alone a 6.1,155 lb individual - fatty. Learn professionalism.

I went there at 12pm today and as i was paying, the cashier (cashier # 133 specifically) that was on the register near the self checkout was very very rude. I would rethink have having her as an employee because she has no respect for customers.

While this is a large store and fairly clean with friendly cashiers, it seems terribly disorganized as far as putting "like" or co-ordinating items or products in close proximity to one another. Other than that the real issue is that Metro as a chain, is far more expensive than most other large chain grocery stores and even Walmart has lower prices for the same grocery and sundry items - hence the reason for the low rating.

Produce is fresh. Quality is excellent. Shelves are kept stocked. Bakery, fish and meat department have excellent products.

Fat short assistant manager likes to follow women around, harass them, and then gets mad when after physically searching them he discovers they are NOT shoplifting. I want to know why me having money in my wallet is a problem. Short fat man seemed very mad that I had cash on me. Odd. Likes to mock people - very unprofessional and rude.

Staff are very professional and curtious. I love how clean this store is. Management keeps this store well stocked and well organized. There is an air of friendliness and staff are extremely down to earth. The sanitation and cleaning protocols are well enforced and up to covid standards, you feel safe while shopping here. Absolutely incredible beer/wine selection. Better IPA selection than the beer store 2 blocks away. I highly recommend shopping here. I find this buisness impressive!

Ok. Declared as my official grocers. I like Metro very comparable to Staters in the states. They have variety of everything. I find that you have to shop at specialty stores to acquire authentic foods. It's a different style of eating internationally. Like the variety is real and the availability is spoiling in the states. I found that you might have to go here for this or there for that. Real Canadian and Metro hace been my one stop shop grocery stores. I met the GM of metro today too and he was a super cool dude. Friendly experience here too. Everywhere really. My BBQ tonight will consist of Metros finest: Chicken, beef and pork kabobs, roasted sweet potatoes, grilled parsnips with carrots, and crab legs.
Went back and got taco shells for consume tacos! My family and friend enjoyed.

Elana, a staff member at this location is absolutely horrible. This wasn't my first negative experience with her sadly. And from what others have shared with me about her and her lack of common decency and respect for customers, its mind boggling how she is still employed there. Just disgusting how she talks to customers.

Very clean and we'll laid out store, plenty of descent sales on lately, was able to purchase the absolute BEST Cheese Buns from the Bakery and could not resist their cakes (ask them about their "Maple Syrop" Cake- it is rich and to die for!

It's my favourite groçery store. The staff are fantastic. Excellent manager, and a some of the staff are really exceptional, outstanding in terms of customer service. Well they are all good! They've kept it going all through the pandemic. Great place to shop.

From the very onset of Covid, this store has 100% of my confidence. The restrictions in place are well executed. Cleaning of display areas and door handles is constant. The store greeters/security are on top of their game in a friendly welcoming way. Manager and assistant manager are excellent at their job. There seems to be a wonderful team effort amongst ALL staff.

I was amazed with the wonderful staff at the Metro today. I was stressed because a family member was celebrating a milestone birthday, and due to the COVID lockdown, it would be impossible to have any sort of party or even a family gathering. In fact, I was a thousand miles away in another province. I called the Metro hoping there was something/anything I could do, and I was thrilled to discover that the Metro delivers flowers, that I could customize the bouquet, and that they would also deliver a birthday cake with a personalized greeting. I was also able to include a balloon and candles. The order was finalized over the phone with my credit card (I think they also accept debit cards). Everything was delivered as one complete order the same day, The florist (Christine?) handled everything. She even texted a photo of the entire order before she finalized it. I am including a pic of the beautiful flowers and the yummy Lindt cake.

Clean, well stocked, well staffed grocery store. A little on the expensive side in comparison to other big chain stores.

A bit of a let down as my $30 in gift cards from food bank were not accepted at Metro so I continued to the Real Canadian Superstore where my cards were good 45 min walk from metro but the store was clean. Organized with sale items at ends of isles and marked clearly within the isles staff at the super store were helpful, courteous, friendly with all covid rules in place including a young girl directing us to which register was avail. Which made it good for s@fety as most cash lines had only 1 person at them while others waited in line about the middle of the store with distancing marks in place. Pricing is about the same as Freshco.

Yesterday, I went to buy my prime rib special. And I ordered my piece through the butcher, since my size was over the ration limit. The employee was clearly annoyed by my requests. Thankfully this store manager had the utmost class and made me feel like I mattered. This store manager, Ron, clearly had the training and experience to handle this situation and diffuse the problem right away! Ron promptly responded to the issue with minimal effort and ease, he was most concerned about my customer satisfaction and negative experience. Once again, he immediately resolved this issue with great class. I am now again a happy customer thanks to Ron. Thank you Ron, for showing this wonderful example during this stressful, unprecedented time. You are the type of leader that I would want to deal with at any corporation, you’re a born leader.

Good grocery shopping places.
Prices are completely reasonable, sometimes sale items are with excellent best prices.
All sections are well maintained and properly arranged, it’s easy to find items from the store.
Deli centre, Produce, bakery, fish and meat are good with customer service and quality items.
Floor clean and properly maintained walkways too.
Main attraction is wine store and beer collection.
They provide student discounts too. Outside parking space is not bad, weekends are always busy.

Only just noticed is cash counters seems crowded mostly and they don’t open all counter unless crazy busy. So always big line up for billing.

Safe grocery store, staff are friendly and courteous. Thanks for keeping us safe in during this pandemic.

They advertised a brand of orange juice but didn't have it and wouldn't issue a raincheck for it.

Ever since the renovation and start of pandemic this store has raised the bar. It is extremely clean and they are serious about covid rules. Generally well stocked and always have some good deals. I try to do all my shopping here to avoid other stores and crowds.

Nice selection of products. Prices have gone up on many. Patrons don't read signs, don't follow big arrows on floor, frustrating customers and staff.

Great place to buy groceries. Fresh fruit and vegetables, great prices for meat. Friendly helpful staff.

I would like to commend the Cheapside and Adelaide Street Metro for their handling of their operations during Covid. I really appreciate the effort to keep customers safe by only allowing a certain number of people inside. Great signage at the checkouts and thank you for respecting my safety.

Staff at the Pharmacy are excellent. We drive from the South end of London to the Pharmacy because how dedicated and professional everyone is that works there! Metro at Adelaide & Cheapside is doing a great job at cleaning carts after use and reminding shoppers about social distance guidelines announcements. The floors are very clean

Does this store not enforce COVID masking requirements?
Sunday afternoon (2: 30) woman with 2 boys 10 & 12 years old? , shopping with no masks, then crowded me at checkout.no masks in sight. ‍️

I can't believe people shop here regularly. Is it that they feel spending more money on the same items means that they are some how superior? If anything, they're being taken advantage of for either not being able to get to and from the closest grocery store (fresh co) or for their lack of awareness.
Yes, I was there. I was purchasing a sale item at the seafood counter. It I could have pulled a cleaned fillet out of the Thames I'd have done so.

This is our neighbourhood grocer. Their new renovations are awesome - clean, bright, open. They have been a GOD SEND for GLUTEN FREE options. Thank you team, thank You SO MUCH.
There’s a great variety for unique ingredients both in produce and non perishable.
We buy lots of fish and specialty cut meats, they are knowledgeable, accommodating, and have great sales. The day manager is always on the floor, kind and smiley. We are, and will continue to be loyal customers! We look forward to being able to return with our littles and use the much coveted fire truck shopping carts. Xo

Was treated like a thief before I even entered the store today, by the day staff manager of all people. He was extremly rude and seemed exhausted, I understand this, as I work at Lowes and get like this sometimes aswell, but I would never treat a customer that way. Ive never stolen from anywhere and I did not deserve to be outted out infront of 10 people and treated like a child. Just for wearing a backpack I said I would take off and put in my car. I will not be coming back to this location ever again.

This used to be my favorite go to grocery store. Fresh produce, fresh bread and good meat selection. They even had awesome pizza made to order while you shopped. Unfortunately, this is no more.

They sold us a pizza that was several hours old, and potatoes salad that had the seals broken. The pizza cook even said that square pizza (artisan) was no longer offered because of COVID. Round pizza was apparently COVID safe, but couldn't be cooked to order. Oven was on, all signs still showed available, but all we could actually buy was a pizza that was several hours old and dried out.

Needless to say, Metro went from 5 star favorite to 2 star dog. I will be looking for a new grocery that approximates what Metro used to be.

Fat man at the entrance policing who would go into the store wouldn't let my wife and I into the store unless we relented our shopping bags at the entrance. There were a lot of folks in the store that had their purses and shopping bags, so why couldn't I shop with mine? I felt as if we were viewed as hooligans by this man and I was personally insulted because I felt as if my wife and I were being viewed as "not good enough" to shop at this store. I am almost 30, I look like a teen, this is age discrimination.

Was told I couldn't take in my shopping bags and had to leave them at the entrance even though people before me in line with shopping bags went right inside without being told to leave them and saw multiple people inside the store with shopping bags as well.

Has everything that you need with great produce selection and deli. Very clean store, but must admit it is a little pricey

Would have given 5 stars as store looked great and customer service was outstanding however the prices were higher than the other stores in the area. Quality was better as well but not enough to offset the price difference. If I wasn't a senior on a budget would shop there more often but every penny counts at my age.

This grocery store is a little pricier but has sooo many options, and we are never disappointed with the produce or bakery. The owner is also extremely nice! Very friendly staff
