I have always liked this store but in the past few months it has gone downhill badly. One big complaint is the self checkout. I have a bad back and these are not set up well for folks who can't bend over. Today I was waiting in the long line for a checkout with a cashier and Mollie the cashier was extremely rude. Ignored me and walked away when I asked her a question. One of the other customers came up to me after and said the store had really gone downhill and price were terrible. This is the 2nd time in the past month I've had a bad experience at this store. Except the occasional special sale items I will not shop this store again even though it is the closest to where I live.

Have some real snotty staff and management. Was there today have a special needs person and 2 people was talking about her. A good job she did not understand. They should be fired or report to head office. This store not with one star

They have really rude management and cashier pick on special needs people. Should be a shame of themselves. Just because people have alot of bags on them think they are stealing should bring back plastic bags them. Not with one star.

Watched a group of young employees laugh and watch a disabled woman struggle through self checkout.horrible service.seem to hire horrible people

Clerks mostly ignore your struggles with self checkout while they stand and chat. Zero customer service.

For what I went for trip was quick but supervisor was a man of few words (aka ignored all questions asked of him as if I wasn't there. Name was James.

Their parking lot is a joke. The crossing from parking lot to store is atrocious and dangerous. I watched two drivers, go through the stop sign in one minute of standing there, just today. This needs to be fixed as I have had people ask me to walk them over, or I am held up at the cross because drivers are refusing to stop. This store needs more stop signs out there to make things safer for your customers. As of right now I do not feel safe, in their pakring lot, or to even enter the store.

You pay a premium compared to other stores. In return you get long waiting lines at the cash register.

I don't normally shop there but the lady at the checkout was very nice.

Our family often chooses Metro for our groceries.
I picked up a vegetable tray for a gathering and tons of veggies had visible dirt on them. Not washing the vegetables could get someone sick!

Good selection and prices that seemed OK. Still added up way too fast! Friendly service, fast checkout.

The bakery is my favorite department, the produce is usually top notch too. Unfortunately, sometimes the prices are a bit high.

Everything in their fish section is just for decoration. They've been sold out of sushi and wasabi for 3 months. The frozen food all has freezer burn. They only have ready made sandwiches once a month. Here's an idea though, once you sell out of a item how about you order more and restock it so you can make the store more money? Isnt that how a supermarket is supposed to work? Why are you trying to poison people with old food? These employees are deliberately trying to run this business into the ground.

Several of the front end staff are uneducated about the store, & very unhelpful - telling customers they don’t know where items are in the store & to go ask someone else. This has happened to me a few times & I’ve also seen it happen to other customers right in front of me. The people at the hot table give such small portions, perhaps they’re told to do so but for the price of a lunch meal, what you get is not worth it. It seems others are also complaining about the staff at the hot table / deli, and I too have experienced how miserable and unhappy they are. When you call the store no one answers the phone, overall the customer service is not good & the food quality for the price is also poor.

Very organized clean and good staff. However, shop their if you are rich. Prices absurdly high.

Pretty good selection of weekly sakes. Some specials are sold out over the weekend.
I need to shop earlier.

Nice store.dissapointed that went in at dinner time to purchase plant and have it gift wrapped.no one in floral dept! That time of day many buy flowers to take as a hostess gift.

Most of the store is great but there is a lady who works in the deli and it's pretty clear she hates her job. I sent my wife to get sliced meats and I was very disappointed with what she returned with. The meat was not placed on the deli sheets, just thrown into the bag in clumps. I spent about half an hour picking everything a part and laying it out flat. We asked for things to be sliced a certain way and she completely disregard it. If I had been the one picking up this order I would not have accepted what she handed me. Please get new staff or move her out of that dept. I only went to this store for their deli. I won't be now.

I went in on first day of flyer and asked butcher for item that wasn’t in meat section. Told me flat out he “didn’t have time to prepare” no offer to have me come back to pick up later. Cobourg Metro HANDS DOWN has the better customer service from butchers, to Deli.
Last week I went to deli dept.looking for cooked chicken breast. They had none there so I asked if they could cut up from whole chicken. Nope, can’t do that!
I was in the Independent a couple of weeks before that and they actually OFFERED to cut up chicken for me! Guess where I will continue to shop.
Worst service ever, every time I go there’s an issue.

Decent variety of produce, organics, and good selection of meat and dairy as well as vegetarian options. Great bakery - cheese buns are the best! Usually well stocked and clean and organized with large aisles.
Prices are substantially higher than other local stores.
They have added a self checkout area and last time I was in, there were no cashiers available and I was directed to use the self checkout. For this reason and higher prices, I doubt I’ll go back.
