I visited the Metro store today and encountered a disappointing situation that raised concerns about both their product management and customer service. While browsing, I noticed quite a few Olympic Krema yogurt products on the shelf had passed their best before dates, with some dating as far back as December 25,2023. I approached a staff member nearby to inform them about this issue.

Unfortunately, the response I received was far from satisfactory. The staff member insisted forcefully that the best before date does not imply that the products are expired and maintained that they were still "good to eat". I understand that selling dairy products past their best before date isn't illegal, but the manner in which the conversation was handled was quite unpleasant. The staff member raised his voice, showing a lack of professionalism and customer care.

I was just trying to help. It's concerning that a store like Metro, known for its reputation, has lapses in product management and customer service.

I am a regular customer of Metro Merivale. I had very bad experience multiple times as one of the associates named Theresa harass me everytime and pretend that i am a shoplifter because of my skin colour. She picks random items from my grocery cart and accused me that I didn’t scan it but I did. I think that she needs training on racial discrimination.

Clean and nice shopping environment. They have all-natural pork with skin for a very good price. I have not found this type of meat selling at this price anywhere else. And the price for lamb is also very affordable.

Only reason I stop in here is because it's close to home. Prices aren't great. The staff are always miserable and seem really bothered to help you (their job). Deli, bakery and meat departments close at least half an hour early. Sad store.

They sell food and plenty of parking in front. Which is better than other stores in the area.

Shopping here was a nice experience. I decided to try their deli meals and they were all so-good and really affordable. Give then and try too and have your experience.

Such a great selection of fresh vegetables.

I’m usually a Loblaws shopper as they are next to condo; but Metro is always a nice treat.

I am always happy with the staff members here.extremely polite and helpful more than you would think! If I cannot find the particular item I am seeking, the employee I approach ALWAYS brings me to the actual product, not just tell me "aisle 6 bro". They also have great deals on every day items you would normally cook with, it's just a matter of keeping up with their flyer. It's always chalked full of great deals!

Finding fresh produce at this location requires searching and a careful eye. Metro lacks variety and will feel stressful for those on a tight budget. It lacks the cheaper off brands that other grocery stores offer and the smell of their seafood section permeates through half the store.

I love this store! They have a great deal on pizza at 9.99 for a large 3 topping I only had one small issue with pizza being over cooked once but, I assure you that was a rare acurance, very friendly staff always smiling happy faces.

Started shopping here 6 months ago and love it. Good value, smaller store makes shopping quicker and products easier to find. Love metro brands, the deli meats, and staff have been friendly, kind and helpful.

I really like this store. They are environmentally friendly.as in they don't use plastic bags. They use paper. So bring your own bags is you don't like the paper ones.

Had a great experience with their Cashier Andrew. In a day and age of poor customer service. Andrew and his other Cashiers are great

It's a nice store. Decent prices when on sale, airmiles rewards, clean and lots of variety. Checkouts can get busy but they stay ahead of it decently well. In all a good store!

Great clean grocery store, friendly staff, fast service. Slightly higher prices than some other stores but worth the few extra dollars.

Overall decent selection, but quality of produce is often lacking and moldy foods have often been found on shelves.

This store is quite big and layed out well. I am new to this area but I always shop Metro. After I frequent this store a few more times I will post a more detailed review.

We decided to look at potato chips and bread while picking up lotto this evening.

Both bread and chips were overpriced across-the-board. FreshCo is far more affordable for that and most other items

I'm only reviewing the staff who have always been informative and very helpful. The gentlemen at the meat counter are especially knowledgeable and offer good advice. (they haven't steered me wrong yet).

Hadn't been in to this grocery store in quite some time and was very pleasantly surprised by the deals. Definitely will be going back every second week for groceries. The layout of the store is inviting and the bakery has very nice breads and the meat department had some good deals.

Mary the manager went above and beyond for us aswell as her staff at bakery and meat counter. Head office if you are seeing this, recognize excellence please. They are gems to keep!

It was fine but when i was at the cash i noticed a reese's package ripped open and thought someone was bold. But then a nother look and there was two packages like that. And a better look i could see the mouse droppings. I did show the cashier.

The younger girl in the bakery is absolutely a fantastic employee go out of her way for the customers every time

Big market, but more expensive than Real Canadian Superstore. Sometimes it provides good discounts on many items.

Talk to the Fishmonger. He told me the weights of the lobster and picked me big ones. They are $7.99 each

Clean, well maintained store. Very helpful employees. Unfortunately, the trainees on cash do require additional training when it comes to packing things in the appropriate bags. They needed to be told to put the cold stuff in insulated bags and dry goods in regular bags.

Horrible, waited in line for 1 item for half an hour. Must open an only 1-8 item/beer/wine lane. Maybe 2 lanes during busy time. Thanks.

I love metro! Lol barrhaven location should know me and my husband pretty well. I always find nice deals and they have a very friendly staff! My place to go (even though I have freshco behind me lol) The reason why I put 4 stars is not because of anything bad but the fact that they are not open 24/7.

Amazing customer service, the cashier helped me save money during a checkout when she didnt need to.

There is always a lot of sales, the staff are very friendly and it's very close to the bus stop. It's my first choice for shopping.

I hit this grocery store at off hours, but there are always enough people working and they are friendly. It isn't overcrowded like the value grocery stores

This is one of the best metros I've been to! It is huge, fully stocked, well laid out and it's just a nice clean store! I visit my family in Ottawa from Montreal often and if I have to hit a grocery store, this is the one it will be! Even when there are lines, we've never waited long and staff is friendly and helpful. Its also in a great location for the area!
