Wonderful 1940ish atmosphere.
Had lobster ravioli with exactly done pan fried scallops.
The braised veal was cooked to delicious perfection.
The basque cheesecake desert was so flavourful.
Just a delightful experience.

Dined at this French brasserie in Ottawa and was thoroughly impressed. The delightful atmosphere, complemented by warm lighting contributed to a charming ambiance. The service was excellent, with attentive staff.

I opted for the calamari to start and steak sandwich as my main, and both dishes exceeded my expectations.

I’ll definitely be back to try more of what they offer.

As upscaled as this restaurant seems the obiance is quick cute however I would consider going elsewhere for a fancy dinner. This locations is far from fancy but very pricey!
Definitely stay clear of calamari which one would think would be crispy and fresh. Not only overly burnt, stringy and not edible. Bread is a $6 charge and.not offered at the start of your dinner. Steaks are not the same oz as on the the menu.
Definitely reconsider your evening out.

Our drinks and especially the service were excellent. However, after eating the steak frites here my boyfriend got food poisoning, so would be weary of coming back.

Located on the corner of Rideau Street and Sussex Drive in Ottawa, Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that transports you to the streets of Paris. On a scorching Monday evening, my companion and I had the pleasure of enjoying their inviting patio seating, which provided a perfect setting to unwind and indulge in their delectable cuisine.

Despite the restaurant being quite crowded, we were pleasantly surprised to find numerous empty seats available when we arrived at 7: 30 PM. This allowed us to select a comfortable spot and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere while basking in the warm summer evening.

We opted for the fish and chips and the club sandwich from the menu, and both dishes surpassed our expectations. The fish and chips were impeccably prepared—crispy, golden-brown batter encased succulent fish that flaked apart with each bite. Accompanied by perfectly cooked fries and a tangy tartar sauce, this classic dish satisfied our cravings with its delightful flavors.

The club sandwich, another standout, was a harmonious blend of savory ingredients. Generously stacked with layers of tender roasted chicken, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and creamy mayo, each bite delivered a symphony of textures and tastes. It was a delicious testament to the kitchen’s skill in creating satisfying and well-executed dishes.

The service at Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant was commendable. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. They offered helpful recommendations and promptly attended to our needs, contributing to the overall positive impression of the restaurant.

One of the highlights of our evening was the ambiance. Sitting on the patio allowed us to soak up the lively atmosphere of Rideau Street and Sussex Drive. We enjoyed people-watching as passersby strolled along, adding a touch of urban charm to our dining experience. The blend of the bustling surroundings and the relaxed patio setting created a unique and enjoyable ambiance that enhanced our evening.

This was my second visit to Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant, and it certainly won’t be my last. I highly recommend visiting on a summer evening to take advantage of their inviting patio. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a leisurely meal or simply unwind with a refreshing drink, this restaurant offers an enticing combination of delectable cuisine, attentive service, and a vibrant atmosphere. Embrace the spirit of Paris in the heart of Ottawa at Metropolitain Brasserie Restaurant, and allow yourself to be transported to a world of culinary delight.

We were here tonight. Service was terrible and slow. My husband ordered the lobster thermidor, the lobster was so dry and overcooked, we sent it back to the kitchen and the waiter came back saying that we needed to find something else on the menu. 35 mins later, after everybody finished eating my husband finally got his plate. We asked for water 5 times, we never got our water. We also waited too long to pay. The bill was almost $500. It’s a disappointment. I do not recommend and I will not go back.

Horrible experience at this terrible tourist trap resto. Don’t let the 4.2 review fool you. This place was a disappointment from the moment we arrived. Made a reservation for 3 and a 4th joined us. The very rude female front end host (with glasses) was actually upset that she had to add another menu to our table. She said and I quote “I’ll have to change tables now! ” when there were only 4 seater tables available. She then insisted there was no dining inside despite me seeing multiple tables eating and drinking carelessly. I should have left right then and there but didn’t want to upset the rest of our party so we sat down. We had a nice Aussie waiter and that’s about the only thing that was positive about the entire experience as the food was terrible! Ordered escargots and the cheese had hardened and the dish was cold it was left so long. Ordered the seafood tower and it was the worst rubbery previously frozen seafood experience I’ve ever had in my life. It included shrimp cocktail with no cocktail sauce, Oysters with no horseradish, and they even forgot the the lobster claws which was added mid way though our meal. I may not be French, but I do know that this is not a true Brasserie by any means and would be an embarrassment to any French or French Canadian I know. Please save your money and avoid at all costs!

Delicious oysters, steak and truffle sandwich made me forget that I was at a business lunch. Great service! Definitely one of Ottawa's gems!

Staff were terrific, I had two eggs over easy with bacon, deep fried potatoes and brown toast, everything was well done, although the three thick slices of bacon were maybe a little over done. Place has a great vibe.

This place will be a go to place for me whenever I’m gonna visit Ottawa from now on. From ambiance to service to quality of food everything is really good. Was craving for a good balanced something sweet. On servers recommendation ordered my dessert. It was divine. Balance was on point for me. Highly recommended.

Les 2 étoiles sont pour l emplacement seulement! Arnaque!

Great staff. Great service. Good patio. Good food. Good wine. They're doing a great job incorporating COVID-19 protocols.

Delicious food and great location too! Chantal is the one who assisted me today and make me happy just by her smile and vibe. I hope they could also put someone infront (front staff) with the same energy and accommodating vibe like Chantal.

First time eating here, and it was meh. First off, the waiters/waitresses did not look the most appropriate based on their attire and cleanliness. The staff are representing the restaurant so when you have staff who look grungy and unkept, it doesn't give off the best vibe. The food was okay. The croutons in my Caesar salad where soft/stale but the greens were good. I ordered the scallops and I felt like the dish was small for what I paid and not very creative. 6 small scallops siting on a bed of mash potatoes with a huge piece of melted mozza cheese. One dimensional and quite heavy. Not the best place I've been to all in all.

The Met is an Ottawa landmark. Beautiful old European bistro atmosphere and a big open air terrace make this restaurant a very pleasant spot to spend an evening. The menu is also classic French bistro staples, but don't expect the quality to match the high prices unfortunately. This visit I ordered the oysters and ceviche to start and was disappointed. Ceviche is supposed to be cured in lemon juice, but this had absolutely no lemon or seasoning. It was more like sashimi. I had the Bouillabaisse as a main which was also disappointing considering it was $35. Nothing was "bad", just not up to my expectations.

Had their "French Picnic" takeout to eat in the park with my wife on our wedding anniversary. Wonderful meal with attention to detail. Highly recommend.

Worst calimari I've ever had in my life. Even chewing gum is easier to chew, those rubber pieces wouldn't break under my teeth and forget about that dipping sauce, tasted like it had been in that jar for ages - I'm glad I didn't take the beef tartare if it was anything the the calimari I would have been in the hospital by now

Order a couple of appetizers and main dishes. The staff were really helpful and patient with our questions. The food was delicious and very well prepared!

We recently ordered take-out and went to pick
it up. The service was quick and the food was ready at the time we requested. Staff was also very friendly. We ordered mussels and fritos, steak and chicken fingers. Everything was very hot and tasted excellent. We will definitely be ordering take-out again!

Not really tasty. I ordered steak frites and was disappointed.tasted like supermarket frozen steak. It was served almost cold and was really not tasty. I think it’s ok for a drink to enjoy the nice patio but definitely not for the food: (

Was one of my favourite spots for happy hour when I lived in Ottawa. Oysters and jumbo shrimp were my go-to and I miss it all the time!

We were at the Met on March 7th for a birthday. The service and food was impeccable! We had the Seafood Platter, oysters, jumbo shrimp, cocktails, wine, and desserts. The Met's Covid safety precautions made us feel VERY safe. Thank you!

Ambience+, Great service, better drinks.

Always a good time. If you're a first timer, ask your server what they recommend and just get it. Odds are you won't be disappointed

We wanted to support a local small restaurant as we’re able to dine in restaurants again.
Chantel was absolutely lovely, who recommended two tasty cocktails to accompany our French onion soup on a chilly day, and the soup was delicious. The interior decor is charming of a typical French bistro. I highly enjoyed an afternoon lunch at the Metropolitan.

We had been looking forward to the seafood and were very disappointed overall. Ordered the tuna tartar, which had little to no flavour. The seafood tower had a lot to offer in it; however the mussels were cold with no sauce? The crab was so cold that it tasted like it had just come out of the freezer? The oysters and the fries were the best part of it.

When asked how the tuna tartar was we said "it was okay" and the waiter didn't ask more and did not ask us how the seafood tower was.

The oysters, fries and drinks are what I'd recommend. I will not be going back again though, overall poor experience.

We had the four course New Year's Eve menu. The kale salad and squash and pear bisque first course was great. For the second course we had white bean and mushrooms on a baguette and stuffed agnolotti. For our delicious mains we had the filet and lobster and crab with the tomato, seafood risotto. Desert was stunning, we had chocolatted croissant cake and a flourless choco tort. The croissant is some of the best desert I've ever had. Food to die for!
