Been coming here periodically for years pre/para-COVID. +3 stars: This a great little shop for unique gifts, stationery and beginner-mid level friendly arts and crafts supplies. If you have an artist in your life and want to find a unique gift they'll adore, I'd recommend this place.

N. B. Not as extensively stocked as other art supply stores, so if you're an art/design student as I was, may not suit all your speciality needs or budget-this place is more for hobbyists or parents tbh makes sense given the location/demographics.

-2 stars: My experience of their customer service has almost always been a mixed bag of super friendly/quirky staff to downright snobby.

Today was unfortunately the latter: two of the cashiers chatted about a customer spending lots of money at the shop while my partner and I waited to be checked out. I had placed the item on the counter and received no acknowledgement whatsoever as they continued their convo they felt like they had to make us listen to.

We waited for what felt like an indecent amount of time, enough time for another customer to come behind us; and these two brilliant young ladies to get a clue from their floor staffer. To top it off, the cashier who finally checked us out made no eye contact, was unfriendly and vapid in her demeanor. My partner who is usually very lax was also extremely annoyed by this whole experience.

I loved coming to this place up until this point. There is no excuse for this lack of common sense let alone customer service. Maybe they misunderstood the assignment? Smh.

Fantastic staff. They understand exactly what it is I need and provide lots of pointers/advice. They are definitely on the pricey, so watch for that!

I went into the store and was looking for something and they ask me if I need help I said that I’m good and was trying to find something and also looking around. But the staff person kept following around and that’s really so uncomfortable please if you doubt ALL your customers for theft I’m sorry! I understand but it’s way too much. This incident has been so disturbing, like I wanted to buy a couple stuff but I ended up just leaving the place because that wasn’t welcoming at all. To mention I didn’t even have my bag I was in my jacket that’s all.

As a life-longer Beacher, Midoco has always been my go-to for art and stationary supplies. The staff has always been helpful and friendly.

I read a review here by Kelly B, and her experience wasn't ideal. I had kind of the opposite thing happen to my son and I. When he was almost three years old he pocketed something when I wasn't looking. When I discovered it at home, I marched him right back and made him fess up to what he had done. The staff handled it very well (it was a trinket, a small, cheap thing - but it was theirs and not my sons) - and they graciously accepted it back. My son, very contrite learned a very good lesson that day, in part to the understanding of the staff.

I had popped into Midoco today with my 10 year old daughter. We have been steady shoppers here for 9 years. As we walked down the isle an older man stopped us and told me I needed to leave my backpack at the front counter, I respected his request as I work in retail and understand that thefts do occur and that this is some stores policies. As we continued down the isles the man kep looking at us as we looked at things, my daughter said “why is he watching us like that? ”. I started to notice that there were about 5-6 other people in the store, all with bags, purses and backpacks. I was offended, so when I went to the front cash, the man was nowhere to be found. So I asked the young lady at the front “is this your new policy? ” She said yes. I asked “then why does everyone else have their bags? ” She responded “because refusal”. I did not believe it as their was a group of young girls my daughters age wearing their backpacks. I’m not sure if it is a new policy, I’m starting to think he asked me because I have tattoos and that he was stereotyping me as the people in the store were very young, or fairly old and casual. Either way, I’m offended and me and my family will never step foot in this store again. We will move our frequent bussiness to Above Ground for gifts and supplies.

Small store, smaller selection. Best stationery in the beach.
