Definitely not worth the wait but the food is not bad. The cheese tart is to die for, while the huevos is very bad. The pancakes are fine. For some reason they use a big part of the dining room to stock stuff which they hide behind screens. It's a little weird.

Why would you not visit Mildreds while being in Toronto? This place is a staple of the right atmosphere and great food. Mimosas are great! The pancakes. OMG! The best I ever had. I will would bring my girlfriend, mom, dad, grandparents, and even the neighbors I hate just to share this amazing experience!

Be ready for a long wait time if visiting on weekend.
We waited over 90 minutes to get seated. That was when we got our name added to the wait list at 11 AM. Not fun at all.
The place looks good and well spaced out, still it was super noisy somehow when we were there.
Food menu has limited items on it. Ordered their famous pancakes which did not disappoint. It was delicious. Not overly sweet.
Also got Veda's choice with smoked salmon (There was a thin film of salmon-could have done better there). Still delish.

Our server was fast and responsive. Kudos to that!
Overall good food if you dont mind waiting.
15 November 2023 6:47
Yes, there will be a wait but its worth it especially for the pancakes. The drinks are well priced and the steak and eggs were great, and pastries tasted fresh. Friendly staff and beautiful interior decor.
10 November 2023 15:43
Coffee cold. Food, cold and not very tasty. Limited variety on the menu especially for brunch. My ceaser salad had no dressing on it. Server was really really nice though.
10 November 2023 5:09
Love the place…. Good ambiance, nice atmosphere. Food is ammmmazing… loved the blueberry pancakes… but on weekend it’s quite busy and no reservation, so it’s better to maybe book the spot for waitlist before coming. It took us an hour and half to get the table.
16 September 2023 21:42
First time at Mildred’s and I absolutely loved it! Everything from the food, service to ambience is lovely and I can’t wait to come back. Shout out to our server Claire, she was fabulous!
20 August 2023 8:40
Shocking service. Passive aggressive attitude from the start. Pancakes arrived fast but were cold and hard, yet the waitress made a face (which seemed to be her custom throughout the whole service) and insisted in response to my question whether they were freshly made that she had brought them as soon as they were ready. Made me actually wonder how they were ready so quickly. Then she brought me a couple of cookies to take away as a compensation, to which I said there was no need and she replied (you'd never guess) stressing that they were rejects and would go into bin anyway. Well, thank you very much, that was so gracious, but perhaps you could take them home. Maybe my pancakes were rejects as well. Staff obviously need basic training or just need to be replaced. Would not recommend. I paid 30 dollars for pancakes and a cup of tea, some of the worst spent money in Toronto.
21 January 2022 5:53
Mildred's Bluberry pancakes are the best. Usually really busy on weekend brunch, recommend showing up early as they don't take reservations I think, but worth any wait.
17 January 2022 16:35
Amazing brunch spot to go to. I love the ambience of the restaurant and the food is just amazing. We tried the famous pancakes from this place and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The service was amazing. I love coming here
11 January 2022 9:29
Ordered the huevos monty, and was not disappointed, especially when paired with bacon and the hot sauce (which is very tasty).

The place has a fancy-ish vibe and is almost always full. You'd be well advised to go a little early to account for the probable waiting period.
01 January 2022 10:00
There are no reservations which means you have to stand in line just to get on a 2 hour waitlist for what ends up being very mediocre food. If the food blew my mind, the wait would be a non-issue.but if waiting 2 hours is the standard you would hope the food is at least worth it.

Nice servers. Really nice looking place. Other than that, food is just ok.

If waiting in line just to get in another 2 hour line for an ok brunch sounds like fun to you then I'm sure this place is a fine way to spend your weekend.
23 December 2021 8:55
I don't usually write reviews but in this case I have to. 5 stars for service and of course food!
16 December 2021 22:38
An official decree should be issued for people of Toronto to come to Mildred’s only. The wait can get dreadful BUT it is absolutely worth it!

Once the wait time is over and you’re seated, start with some fries and hot sauce on the side (trust, it is the best you’ll ever try). Go with HUEVOS MONTY and tell the server to make a note for the kitchen to hook it up with the cheese (you’ll know what I mean). Don’t forget the hot sauce, have fun with it and add it to every bite. Lastly, end your brunch with their infamous Mrs. Biederhof’s Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes. It is out of this world, never have I ever tasted something like this. It is simply the ultimate foodgasm to a whole different level.

Anyhow, enough of this review. Just go, go wait in line and enjoy your time at Mildred’s with your loved ones. Something to mention as well, their hospitality and service is second to none. Other establishments should take a note how it’s done here.
15 December 2021 8:08
The pancakes were amazing 10/10 would recommend. The shashuka tasted different than regular shakshuka but it was still super satisfying! I'd defs recommend trying the pancakes though! So yummy:)
10 December 2021 7:37
Amazing pancakes / scones and good ambience. There’s a line up on the weekends and perhaps during the week as well. Worth it to try once for sure. Would return.
09 December 2021 9:18
Lovely staff at the front and on the floor: kind, attentive, and caring. Delicious items for brunch (the pancakes were fantastic), will certainly come back!
01 December 2021 8:26
The food here is delicious, especially their blueberry pancakes. You have to order that if you go, trust me. It’s probably the main dish I’d go back here for. The wait to get a table is probably my biggest issue with this place. We arrived early to get a seat and we still had to wait 2 hours to be seated for a table for 3! The blueberry pancake and super kind service indoors made up for the long wait.
26 November 2021 21:32
First time visiting Mildred’s and I loved it! I read reviews that stated it’s best to go early to the restaurant and it’s not a joke, I lined up at 9: 30am and the wait time was close to an hour. The food is amazing and the lineups are out the door, but it’s completely worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back for Mildred’s yummy brunch!
26 November 2021 8:21
Food was okay, but they messed up 2 orders and food came late. Very disappointed and I don’t think I’d go back again. I wish they had a better service.
22 November 2021 3:48
The place is pretty, their food was great, and overall really good customer service. However, expect long wait times.especially during the weekend.

The wild blueberry buttermilk pancakes were the best pancakes I've ever had thus far! If you ever go here, you MUST get the pancakes!
17 November 2021 15:30
One of the Brunch stalwarts in the city. Always high quality, though be prepared to wait. Bright and airy space with a fresh, buzzing atmosphere. The Croissant Breakfast Sandwich is excellent.

Dish to Try: Croissant Breakfast Sandwich
14 November 2021 21:31
It was my first visit to have brunch with my wife. Its wide-open interior design was very impressive. The food and good staff service were excellent, along its ambiance. Blueberry buttermilk pancakes are best of the best food.
09 November 2021 0:20
I have to agree with others and say that I had the worst brunch experience here. Waited for one hour to sit at the patio…food was below average, but the worst part was the amount of wasps that were flying around people and food. It was awful, uncomfortable, and the waiter taught us a “trick” of covering our food with napkins…as if that solves the problem. You need to take care of this wasp situation and pay some respect to the people who come here to eat your food.
08 November 2021 21:14
The blueberry pancakes were good and really sweet. I felt full half way through the brunch, which rarely happens! The place has beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. The waiting time on weekends can be really long, it took 2 hours for us on a Sunday.
08 November 2021 21:12
The blueberry pancakes were worth the one hour wait! They don't take reservations but you can put your name down and they send you a text when a table is ready. Staff was very friendly and professional and the service is quick. Highly recommend.
06 October 2021 13:18
Best pancakes in the city hands down! Everything about my experience was great. The staff, the food, the service - it was all top notch!

The place is known for their pancakes and did not let me down. Had their Veda’s choice which was amazing but could do with a slightly larger quantity.

Got complimentary scones to go which was a great gesture! Will definitely be back.
26 September 2021 7:48
This is a good brunch place, however not sure it’s worth the wait times. The pancakes are good but overrated in my opinion. I would go again but not sure I would wait for seating.
26 September 2021 7:04
My first time back since the pandemic began and we had the best experience. But I will first preface it by saying, we did wait 2 hours to be seated. I have never waited that long for a table ever, however, the staff was extremely empathetic and apologetic. The restaurant is unfortunately running at a 50% capacity so be prepared to wait long if you show up at like 11am or 12 noon. Once seated, everything was quick quick! The server was attentive, the food came quick and it was delicious as always. (The pancakes never fail to impress) My friend also noticed that the manager was constantly helping out the staff so much and easing frustrations by offering take out to those customers who did not want to wait. This is great leadership! He was leading by example and we love to see that. Thanks team! We'll be back soon:)
25 September 2021 0:36
Love this place. Brigitte, Pablo and Scotty are such great servers, they’re so hilarious! Food and service is always great here. Salmon Veda was light and delicious.

I’ve seen people complaining about wait times and wasps in previous reviews. I don’t think you should judge your opinion based off of these. The food and service is worth the wait and when it comes to Mother Nature, the servers do their best to ensure the best patio experience!
16 September 2021 15:02
My family love this place! Our favorite is the pancake, burger & ribs. The staff are all nice especially Kimee & Helena. Michael the manager is amazing. He treats you like a member of his family.
14 September 2021 5:52
This place is really not worth the hype. Pancakes were way too sweet and eggs benny meal was small. If you want the best pancakes in the city, go to School Restaurant, not too far away! Oh and not to mention the 2 hour wait time and the insane amount of wasps flying around our table.
12 September 2021 10:22
Beautiful little restaurant with delicious brunch options. One of the best blueberry pancakes I have ever had. Excellent service.
11 September 2021 1:52
Be ready to wait cause the wait is much longer than you'd expect! Amazing pancakes - definitely worth trying. Huevos Monty and Veda's Choice were good, but not as special as the pancakes. The smoked salmon in Veda's Choice was quite salty. I would visit again if the wait isn't too long:) Definitely recommend this place if you haven't visited before!
26 August 2021 17:14
Great place for brunch if you are willing to wait. The food and service were fantastic and special mention to Pablo our server, who was delightful. There are no reservations, and it is walk in only, which means the wait on the weekends can be in excess of 2 hours.

Also the pancakes deserve all the praise they get. Thick, fluffy, and covered in delicious blueberry sauce, a must have.

Ps.make sure to try their new hot sauce
20 August 2021 2:19
The food was good but the wait and organization needs some attention.

We arrived at 11: 15 on Sunday morning and put our name in for a table. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We waited. We came back, they said 15-30 more minutes. We grabbed a few drinks elsewhere and waited… 1: 30, we noticed several groups who checked in after us were seated. We check in again with the hostess if we could finally have a table or if we should give up.she was surprised we hadn’t gotten a text to come in yet.

We waited another 30-40 minutes for our food. Luckily, it was tasty. They were also out of frites, I asked them to sub bacon and they did which is why I’m still willing to give 4 stars for good customer service!

They label the sangria as “boozy” but it tasted more like frozen orange juice. So sweet. Depends on your preference
18 August 2021 17:08
Amo este restaurante, PERO SIEMPRE TIENES QUE ESPERAR 2 HORAS Y SIEMPRE HAY MESAS VACÍAS!

I love it! WHY WE NEED TO WAIT FOR TABLE ON SUNDAY AND THERE ARE EMPTY TABLES ALWAYS:/
27 January 2021 14:22
The team at Mildreds were a delightful help in preparing my large order of pantry pancake mixes for client gifts this holiday season. They even went above and beyond to include instructions on how to make the pancakes without buttermilk. Thank you Mildreds and Chef for being so gracious with your time and support. Can’t wait to dine again here in person!
06 January 2021 1:11
Excellent food, but the place operates like food take out so on the top of top prices the minimum tip option is 15%. What for; passing food over counter
06 December 2020 7:40
Super fluffy pancakes, good flavour and quite filling. Really nice spot, but very difficult to get in - there are no reservations on weekends and it’s usually busy so be prepared to wait!
24 November 2020 15:25
Can never go wrong with Sunday brunch at @mildredstemplekitchen The blueberry pancakes are what they are known for and they were fluffy and delicious. Can definitely share with another person, this way both of you can try one savoury dish and one sweet! Just ask for an extra plate

Was over an hour wait for a table but worth it! The blueberry pancakes were delicious and so fluffy! The atmosphere at Mildred’s is very hip and bright
28 October 2020 11:55
Post covid quick review: pancakes are still solid, some of the choices aren't available anymore. Bring back the shahshukas! The Vedas are excellent with perfectly toasted golden s. Service is excellent, but not enough people so your table may not get attention sometimes, wave down any of the wait staff - they'll always be helpful!
04 February 2019 11:52
01 February 2019 12:16
We visited on Saturday night for dinner. Making reservations were super easy, and it wasn’t very busy. We got the duck & waffles, and curried cauliflower.

Overall, the food was good, but some of the combinations we felt were out of place. Like the warm grapes with the cauliflower. The service was fast and friendly though, so that was really nice.
25 January 2019 20:26
I wouldn't say this is one of Toronto's top 10 brunch spots. The pancakes were OK but the rosemary bacon was tasty. With so many other options in the city I don't think there will be a 2nd visit.
24 January 2019 0:21
Always an amazing experience here! The service, food, atmosphere.it's perfect!

We arrived at 10am on Sunday and there was already a small lineup but if you come with more than 2 people, you shouldn't have to wait too long as they have more tables for groups.

The food speaks for itself as it is as good as it looks. It doesn't matter what you get here - all the dishes are flavourful and amazing. But make sure you get the scones and pancakes; Mildred's is known for these dishes! But it's so filling so make sure you come with a few people so you can share and still try their other dishes on the menu.
19 January 2019 20:08
The food was delicious, really decent price, good ambiance the waitress was great but the food took a long time to arrived. I would definitely recommend but don't be in a rush.
18 January 2019 19:38
This place had great food! Luckily we got there early so the wait wasn't to long. I can say the side bacon was great. The portion size was pleasantly more then expected. As everyone mentions, the pancakes are great.
17 January 2019 8:33
Great food paired with a lovely space, what more can you ask for a perfect brunch experience!

I ordered the Veda's Choice, which is Poached Eggs with Smoked Salmon on a Croissant. The food is top notch and the service is amazing. For the price, this is a great spot for a classy brunch!
13 January 2019 21:20
On a Sunday and during the holidays was very busy waited 1hour was worth the wait. I was in for the blueberry pancakes which is good and big portion Bacon was really good as well freshly made.
The only thing is I have noticed that they are not well organized for groups of 6 or more coming in to eat.
09 January 2019 21:23
Good equilibrium of price and quality. Great service but the food at dinner time could be better if served with less flavoring, like salad with less vinegar, hamburger with less onions, etc. Going back to experience the brunch next time.
05 January 2019 6:42
Went to Liberty Village on Saturday night for a birthday dinner. Had a nice bottle of Cava and a good meal. Staff was very attentive and the noise level was conversation friendly Place was clean and bright and seats about 50 people. Tables are nicely spaced. The four of us were very happy with our experience
29 December 2018 11:31
The food is amazing, the wait staff are fabulous. That said, I went there on Sunday December 16 to have brunch by myself. I gave my name and was told there is a 45 min.wait and they will text me when a table is ready. I came back after an hour, told them I had not received a text and it's been an hour. The hostess in a dismissive manner said: "oh! Well! We got really busy. I can get you a table since you have been waiting! "
I was seated at the bar and not a table. The woman who looked after me at the bar was lovely and attentive, she was the only person who softened the earlier blow.

I spoke with the manager on duty afterwards. She was very polite, professional and offered me an apology.

The whole point of taking people's names and numbers is to keep track when it is "really busy". Had the hostess been forthcoming and said, I am sorry, I missed your name on the list, I would have been very happy and would not have posted this review or spoken with the manager.
28 December 2018 14:47
Dinner = 0stars
Brunch = 4stars
Overall average in terms of food is 2/5

Been there for breakfast a lot, the food is okay and there are long waits always! The staff is friendly and the service is fairly good.

The dinner is horrible! I did not like the menu and it was too late to walk out because I was with people. I ended up getting their cauliflower soup and an appetizer (both were tasteless). I was so sick after. I have no idea what they had in their food! No wonder the place was dead on a Saturday night.
26 December 2018 2:40
Don’t advertise your close times as 3pm if you’re going to turn people away at the door between 2pm-3pm. We travelled a substantial distance to eat brunch here only to be told that no one’s being added to the brunch list. Reasoning: “our production line can’t match our numbers. ” Ok. Perhaps you can put that in big bold letters on your website’s home page. Bye Felicia
23 December 2018 2:46
Walked into a large but quickly served line. They mentioned a long wait time for the groups of people but I was solo. Sat at the bar instantly and my pancakes were served in minutes.
22 December 2018 14:22
I was on a solo trip to Toronto and looking for brunch places. I'd read about the pancakes at Mildred's, and luckily it was a 10 min walk from my airbnb.
Luckily I'd reserved a table as upon getting there (at 11am) there was already a lineup, it moved pretty quickly though.
I ordered the pancakes and a coffee, grateful that the coffee had refills! The pancakes were incredible, I've thought a lot about them since. So thick and soft and basically just outright delicious. I didn't think I'd finish them but I did!
Really good service, I had the choice of sitting at the bar or at the table they'd kept me. Also very motivational with the pancake eating!
When I visit Toronto again I'll be back for sure.
22 December 2018 8:37
Had a great family breakfast Sunday morning. Place is busy so go early and be prepared to wait, but it's worth it. Hands down the best dish is the blueberry pancakes.an easy called based on the fact that every table had an order. Was also pleasently surprised with the steak and eggs on sourdough. Steak was cookes just right and the eggs perfect. Side of bacon was even better. Just the right amount of crispyness without being over cooked. Will definitely recommend and even return. The one draw back is that the menu is limited and as they're busy there can be a wait to sit and for food.
17 December 2018 19:56
Ok the pancakes are pretty good same with the scones.
The atmosphere and service both are great.
They even allowed us to bring our coffee from outside which was cool of them. The reason we had coffee next door is because they said our wait time for our seats will be over 1 hour.
The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is because they originally told us it's about 1hr and 15 minutes wait time so we went next door to Starbucks ordered coffee sat down had a sip, 15 minutes has passed and they texted us to come back lol.
When we come back they tell us to stand on the side wait to be seated.
We were standing for about 30 minutes then they seated us right next to where we were standing and the 2 seats was empty for about 15 minutes lol.
The food the place the service is great but seating department has some issues.
13 December 2018 20:50
Great place, I've been twice and everyone at the table have always enjoyed their food! Service was great my last visit, however it can get hectic around lunch. Food is on the upper end, meaning most meals will be above 16 dollars. The portion sizes are decently sized, but I don't often find people are starving afterwards because the food quality feels very high.

All in all great place to go once and a while, but not something I would be able to do frequently because it's fairly expensive
01 December 2018 19:56
Fantastic. The wait time was an hour and a half for brunch, so call ahead or make extra time. They text you when your table is ready.

But the pancakes. Oh my god these might be the best pancakes I've had to date. An inch thick and fluffier than a cloud, they soaked up the maple syrup like a sponge. A hint less sweet than Belgian waffles, which really allowed the creamy buttermilk to come through. Perfectly airy, like a new pillow that still has the puffy bounce. Even the blueberries were just tart enough.

The big skillet breakfast wasn't worth it, lacked salt and had too many flavors. Same with the tart. The grilled cheese is a must.
22 November 2018 22:41
The rumors are true. You MUST line up well before they open if you want to get in for brunch. We got there just before opening and were probably 15-20th in line. The initial seating happens very slowly (to avoid overwhelming the kitchen, maybe?), but once you’re inside the waiting isn’t bad. I love the décor in Mildred’s: it’s open and bright, but full of quirky design choices. There are a number of table options (4-tops, booths, a bar, high-tops, semi-circle booths) so it was nice to wait a few extra minutes to get the best option for us.

The service is great. The coffee options are spot on. But the food. OH the food. Pancake hype is nothing new…and I always have my reservations when a place is known for something like that. So much so, that I tried a different dish and just ordered a pancake on the side. To this day, I’m conflicted by that decision. The pancake was INCREDIBLE. Flavour-dense, but still fluffy. Perfect texture. Large enough to almost be a meal on its own. Should I have JUST ordered pancakes? Could I have handled more than one? These are questions that will never be answered (until I go back).
Long story short, the pancakes are absolutely deserving of their reputation. No matter what you decide to order, please at least order one. Or share one with a friend. It doesn’t matter.

I ended up with the “Big Brunch Skillet” as a side to my pancake, and the pulled pork was fantastic. Pulled pork, beans, and a fried egg are uncommon allies…but but worked oh so well together. There were a couple orders of their version of Eggs Benedict (croissant instead of English muffin, and Bearnaise instead of Hollandaise), and they looked fantastic as well.

You’ll be getting up early to eat here, but it’s absolutely worth it.
