Wow… live near here all this time
And never bothered to come to this park. Little did I know, this is such a hidden gem. Lots of greenery and space for you to picnic and walk around. It leads you from here all the way to rouge river and keeps going!

The only downside is that one the weekend you need to pay to get in. Otherwise it’s such a beauty!

It's a great place to relax and getaway from the bustle of the city. Trails for walking/jogging/hiking/biking. Picnic benches and shady spots under the trees. It's a little oasis for the community and wildlife.
There could be some better cleanup, however, as some of the trails have garbage (containers, takeout bags, plastic, etc.) left from irresponsible visitors. The shoreline could be cleaned up better too too allow people to sit closer to the water.b/c currently it is full of geese droppings and the smell takes away from the enjoyment of the landscape. It would be nice if there were docking areas for canoes and kayaks too.

Great park! The trails on the south side are very quiet with very few people. I would recommend those trails for biking and for people who want to walk through a quiet forest. Not too much wildlife since is located near the highway, which can be heard in some parts of the park. Overall a great experience! Would love to visit again!

Went for a hike on the newly opened Rouge Valley trail, which connects Markham Main St. To Milne Damn. Love the bridges and the park with a light snow covering.

Havnt been there for years. Totally blown away with the new bridges and paths seen on a cycle today. Finally our tax dollars well spent. Will be back more often.

Had a cross country meet here. Didn't make me want to kill myself so that's a plus. Overall, not a bad place unless it's muddy.

Great park in Markham to check out some nature, the new suspension bridges on the east side are great additions.

On weekends there is an admission fee if you enter by car from the west on McCowan Road, however there are many areas where you can enter the park for free on foot if you park on local streets.

Great little nature retreat in Markham. Lots of walking paths, and a great place to see birds and colours.

Good god, where do I begin? Nestled in the heart of Markham, just minutes away from Toronto, this conservation area is one of the most beautiful spaces I've seen in my limited time in this city. It's huge, with tons of small trails, ample seating and picnic areas, incredible untouched nature, lots of parking, and more.

There's public washrooms scattered around. The entire area is incredibly well maintained. Lots of informative plaques everywhere as well as various habitats. Entrance is $4 for adults and includes free parking as well as all-day access.

If you haven't been here, GO. It's worth every second.

A beautiful park -lots of space for kids and pets. The city has done an excellent job maintaining the space, keeping it clean at all times. Very happy this park is close to home!

Amazing. This is just before winter sets in. Such a serene environment. Its wonderful to sit and read, look at the sky and take in the vibrant autumn leaved trees.

It's okay. Decent place for a picnic. I'm not sure why anyone would pay admission to come here. I think it should be free like most parks. I've been here 30 years and I wouldn't pay it. I guess if you like the rouge river and want lots of room for a picnic, this is as good a place as any.

Great place for a picnic or to throw a disc. Nice they added walkway and bridge so you can get pretty much to Markham road walking through the park. Lots of unused space they should use for a disc golf course.

A great park to hang out with your friends on the weekend. Bring a small charcoal BBQ and come early to get a table under the trees for shade.

Huge open spaces along with huge water pond, enough trees. It's an awesome place for hangout both family and friends. Varieties of birds are there mostly Canadian Goose!

Love going on walks on this trail, sometimes go on a run as well. The trail goes slightly uphill from the dam to the park so it's fun! The park is fairly large so it's a chill spot but I think the trail is the real gem with cool bridges and wooden boarded pathways. If you want to stay past 9 don't park your car in the park ().

Its summer. Enjoy before sleepy 8 months. Excellent place. Actually north and east of GTA is slice of heaven (oooh man how the heaven would be)
Must must barbq, always reach before sunrise and be stunned every time. Afterall doing the nature's way has blessings.

Pros: Open park trail, Dam, River view, bridge for pictures, well managed park, barbeque, restroom, good for biking, and walking.

Cons: Free entry on weekdays only. Use anti bug spray in summer. No liquor allowed just barbeque, beach needs cleaning, water was still and smelling bed at beach.

Pleasant, peaceful (especially during weekdays office hours) with picnic tables and benches scattered around. Toilet facilities.

Update: Visited again in August 2019 at 10am. (Sunny day and 25°C).
There were no mosquitos!
Park was clean and well maintained.
Washroom was very clean (near the parking lot).
(Thank you - for the park maintaining employees).

Lived here for 19 years and have only just found this spot. Unlike Toogood Pond this is a LIGHT HIKE, running shoes required️We use Togood Pond for exercise because it’s flat and measures 1.25 k per lap. The Milne hike is slower due too terrain. We use it to work off a big meal or in my case the Village Grocer Carrot cake
McCowan to Markham, a dam, two unique bridges, trail/limestone paths, trees, birds, fishing and picnic area. * I would like to suggest that the route be CLEARLY MARKED/POSTED with distance travelled. They are presently extending the path under the bridge at Markham

Make sure your car is out of the parking lot before they lock the gate or.

This lovely conservation park is a blessing for us that can go out our front door and go for a walk on the groomed pathways, when we feel like communing with nature. People from all walks of life picnic here, celebrations for different ethnicities, and lucky locals enjoy this natural piece of nature park. Walking here is pure pleasure.

I am a park user and The staff take pride in the park.and keep it as clean as possible. This park is different from other parks IN Markham. It is a Conservation Park owned by TRCA operated by the town. It closes at night to prevent vandalism. The speed bumps put out in the spring and summer are there because many people are on foot and can easily get hit by vehicles who drive to fast. Speed bumps should slow you down.not meant to crawl over and then speed to the next one. Enjoy the serenity of this peaceful CONSERVATION PARK.
