Milton Public Library - Main Library

Tried to come study here but it was filled with kids yelling and playing games in the study area. Library was not quiet at all

Nightclub for gen z, no respect for other people very loud and individualistic actions.if you ask the librarian to tell them to stop yelling and talk at a normal volume, they tell you to move yourself but there is only 4 seats in the silent area and even if you sit there WITH AIRPODS ON, you can hear teens screaming. Plz enforce volume control rules and prioritize the experience of everyone not just the high school kids next to the library. There’s people who need the space to work and not hang out, kids can do that at the complex literally 2 steps from the library OR AT SCHOOL.

You can easily get lost in this amazing world of books and not even realize where an hour went. Hands-down the best library ever!

I love this library so much! It is very big (2 floors) and they have many books. I got the book Girl, interrupted recently!

I liked peaceful atmosphere. Good facilities for children. Books, games, laptops available. Silent zone is plus point. Automatic system saves time for taking books etc.clean washrooms. Good staff.

The staff in this library are extremely nice, polite and helpful. And the library is clean and has a lot of facilities. However, this library is always extremely loud because of the high school kids that come and stay for hours. They play music out loud, eat and chat like its a public cafeteria. I have not once seen a staff member tell them to keep their voice down or to leave the study area. I can no longer get any work done at this facility. Sad

Modern Purpose built facility on Main Street in Milton. Facility houses the art Center with an interesting array of Theater, musicals & comedy shows.
Great place to study or work with lots of reference material & excellent atmosphere. The staff is awesome and always so helpful

I have been here twice but both times were great. They have a cute little corner for kids. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Its by a high school and a decent amount of students use it but they have been very respectful.

I've been going to this library for over a decade, and while many of the staff are extremely kind and caring, there are also certain staff members that are incredibly rude - to the point of potentially ruining your day.

The tipping point for me was when I had to quarantine due to being extremely ill and couldn't return my book until I tested negative for COVID and had recovered. The staff member I spoke to refused to waive the late fee, stating I should've called in before the book was due. There's absolutely no reason I should've been concerned about returning a book when I'm too ill to even leave my bed and thought I had COVID.

Not only is there an ongoing pandemic, but countless libraries across the world (including those in Toronto) are removing their late-fee policies in general. I'm shocked at the complete lack of empathy/understanding from MPL.

I absolutely do not mind paying late fees (I've easily paid hundreds of dollars in late fees over the years) and I completely understand that the staff are only human, but I feel treating your patrons in this manner is not ok - especially when their circumstance is related to the pandemic.

While I understand this is a government-funded service available to the public for free, and do not expect above-average customer/patron service, there is a bare minimum in terms of manners and kindness that can and should be met.

Again - this library (including Beaty and Sherwood) has some of the most kind and warm staff members I've ever met, but I've had experiences with certain people that were so negative that they've soured any goodwill the library had established. This is extremely odd since I rarely interact with the staff and have never faced any issues at other libraries - MPL is very much an outlier in this regard.

Terrible customer service.walked-in with drink in hand and was immediately yelled at by 2 people at the front desk. There was a sign that said no food or drink that i did not see and was insulted for not reading it. I hope they treat their visitors better. After putting my drink away I felt like I was being watched by a certain staff member; felt very racially motivated.very disappointed.

Came to the library with some friends and one of them was putting on lip balm quickly (so they had their mask off for not long). Justifiably, she was told to keep her mask back on; but at the same time the staff member said that she “couldn’t give anymore warnings” which insinuated that my friend was told more than once during our stay.which was definitely not the case.only time my friend was told that was a few weeks ago.so, i am confused as to why the staff member was telling her to leave, and then just walked away.we didn’t leave because we saw no reason as to why she was saying she has had more than one chance, but my friend was still very distraught.i understand the reasoning for these safety precautions, but the delivery on them needs to be worked on.

Lots of tables with access to electrical outlets to do remote work. Awesome work environment! Fast internet speed as well. Only downside is with the pandemic, masks on at all times + no drinking water or any beverage rule is strictly enforced.

Watch your HARD EARNED TAX DOLLARS LITTERALLY GO OUT THE DOOR. Milton Library in the process of air conditioning ALL OF MILTON! They DONT WANT to BOTHER with doors closing and opening because of the COVID injection site, located here what's their response? Leave them open for several consecutive hours! What a WASTE

If I could, I’d give 6/5 stars. Absolutely kind staff, and guards! The pop-up clinic workers are so so so so sweet and caring. They cared for my sister snd myself for the vaccine shot and showed utmost respect and work. Had such joyous smiles and laughter. Showed and asked if all was alright, and answered some questions that were on my mind. Really made my sister and I feel safe and cared for! Hands down, amazing service from the pop-up clinic workers and staff! ️️️

Rude staff member. Didn’t realize I had parked in the wrong spot and she could have just asked nicely for me to move but instead she asked with a ton of anger. Very immature and unprofessional. Kindness goes a long way. She should have more training in professionalism.

Amazing place, a great collection of books to choose from while also having other things at the same time such as computers, just such a lively and quiet working space.

Just went for covid-19 vaccine administration, it was the best experience. So smooth. I legit never even had to touch any surface except the chair I sat on.

Way to go to all the volunteers/nurse practitioners/security guards/every person involved in these pop up clinics. Thank you so much for your time and effort.

Watch out for the late fees. You will end up paying more than buying a book on discount at Indigo.

I don't know why I can never get the free public wifi to work on my phone? Maybe I need a new phone?

Very organized, kids love to read here.
There are couple of rooms for meeting but need to reserve it first. Many computers for kids. Stuff are very friendly.
There is elevator to go to the second floor and battery box to recycle it.

Library is open for curbside pick up only, and book drop off. When open, there was stringent social distancing in effect and screening questions before entering the library. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Library is always clean and a nice place to relax and read or study.

Mpl has good COVID policies in place. They’ll scan you in & go over safety policies with you. The process for printing is a little inconvenient, but the books are easy to get through. I got the page I needed to print out & I got some graphic novels.

Great place to study! Especially during the pandemic they have great protocols in place to prevent spreading!

The staff here goes all the way with COVID precautions. They've visit logging for possible contact tracing, quarantine shelves, book wipe-downs and what not. Range of books is pretty standard for a usual library, but impressive for a town.

In a post Covid world, the library staff continues to do an Excellent job of providing services to the community - with book pick-ups with an easy process online and via SMS. Always a super friendly and helpful team!

It’s a good library, nice selection of books and helpful staff but go after 12 if you want to study in a quiet environment. Usually there are school students here in their lunch eating on tables so people who actually need to be studying are sitting on uncomfortable couches with their books and laptops while the kids enjoy their lunch on table or are just sitting and talking. The kids are loud and having a whole fast food meal in a place where it should be quiet and respectful.
People come to the library to get away from the disturbance at home. There needs to be improvement!

Pretty big library but it gets bust fast. Seats to study gets scarce. Make sure you're early so you have a spot. I wish the library closed later than 9: 00 PM as it is a nice place.

I really like it, tons of activities for each age group. But sometimes, I can't find the books I want because so many peopel use it. Also I want them to get more Creepover books and more copies of Twilight books.

Amazing place and the most friendly staff there. There are 2 levels. The bottom one has books for children, kids computers and the main front desk. The top one has everything EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY IMAGINE. It also includes computers and if you forget headphones, they have high quality ones for you to use.

Kind staff cool books and big stack of books in fact they have silver birch books but the bad thing is there one week books aren’t actually one week.

Its a good libraly. When their trying to get rid of old books and Dvds they sell them for supsr cheap prices and they have every book i want. Just dont like the crying babys down stairs

This Library is amazing, just take a look at what it offers, The Ladies and Gents who work here are professional while still being eXtremely friendly and helpful.people who use this library are very fortunate to have this facility.

Very nice library, lot of programs keep running throughout the week for kids. Lot of creativity activities for small kids and awesome humble staff. I send hours on weekend with kids in Milton library

The staff are very helpful and friendly at the library! The library also has many great programs for everyone!

Washroom disgusting filled with Lysol smell
Just moved here from US can't believe the amount of toxic cleaners they use in a "public community place " and no policy of air fresheners as if the the polpulation here is very mixed and in some cultures they feel because for some reason their bodies naturally smell as a result of th e food they eat, they have a feeling they need to take a shower in their cologne and perfume that is well known toxin, so i guess I am spoiled being from the west, as the polpulation there is more aware of toxins in "Public places such as a library
The sultion if you are like the many in the European or American and you are from the west
Find a place to sit by the door and you be ok
Actually the librarians are very cold especially a lady by the computer she has attitude but I guess this is normal thinking she properly doesn't like her job.
Also the hours on the weekend not enough and at 9 pm during weekdays is very short for a fas bpopulating town like Milton.
