Tons of awesome stuff to buy and the staff were very kind and welcoming. They appear to have stopped requiring masks, but this is understandable given the strong opinions almost everyone has. They were still respectful of us wearing masks and didn't treat us poorly because of it. Thanks for trying to create a safer place in this crazy world.

My family and I have visited here often on our visits. We have never had a bad experience and we found the staff very nice. I am appalled over the bad reviews on Google over issues re masks. These people need to get a life if this is a big issue and maybe stop trying to ruin a great small business. You don’t need to go there if you don’t want to wear a mask…just as easily it is for a business to serve customers. Shame on the smear compaigners!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. My item was out of stock but they offered to hold one for me and called me promptly when it arrived.

I'm appalled by the recent one star reviews. This place is amazing and has so many interesting things. Games, toys, books, arts and crafts, gifts - the selection is amazing.

Re the mask "issue". I encourage you to check your privilege if you see this as a problem. The reason I shop there is BECAUSE they require masks. I can take my daughter shopping there for a "normal" experience, while the rest of the world seems to have forgotten about the vulnerable, and we don't have to worry about bringing home an infectious disease to her very sick grandmother.

If everyone wears a mask, nobody has to stay home and "hide". Isn't that ideal and the kind thing to do? If you still don't understand why mask wearing is still important, consider yourself lucky you don't understand. They even provide a mask for you so it's not even inconvenient.

Anyways, go support this amazing business who truly understands community care.

We were awfully surprised at our experience yesterday at this store. Immediately upon coming through the door, we were loudly advised "We wear masks in here (pointing to his own mask) and there are free ones right there (pointing to a box by the door) ".
I was shocked to encounter this and asked "So if we don’t put on a mask, we can't shop here? "
His answer was "Exactly".
So we turned around and left.
If the store owners read these reviews, they need to know that we have 3 grandchildren 3 years old and under that we buy a lot of for. We just moved into the Kingston area for retirement so the store has lost thousands of dollars of potential sales revenue from us in the coming years. All our friends have grandchildren too but Minotaur will never be on our list of places to visit.
It's April 2023, we have updated science findings, the staff can wear a mask, keep their distance from us, shelter behind their plexiglass partition at the cash.

Such a negative vibe in this store today… greeted with rude workers forcing masks to enter the store. Very unpleasant at check out. I’ve loved this place for years and will never return after my experience. Try smiling sometime, it’s good for you

I'm all for doing what makes you feel safe. But screaming at customers and then proceeding to complain about them loudly in store is extremely rude. I hope you go out of business. Most of this stuff you can get off Amazon.

You're in the downtown core, you are quickly losing business, do you really want to hurt your business more by being rude? I'm never coming back, and I'm making sure my entire family never shops there again and we used to be regulars there. Nice adding more masks to the landfills because you're paranoid.

Dreadful experience the staff attack you to wear a mask! Ever other store in Kingston allows you to shop freely without wearing a mask. CDC does not expect us to wear masks and I can go to my doctors vans my dentist with no masks and these people shout at you to wear one.do not go to this store you are treated so badly.

The staff is rude and they pounce on you as soon as you walk in because they’re still forcing masks (even though all mandates have been dropped). Complete clowns!

My fiancé and I went here last week to look for a gift, and promptly left after the staff told us - rudely and aggressively - to put on masks. We fully support a business in their right to make that decision, but we were put off by the moralizing and judgemental tone and won't be back. It's a strange choice for a small business to treat potential customers this way, I hope for the sake of the owner that this is not the norm.

Was downtown the other day with my family and tried to go inside to look at some board games. These guys are still forcing a mask mandate in this store and will not allow you past the front entrance without wearing one. Literally the only place that’s still on this wave excluding the hospital down the road. Borderline hilarious but also ridiculous at the same time. We left immediately and will never return.

Great selection of games and hobby items. Prices are higher than online shops, but happy to support local to get a game in my hands instantly from a COVID safe business.

Glad to see mask requirements are clearly posted at the entrance, with free adult masks for the taking. This is the right way to support staff who are high risk and to keep patrons safe. The shopping environment feels very COVID safe even during busy and packed hours on the weekend.

Looking forward to visiting and supporting again in the future.

This store has a lot of amazing unique things, unfortunately, they also have rude staff. I don't mind wearing a mask, but I don't like being yelled at as soon as I walk in the door. Both staff members just sat behind the counter ignoring the customers, not welcoming at all. This is a store full of games and toys and the staff do not reflect that type of " fun filled" environment.

Oddly still requiring masks. I fully support their right to make that decision, and I'm sure it's for a good reason, but I'd rather shop unmasked at this point.

Super condescending staff. My 11 year old daughter wanted to know why she should stand in the “green square” because it was basically invisible and the sign wasn’t facing the line. The staff decided to do this condescending talk to her like she was a toddler. We paid and left. Masking and social distancing is great but don’t treat your customers like children.

Face covering required. Felt uncomfortable being around people stressing about catching a legendary virus. A strong body keeps you healthy, not a mask.

Requiring people to wear masks is discriminatory! You make it difficult to shop local. You’ve lost my business.

Used to love this store however they have become too expensive and the items no longer unique.

This used to be a good store. I came back for a visit, and two feet inside the door got rudely told that masks were required.
Their choice of course, but it seems they were most interested in compliance than my money. They’re welcome to what they can get!

Very friendly staff, great store that supports local artists, I am also very happy to know they care for their staffs well being!

Fantastic little hobby and game shop. I always have a hard time not spending money here. Pricing is good, maybe a fraction more than I see in other locations around town. They have a nice variety of mainstream boardgame hits. I also like the grab bins by the cash with miscellaneous boardgame accessories and such. Apart from that you could find a gift for almost anyone here, whether it's novelty, a puzzle, prints, painting supplies, etc. Love this store and visit everything I'm in Kingston.
