I love visiting mixed media, mostly to browse the great selection of art supplies. The owners are very kind, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. They have created such a wonderful atmosphere for their customers. They also have a really cool selection of prints from local artists.
While i havent spent as much time browsing the book shelves theres always one or two folks busy looking around that side of the shop

My favourite store in Hamilton. Dave, the owner, is an amazing member of his community, and always a pleasure to chat with about art, Hamilton, and whatever happens to be going on. Oh, and of course he also has a well curated selection of art supplies, cards, books, and other ephemera.

The owner is extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer questions for what you need. Quality of the supplies are beautiful especially the brushes. The online store doesn't show everything so if they are closed then I would suggest calling to discuss what you are looking for.

I called ahead and he was very knowledgable and set aside what I was looking for when I came to pick it up. I haven't been disappointed and I highly recommend going here before Michael's. The workers know the stuff and its local. Enough Said.

True story - when we first moved to Hamilton 9 years ago, I remember driving down James St N past Mixed Media and having a conscious thought that I couldn't wait to check this shop out. 9 years later, a new Westdale location and I am a happy customer, and shop visits with Dave rank among my top retail pleasures in this city.

Always the most friendly and knowledgeable service. I purchase mostly cards and Hamilton centric gifts - and I love that the store has so many options from local Hamilton artists, too. It feels like a part of our city's history and culture - you aren't a real Hamiltonian until you've shopped here.

Completely love this store! Dave is so knowledgeable and friendly, and the shop is just a delightful place to browse and buy. So many unique, well-curated items. A favourite spot for journals, greeting cards, and all manner of art supplies.

What can I say? A bit of pretty much everything curated by the owner, Dave, with a fine eye for quirky and solid design.

Friendly staff, always have what you need. It's great, they have books on one side, art supplies in the other.

I asked the owner if he would be willing to place a special order for me, and he told me he would. We then went back and forth several months. He never placed the order, but repeatedly told me that he still wanted to sell me this product and would order it. Eventually he e-mails me an ETA on the product but gets annoyed when I arrive to pick it up because... There is no firm ETA on the product and my expectations are unreasonable. Nearly two weeks later he e-mails to tell me the product has arrived. I get there and he has a similar product, but not the one I ordered. (And which we had discussed on multiple occasions). This is after I was a repeat customer for years and spent thousands at this store. Store has some quality items but look elsewhere if you want someplace to buy regularly. Your loyalty will not be valued here.

Stumbled upon this very unique bookshop/art store. It was like walking into a bookstore in Berlin - love it! Very unique supplies and friendly staff.

The new location with the added bookstore is a real treat to visit. Such a lovely assortment of books, art supplies and stationery. One of our favourite shops in Hamilton - we never leave empty handed.

Really cute little shop attached to a book store. Lots of artist supplies. Some unique to Hamilton gifts and cards. Notebooks and sketchbooks and day planners galore! My dream! Will definitely return.

Super duper friendly. Growing selection, pleased with the amount of woodcut tools and similar artsy instruments. Overall great atmosphere in a convient location. I'm wondering why they aren't open on mondays. Overal great place if your into creating/scrapbooking/stationary etc.

The Staff seemed friendly and was able to answer all my questions and give helpful tips. Quality service you can't find at a place like Micheals.
