Modern City Taxi

The reason I choose this upcharged, outdated company over Uber is because I can't stand the sterile, disconnected nature of Ubers. It's always felt off-putting. Listening to one of your drivers carry on a personal conversation from the second I get into the car, without even the absolute basic courtesy of a hello, is the straw that broke the camel! I'll finally be making the switch to Uber after this ride.

Took cab 140 Christie yesterday morning. She was knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant to ride with. Based on this experience I will use this company the next time I require a cab.
I used modern city taxi Sept, 27 2021.cab 157 driver john, very clean vehicle, pleasant driver who took an efficient route. Thank you once again for the excellent ride.

I booked a taxi for 5: 15am the evening prior so that I could catch a bus out of town. The day of the booking, I called the dispatcher at 5: 16am, then again at 5: 25am because the cab had not arrived.

Both times the dispatcher was short and unhelpful, as though I was bothering her. Both times she said "the cab will be there shortly" but was unable to say where the can was or how far away it was, nor did he offer to radio the can no an update.

When the cab arrived it reeked like cigarettes. I told the driver I didn't feel like having a conversation because he was 15 minutes late and i just wanted to catch my bus, to which he replied gruffly that "he didn't need to be chewed out buddy".

Modern Taxi is far from modern and a long way from professional.

If you want to get to your destination safely. Don't take modern taxi especially number 2. Does not stop at red lights even with paying passengers in the vehicle

I asked if there was a car available on the west end of Kingston, but a car wasn't assigned to the call for another 30 minutes.

Not expecting the car to even show up now. At 50 minutes to the wait I called another cab company, they arrived ten minutes later just as Modern showed up, an hour after the call was placed.

They also failed to pay their phone bill recently.

Terrible service, they laugh and hang up on people with service dogs. Use uber instead, cheaper and no hassle.

Called and waited on the phone for about 10 min with nothing so I called back after 10 mins, I was still on the phone for about 10 min before hearing anything and when I finally get ahold of someone I waited 30 mins for a taxi witch never showed. Do not use this company

This company is. Terrible. Called and asked if we could get a cab with a car seat for my 2 yo. The woman who answered said. They aren't required to have hire cabs who carry car seats. I said I didn't think they were required but that common sense and decency would probably mean that they should have a few around the city. I then asked what she suggested, if we should call another company and She said she didn't care. I hung up at that point.

People have kids. People need cabs. What is wrong with this company?

Lady on the other end of the line lost it when I tried to order a taxi for 30 minutes later. Told me it doesn’t matter if I called 2 days ahead they would not send a taxi for whatever time and it would get here when it gets here.

I normally have taken Modern Taxi and up until recently it was my usual taxi service. I called for a pickup one day about 2 weeks ago now, and the driver, who graciously provided his name, Rusty, was beyond disrespectful, rude, ignorant and very unprofessional. Swore and proceeded to flip me off. Coped an attitude when I said I was paying debit. Overall, the WORST experience I've ever had. Definitely not taking modern taxi anyone, and especially if RUSTY is working.

I booked a taxi an hour ago then I want to cancel it and the lady said oh my god (which I could say was rude and in bad tone)
Then I asked to book a taxi again for different timing
The lady on the phone was so rude I could hear her she’s saying oh my god again n again
And she was putting me on wait again n again
Even whenever she picked my call she listened to my voice and says you need to hold on. At least 3 times it happened

Embarrassing company yelling at people that were in a car crash to move their vehicles. A baby, another small child and a mother and father were all in that car and hurt. You're all pretty scummy. Do better.

I took a taxi from my doctors office home yesterday with driver Bob. He was the nicest, kindest, man. Very personable and and we had a lovely conversation. Highly recommend this company, Hope I get Bob next time I call.:)

Waited nearly 40 minutes for a cab with no communication on how much longer it would be and eventually canceled. Understand that wait times can be longer than usual but 40 minutes with no prior warning is unacceptable and a major waste of your customer’s time. Want to support local taxi company’s instead of Uber but with service like this, it is hard to do so.

Not reliable at all. Have booked the cab in 2 days advance still the driver didn't show up at pick up point nor I got contacted by anyone. I contacted another taxi guy who helped me reaching to Kingston.
Please note Uber is not operating in Gananoque, so plan your trip well and avoid this taxi. You can go with Amey as I saw many taxis in Kingston.

I was walking on Uni ave near Princess, and one of your drivers, slowed down his cab and started swearing at me for no reason. This happened around 16: 45, Sep 16th.

I called for a taxi a 640am to pick me up in the country and take me to my job 25min drive into kingston. Had to call them three times to find out where driver was. Called at 715am and they stated they were 5mins out. Then called again at 730 to say need this taxi. They told me three minutes out. At 737 am still no taxi found a different way to work how ever I was late for work. If they don't have drivers they should tell the customer instead of lying.

Our driver, sorry I don't remember his name, was the best. We were lost and needed to catch a Megabus for the first time in a town we didn't know. The best!

I called yesterday with a challenging and unusual situation and the dispatcher (I think her name was Kelly) was patient, kind, and incredibly helpful. Thank you for the great service Kelly and appreciation to the driver who was also understanding of the client who was experiencing some mental distress. You both were wonderful.

My Vehicle had just been repaired and was ready for Pick-up off McDoo Lane outskirts of Kingston, Ontario. Wallet was in Safe at Work so unaccessible. I only had $16.85 Cash/ Fare was est. $22. Dispatch called Driver who picked me up and took me anyway. Next day I drove by and made sure he got a $20 Tip. Thank ypu for being a real Humanitarian.

Better walking/busing wherever ur going. They are not gunna dispatch a taxi unless you call multiple times to ensure they dispatched one.

Hope you're willing to wait 40+ minutes for your taxi. I know I do when O call Modern City Taxi.

Always punctual, and quick to respond! The drivers are always courteous, and helpful! Cannot say enough great things about this company! They are hard working people taking a lot of risk, during the pandemic, to make sure people get to where they need to go! ThNk you MODERN TAXI STAFF! Also, the dispatchers are always patient, and sweet! ;)

This company is patient, understanding and accommodating! I left belongings in a trunk of a taxi and they were very helpful getting it back. Modern is my #1 choice!

Driver wasn't wearing a mask. You'd think that someone who spends their days being in an enclosed space would be more cognisance of others.

Darcy is great! Just moved to kingston took two cabs today and got Darcy both times. He had the kids laughing. Great driver and knows the city!

I told them I needed to be picked up at a certain time for work.
Turns out they are 20 min late and got late for work. Never taking it again

Modern has been around almost as long as Kingston. Safe, dependable, trusted by many regular riders.

Sometimes you gotta call both companies to get quick service but i understand thats just demand, drivers are always nice, good for a nice talk

I always call modern taxi when I call a cab. The drivers are always nice and professional. My experiences are always pleasant. The female driver I had a few nights ago num 6 was a little sweetheart as well as the series cab driver Iv ever seen in my life.

Mums always went with Modern, so I usually do too. Never had any severe issues over the years besides a few that drove like their foot was taped to the pedal and a couple really late ones. Other than that, its not a bad taxi service.

Most of the drivers either dont talk, or wanna have full conversations. Both are fine by me:)

I rely on modern in the morning to get myself to work. Normally I have a very good experience and never anything bad to say about them. Today however, has changed that.

When I called, I accidentally hit the mute button and didn't realise it until it was too late. The lady who answered was frustrated, which I understand. However when I tried calling back, the phone would ring several times and then suddenly end. I ended up being late for work because of this.

I use this service more than uber. Get their app. They come quicker than uber and they are cheaper. Always count on these guys.

Usually have very good drivers, polite and courteous.
Called today for a taxi and when he arrived I tried to flag him down as there were other people around.when he saw me waving my arms at him to get his attention, he gave me a few gestures, and you could plainly see he was upset.
When he pulled up, I waved him on as I did not want to get a ride from someone who was obviously unhappy, he gave me the middle finger and peeled out and almost got blindsided by another vehicle, I use this taxi service about 4-5 times a week. I think I'll try Ameys now.

Just had a Modern taxi speed up behind me blaring their horn after nearly side swiping a car turning left in front of them. Not professional and not safe on the road.

Driver was friendly, but took 40 mins to arrive and wasnt given a proper address by dispatch so I had to tell him the address - he then asked me to guide him there instead of using the GPS.

I stoped for my friend in princess the modern taxi driver with plate number cepr. 507 came behind me hit my car and leave im really sorry for modern taxi they have crazy driver

Remember I got hit by these guys once but I guess customer service goes a long way with them because he helping customers in before he backed his car off of me

The director just hangs up on you or doesn't send your cab, you can take your pick, waited half an hour for no cab called back, only to find out they never dispatched the cab, clearly a company that doesn't care, this happened just before I wrote the review

Dumpster fire. Dont answer the phone. And when they do they dont send what you asked for. Piss poor service.

Save yourself a world of hurt and call Amey's Taxi instead.

I pre-ordered a taxi 2 hours ahead of my departure, but when the hour came, 15 minutes passed without Modern showing up. I called the dispatch and they apologized, saying there were no taxis and it would be another 30 minutes. It is only by the grace of my coworker that I got to my train on time.

Modern Taxi takes advantage of its consumers. Their taxis are consistently filthy, and the “no smoking” stickers which adorn each taxi’s window are a glaring difference from the stench of stale cigarette smoke inside the car. The driver verbally assaulted me yesterday when I asked for a receipt after the payment machine malfunctioned. He continued to yell at me as I walked away from the cab hurling sexist insults when I didn’t attend to him.

Ordered a taxi 3 hours in advance for 3am when my bus was supposed to get in and they took my name and number to confirm. Right as the bus gets in some other girl hops in and they take off. Clearly they didn’t confirm the name of who ordered the taxi and I was alone at the bus terminal at 3am. Use Amey’s.

Cab 85 brought back my phone when I lost it in another cab. The operator, Lily, called us as soon as she noticed there was a problem. Recommend this Cab company over uber and Amey's.they are genuine and trustful people. Thanks again Lily and Cab 85 from Modern I cannot thank you enough!
