Had to get emergency treatment for our pet. Everyone was kind and helpful. The vet answered all our questions very completely and helped reduce our anxiety.

I had to put my 18-year-old cat down, and they were the only place that would take me on short notice. They were wonderful from start to finish, and he passed away peacefully.

The clinic works well - receptionists/admins, technicians, vets are all in touch with you and try to find the right diagnosis and treatment. Our dog was taken there in an emergency situation and discharged 3 days later. They are thorough and try to help as much as they can.

We are seniors who have been faithful clients of this clinic for over 8 years.

The way they run their business clearly demonstrates how they value MONEY over the WELL BEING of your beloved family member.
I have waited for Jaspers prescribed (by their vet) special low fat dog food for 2 months. I usually buy the kibble but because it was on back order I purchased the far more expensive canned food to tie him over. They (Katrina’s task) promised they would call as soon as it had arrived.
Well. NO CALL for a month so I called and they said they had one bag left. I said I would be in first thing in the morning to pick it up. I was told I had to prepay for it which I have never encountered with them before. I wanted to pay cash and stated again I would be in first thing in the morning.
I get a call back 10 minutes later stating they sold the last bag so they didn’t want me to waste the trip over.
I think you would agree that it is time for a change.
On a good note their vet STEPHANIE is very good and we appreciate all the care she provided. Too bad the owner is not the same.

The staff and doctor are all so compassionate and knowledgable. Took our cat to be seen in an emergency and she was looked after right away.

The whole time we just knew by their professionalism and experience she was in good hands. Dr. Mogavero was just amazing to see in action, and kept us informed throughout.

For anyone with a pet who needs help, this should be the place you go.

My family for 3 generations now has been bringing our beloved furry family too Mohawk Animal Clinic for 40+ years, when it was under the ownership of Dr. Wayne Gerrie. I loved it then, and I love it now under the care of Dr. Michael Mogavero, DVM. Dr. Michael’s staff is truly wonderful and is always eager to assist in any way they can. Always sincerely interested in our animal's health and well-being, and always try to fit us in when urgent needs arise. Please accept our sincere thanks for first caring for our small zoo as a collective over the years. Dr. Michael Mogavero wears his heart on his sleeve, and he is in an industry where he sees sick animals mostly day in and day out. He has taken a veterinary oath, and people who say he has no compassion and is financially driven are very wrong. Dr. Michael Mogavero has to give advice based on scientific knowledge and skills we do not possess in the best interest of your pet, not you! This may be hard for some people; unfortunately, you can’t have love without pain and suffering, and Dr. Michael Mogavero, you are amazing at what you do. Never stop being who you are—the voice of those who cannot speak for themselves. Some thing many people may not know unless you've taken the time to get to know Dr. Michael is that he has given years and thousands of hours of pro bono services working with our very own community, Hamilton SPCA. This is a true vet who lives up to the very oath he took many years ago, and I am proud to say he is my family's vet! I now personally live five hours away, and once a year I will pack up my three large breed dogs and travel down to Hamilton to return to Mohawk Animal Clinic because I have yet to find another vet that cares as much for my pets health as I do. I highly recommend Dr. Michael and his amazing staff at Mohawk Animal Clinic.

I switched my two pets, a cat and a dog, over to Mohawk Animal Clinic in the last year and I couldn’t be happier. Great timely care, friendly staff and good doctors. My fur babies are in good hands at Mohawk Animal Clinic!

If you TRULY care about your fur babies, take them ANYWHERE but this vet. Please.

Absolutely disgusting treatment of both animals and humans. NO compassion for any living being and the responses to SEVERAL of your reviews speaks for itself. To sit there and say somebody is lying after they’ve just lost their fur baby mainly due to your complete lack of compassion and empathy in addition to your negligence truly makes me sick.

How can you be a vet and someone who people look to to help them and their babies in heartbreaking and desperate times, yet literally SIT THERE watching a 3 year old puppy convulse nonstop ultimately leading to their death and REFUSE to even LOOK at them until you have $700 in your pocket JUST to take a look?

NO compassion, NO regard for these animals and simply just NO heart. I’d highly suggest looking into a more suitable profession, perhaps on your next very important lunch break, before the OVC inevitably revokes your license.

Dr. M and the team at Mohawk Animal Clinic are very professional and show lots of care for my pets every time we visit them. I really respect how realistic they are as they do not sugar coat things. They tell me exactly what I should be doing to maintain perfect pet health and it works every time. Thank you Dr. M and team!

Absolute disgusting excuse for an “emergency vet”. How this place is still in business is beyond me. I was turned away when my cat was having an allergic reaction to a vaccine after hours “because I was not a current customer” yet my cat was having difficulties breathing and it was the closest “emergency vet” to me. Absolutely gross. There page states “emergencies welcome anytime”, which is untrue and for a company that is supposed to care about animals, there was zero empathy that I was crying, worried about my animals wellbeing. I ended up going to the emergency vet downtown, and they welcomed me with open arms and were horrified to hear of this experience.

I’ve heard multiple horror stories about other people’s experiences here and reading the recent reviews, it’s apparent that this place needs to be restructured. My advice, stay as far away as you can.

Edit to respond: 1 we were not given the option to pay anything other than the outrageous quote provided for bloodwork (seeing as you are an urgent/emergency clinic I did expect a larger amount) which did not include ANY treatment to stabilize him which should have initially been provided to avoid further damage to his brain. Not to mention I was asked if I wanted to “hold my dog to avoid being charged for your time” while I worked on finance options. 2 when you were told I was unable to pay that amount up front but would work on financing as I knew it was going to be an expensive visit, finance options were not even provided until I did some research and made phone calls, then I was finally provided with a phone number by your staff 3 he had multiple active seizures while he was there - doesn’t take a dr to recognize an obvious seizure 4 your website states emergencies welcome any time, maybe should retract that statement on your website and advertise “by appointment only” - therefore wanting to leave for lunch break totally makes sense.

No idea how this place is operating. Brought my dog in because he was having non stop seizures and they wouldn’t even stabilize him until we paid an estimate fee for blood testing and some other tests they wanted to do while he was clearly suffering, just let him sit there seizing non stop for over 45 mins while we attempted to get funding. Ended up bringing him to another vet that was disgusted in their behaviour and attempted stabilizing him immediately and due to the length of time he was seizing WITHOUT care, the damage was irreversible and our dog is now gone. Don’t bring your dog here if it’s an emergency, absolutely no care or compassion for life.

At the end of the day I found a vet that rushed my boy in and immediately administered medication before I even provided my NAME due to the grave condition he was in - unfortunately too late thanks to wasting time at Mohawk Animal Clinic, and I stand by my statement above.

Amazing staff very helpful and knowledgeable, they did my dogs surgery and were very helpful with any questions, the doctors are awesome very honest and nice.

Thanks to everyone at Mohawk Animal clinic. I have taken my pets to this clinic for a number of years and have always felt satisfied with their care. Both Dr M and Dr K have gone above and beyond for my family. Longer hours have come in handy as Dr M was available at a time that we would have ended up at an after hours clinic with many other vets. Even though the outcome wasn't what we hoped for, Dr M and the staff helped us greatly and showed compassion for us and our pup. Highly recommend if you want great caring service and a down to earth approach to vet care.

A big thank you to Dr. Kearns for always taking such good care of our Australian shepherd, Riley! The professional and knowledgeable team of experts at Mohawk Animal Clinic take the stress out of any visit. We highly recommend them!

Great Vet. Great staff. Always able to get us in when needed. Some may complain about bed side manner, but we've found the opposite, he's honest, realistic and really does care. Listen to what he says and your furry best friends will be quickly on the mend. Will absolutely be back. Thank you Mohawk animal clinic!

Very accommodating. I called 2 other vets and they turned me away with my cat that was in pain from falling as they had no openings. Also very polite and cheerful every time I have come. I will be returning with all my animals

Poor bedside manner, inattentive, accusatory, and gaslighting while attempting publicly shaming.
How dare you treat people this way when they come in for help for their pet. Isn't that the whole point of your business?
Awful. Absolutely awful.

Our cat had an injured claw and we were worried something would happen or it would get infected if we didn’t get it looked at ASAP. Our usual vet is closed on weekends and we called around to a bunch of places and this clinic was the only one that could take us in on the same day. The service was great and our worries were addressed with ease. The vet recommended we let the claw heal on its own, and I’m glad unnecessary treatment wasn’t pushed on us. It was a bit pricey for an exam ($179 when an exam at our normal vet is $79) but since it was a same day visit considered “urgent” I understand why it was so expensive.

I have had to bring my animals here on a few occasions. Every time I was met with compassionate, knowledgeable staff. I believe the weekend staff is always the same and they are great.
The older male veterinarian is thorough and knows what he is talking about, not pushing unnecessary testing or treatments if not needed. He also has a great sense of humour, that has put me at ease many times.
The front staff (a young guy and a young woman with purple hair) were very accommodating and quick to get me checked in to see the vet. They were straight forward with pricing expectations when I had to be seen right away, which I appreciated.
The technician I spoke to (young woman with pink hair) was very knowledgeable on what was going on with my animals each time I came in and went over medications and what I should expect when starting them. Very thorough, and answered all of my worried mom questions.

My experiences here have been amazing and I highly recommend if you’re looking for urgent care for your fur babies!

I would give ZERO STARS if I could. Dr. Mogavero is a raging narcissist that doesn't like it when his paying customers have some questions. He gets borderline irate, interrupts the customer and yells "can I talk now? ! " I believe he automatically assumes he's being challenged and reacts in a very aggressive, non-professional manner. He also is not honest in how much he quotes for surgery as it ends up being much more when it's done. $1400 turned into $2400. He is also an opportunist when it comes to added medications such as prescribing 9 months of flea and tick meds which takes us to March of 2024. Does that make sense? Fortunately I had the sense to refuse that length of time. Maybe the other customers are correct when they feel 'preyed upon'. After reading other reviews that this so-called veterinarian was rough with their dog, I can only hope he was kind to ours. We will NOT be entrusting our dog into the care of this person. I also refuse to support this guy with another penny of my hard earned money. I will find a real professional.
