Mom's Kitchen Korean Cuisine

I came here 2-3 years ago and remembered the Gamjatang was pretty good. I was craving Korean food and in the area so we decided to order here. The Gamjatang was very salty, I just ended up eating the pork bone with rice and didn’t finish the soup. I ordered a beef bone soup for my husband, while the taste was good it had mushrooms in there. Which was not an ingredient I usually see with the beef bone soup.

One of my favorite Korean restaurants! Everything is so good! Place is pretty small and parking can be a nightmare.

They went down hills from its Prime Days.
Mushy rice, Cook's hair in dishes, and the taste has gone bland compared to Minerva and other authentic Korean restaurants along Yonge Street/Downtown Korean town.
They are also being cheap on the appetizers.
Now they only serve boiled water instead of the staple Barley Tea.

Delicious food at reasonable prices with friendly service. And ample parking right outside.

My only complaint is that they kept playing non-Korean music in the background (heard quite a few Cantonese pop songs and other stuff during my meal). More K-Pop, please! It's a Korean restaurant after all.

The meals at this restaurant hit the spot for their price point! Their hot stone bowls, fried chicken, banchan, sundubu jigae and mandu are all great! I've been to both locations and they both provide good/reliable service. However I'm unsure if the workers or owners are Korean at the Markham location. Although the dishes are written in Korean on the menu, the servers couldn't understand any Korean when spoken to. Overall this casual, no frills restaurant is worth coming back to for a filling meal in comparison to the other Korean restaurants I have been to in the area.

So I ordered a beef bone soup for take out. This is the best soup I’ve ever had since there is NO SOUP at all. The 3 holes on the cover is a very creative design which turned this soup to a dry dish. The best part is there is not a single drop of soup left in the bowl. Imagine beef bone soup with no soup! HA! The last time i ordered takeout from here, I wanted black bean sauce noodle with a side kimbap. They served me black bean sauce noodle WITHOUT the sauce, but as a generous person, I decided to give this restaurant a second chance. Surprisingly and most luckily, they kept the strike and kept me hungry a second time!

The food was ok, but prices were reasonable and the portions were big - I got the army stew, ja jang mian, and the seafood pancake. The pancake was the best of the 3 - the army stew didn’t have enough ingredients and the black bean noodle was mostly noodle. It tasted less authentic Korean than other k-town restaurants on Yonge (for example they used Chinese fish balls in the army stew vs fish cake normally), but service was decent and pricing was good.

We've been here multiple times in the past couple of years and the food has been great every time. Our most recent visit we had forgotten how large the portion sizes were and one of the staff said that ordering extra steamed rice would probably be too much and she was right. All of the staff are always incredibly nice.

Highly recommend the BBQ beef sizzling plate!

Quality of the food has really gone down. Ordered beef bulgogi the last two time from here and it was 80% cabbage and hardly any beef. Quite bland.

Our second visit as my daughter loved the seafood pancake. But it disappointed us a bit this time, as there were more onions and Chinese green onions with much less seafood. The cold noodles is still of high quality, especially the beef that contained, yummy. Stone pot rice is always our favorite and my son loves the fried pork chop also. Hope you could maintain high quality even though business faces the rising cost. Side dishes are great here, seem too popular that they posted on wall that each table could only have one more renewal. Whatever, I could understand that.

Just visited the restaurant over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure if there’s new management but this is one of the best Korean restaurants in Markham! The quality of the food is fantastic and the service is very fast. The prices are super reasonable and I’ll make sure to come back again. Don’t hesitate to give this place a try.

I ordered the seafood soup, and my wife ordered pork bone soup. After every bite, we kept on saying how tasty it was. It's in the Metro plaza, so plenty of parking available. It's a popular place as the tables were filling up fairly quickly. We will be back!

If you want reasonable priced Korean food with good portion, this is definitely a good place to go. The decor is nothing fancy but their service is good and they offer a great selection to choose from. There must be something you like. It was not crowded when we went there for lunch. The food was hot and freshly made.

We tried their take out during lockdown. The food quality and portion was still as good as dine in.

Recent Visit: Their food & service were always consistent and fresh. The price was affordable. It’s definitely a good choice if you want Korean food in the neighbourhood. They renovated their shop recently. I think it has more Korean vibe to it now. Although they slightly increased their price on their menu but it’s still reasonable compared to most Korean restaurants.

Great place for Korean takeout. A little in the pricier side. Finding parking is also a little tough.

Good service music and environment
However the food was way below average.
The best part of our meal was the free litte appetizers.
Wont be going back.
