Monarch Tavern

I have only been upstairs at the Monarch although I heard they have live music downstairs and it’s worth checking out. Upstairs at the Monarch is awesome, especially Thursday nights - pool table, karaoke and a cheerful crowd will create an impromptu dance floor. The staff are friendly and down to earth. It’s good neighborhood vibes. And the food is excellent with some great vegan options. If you appreciate a relaxed and fun atmosphere you’ll love the Monarch.

Great place to listen to music and to see new musicians! The drinks are very decently priced. Just wished there was more seating but for a concert vibe, I understand why they do that. 10/10 drinks and 10/10 people!

Great entertainment by the Orange Devils band. Second Monday of each month. Music is lively and it's great fun watching the musicians having such a good time playing. And they had a gluten free beer!

I come here regularly for an amazing bourbon selection. It’s not a long list but has some classics and hard to find. I’m scared to leave this review and let others in on my secret spot!

I really love this bar. It's upstairs with a pool table, a dart board, and also pinball. They did renovate, and sadly, the doors in the woman's bathroom were not installed properly. I had to hold the door closed.

Every time I come back from Ireland, I get a little bummed, because pubs here just aren't the same. No craic. Pretentious. 11 dollars for some soapwater IPA served by a person colder than the beer itself. The Monarch is just what the doctor ordered. Cozy, cold beer, locals engaged in chat at the bar, excellent and prompt/friendly service by the bar staff, great selection of beers - and probably the closest I have ever tasted to high quality Irish pub food (though I believe the chef is an Englishman, I will forgive him that: P). Seriously, the chef here makes UNREAL beef pies with mash and gravy and minted peas. He also so happens to make probably the best burger I have tasted in Toronto. PERFECT BURGER.

Discover a bar / pub that can transport you back in time. Tucked away just off of College St. (Little Italy's, main drag). The Monarch is a historic Toronto pub and a fantastic treasure of a live music venue. It hosts all sorts of musical genres. It is welcoming and has a laid back vibe.

If you enjoy vintage swing music this is where Martin Loomer and his Orange Devils hold a monthly concert.

Monarch Tavern best pub in Toronto. The food is AMAZING. 5 Star chef. Absolutely picture perfect. And the taste even better than it looks. Staff there are all amazing. Ya gotta try the food you'll be blown away!

Came here to see a show and was not disappointed. Intimate space for mostly local artists to play, had a blast the whole time. Staff was nice, bartenders were great. Although the venue is kinda small there is a second bar upstairs and a patio too.

Amazing sound and stage - drinks are a bit pricy, but still a fun time in a convenient location.

My whole time living in Toronto I had heard the name ‘Monarch’ synonymously with local music, but I just went for my first time recently and I was not disappointed. The downstairs bar & stage are all you need for smaller gigs, nothing fancy but at the same time not missing anything. The separate upstairs portion offers pool, sports games and a bit of a more relaxed vibe. Either way I can’t say anything bad about Monarch, would definitely grab a drink there any given night.
