Mona's Roti

I ordered a roti with curry goat on the side. I was served the smallest container of curry goat, it was unbelievable. I requested a refund, I have no clue why this place is popular.

I used to order curry chicken amd goat roti but quaility and portions have gone down. Now i only buy the roti skins which is excellent and make the proteins at home. Expect a lineup at lunch and weekends because they still make the best Rotis in Toronto. They are take out only

Great food, great taste and service is fast. Staff is friendly and very clean which is a big highlight for me.

Mona's rotie shop looked very busy and crowded as I walked in, however looks can sometimes deceiving. They had a wide variety of Trini dishes, so I decided to sample their doubles which was pretty reasonable $2.50 for one in comparison to Drupaties in the west end $3.25.well there's a reason it's that price it's half the size and made more like a sandwich rather than a traditional doubles and the filling was very thick and not very tastefully. I also decided to try there curry duck with parata the rotie was good just very small for a meal that cost $15.00 and the duck was tasty just the gravy was water down. I also got curry chicken and dalpourie the chicken was a bit salty and the dalpourie was also small in size, when I ripped into it I was someone what amazing that the filling inside was light yellow as if the dal was not boiled in saffron. It was also not season with the normal stuff like geera, garlic, etc the normal stuff. This experience was very disappointing would not recommend here.

Mona's has never let me down for their taste, quality and friendliness as I walk in the door.
Now, calling in to place an order, not always successful as the phone has only once been answered in the 4 attempts I've made on separate occasions, with multiple calls per each.
My order is always a veggie roti and often will buy pholourie.
My food is always fresh, tasty, and serving size is more than satisfying.
Mona's is my number one selection. Prices can get a bit steep but quality makes it worth while!

Slightly disappointed compared to expectations. The texture of the roti is average, not firm enough, and even a bit crumbly. After a few bites, the fillings inside the roti start falling apart. However, the sauce of the butter chicken is still very good, and the most surprising is their potato selection and texture. Additionally, a friendly tip: their drinks are unique, but they contain a very high amount of sugar! Choose carefully!

FINALLY got off work early enough to fetch some Mona's at 6pm for dinner this past Friday. It's been a year since we've had and I was STOKED to get two doubles with our meal but the lady told us they had run out so I paid and waited for the rest of my food.

Shortly after, a gentleman behind me asked for doubles but instead of being told no, the lady in the kitchen said she could give him three. After that, another man made a hand gesture of what looked like a '6' to the lady in the kitchen and she nodded she could make some for him as well.

After observing this, I asked if there happened to be two extra doubles around but again I was told no. Although I'm a huge fan of the food, I was incredibly disappointed with how unjust this service was at Mona's.

WENT TOSCARB LOCATION. ASSEMBLY LINE SET UP. SO FRUSTRATED ORDERED CURRY GOAT AND DOUBLES. FOOD WAS BLAND AND GOAT WAS TOUGH. SO FAR ITS MY 3RD AND LAST TIME. LOVE DRUPATIS!

Deeelicious food! Everything is freshly made. Lots of variety to choose from whether is roti or rice dishes. Best roti place in Scarborough.

After checking the reviews for several carribean restaurants in the area, i decided to settle with Mona's Roti. Based on the positive reviews for Monas's Roti, i expected a delicious meal. Instead, the food was stale and lackluster. It looked more like prison food and was so tasteless. I doubt the positive reviews. As we all know, friends and families can also write reviews. Maybe, this is the case here. For what Mona's Roti charges customers, delicious foods should be provided, or charge less.

Just tried this place for the first time.

As soon as you enter the place, you get the positive vibes - everything seems so well managed and the employees seem very satisfied (unlike many restaurants).

I ordered the Curry Chicken Roti with Spinach and Pepper Sauce And I got the Mauby drink. The first bite was wholesome. The Roti itself is so soft and tasty and the split pee filling is perfection. The chicken curry was very fresh and tasty. The spinach was also cooked properly.
I tried the Mauby drink for the first time and found the flavours very new.

It was an experience in itself. One should definitely try it out once if living in Toronto.

I order veg roti. It was cold. Not even warm. Super dry. There was no gravy init. I am so disappointed. Please don't go by review. Most of reviews looks like paid review

Some spots need to remain a hole in the wall with amazing food, this is one of those spots.
The food is not waht is used to be. Super disappointed during my last visit, the place looks great tho.

The food is great. The customer service is extremely poor. Never greeted with a smile. In particular, the owner glares at some customers with such disdain. Not a pleasant customer experience for some people at least.

The food is good but the line up and available parking is horrendous. You'd think with this well-known fact coupled with their current renovations, they'd add an extra cash register equaling the total of a whopping. TWO? Nope! Nonsensical, I know!

I ordered paratha over the phone and still had to wait at the front of the ONE REGISTER with my order sitting on the counter staring me in the face! I almost left.

Not only was I upset but also the lady I was blocking in the parking lot. She kissed her teet at me so loud. I apologized and left. Poor lady

Mona's is Mona's. There is no there place in the GTA to get your rotis and doubles. Line ups are a thing there but it's worth the wait.

The pholourie is the best in town. I have been to Mona's for a very long time, but always stick to just the pholourie and doubles. You can always expect a lineup when going on a saturday.

Really disappointed!
Bought Dhal puri with chicken and goat curry, and Chana doubles for the the first (and last) time yesterday. Dahl puri was excellent but the rest was sub standard in quality, taste and quantity. I am surprised that people actually rated their food more than 2stars

Used to rant and rave about this place.but now ifs not even close to how it was. Everything so watered down and there’s like 20 workers yet they’re still super slow! Curry looks like water.if you have a lot of orders then cook a big pot! When I ask for extra gravy I don’t expect water with some oil on top! And how is service soo slow with spo many people working? U guys don’t even sell roti skins to go… yes there’s many customers now but how many stay after trying the food? Please bring back the old curry recipe

Dhalpourie Roti shell getting smaller and costing more. Generally, paying more for less. No valid excuses for price hike gorging, unfair to customers / consumers.

Delicious doubles and curry chicken roti. I especially enjoyed the jerk chicken roti as did my mom and husband. The place was busy and appears they always have a good amount of people who are return customers who enjoy the food here at Mona's.

The food is fresh and clean tasting, the staff is friendly and the portions as amazing! Been coming here for years and so long as they are around I'll definitely be coming for many more years to come!

They are careless when it comes to labelling and/or organizing specialized orders. Its happened more then once where my orders got mixed up or wasn't labelled properly. The food is good, but I prefer my roti's more saucey sometimes it is sometimes it isn't. So it's a hit or miss most often. It's an ok experience, just have to work on being a little more organized.

Was there 2 days ago. No CoVid protocol practiced. Masks yes but people only 2 ft apart, many being directed to go in the out door so bumping into people. Polourie excellent but curry beef roti terrible, the beef tough and grissley. Have to try other dishes as this place comes recommended. Hope they pressure the beef more in the future.

Mona Roti provides great service to its patrons in Toronto. I've been going there for the past nine years.

Food is pretty good! But unfortunately and shockingly to my own experience first hand in seeing this- the cooks don’t even wear masks when cooking and they be wiping their noses etc and continuing to flip and clap rotis (2 old women). Their hair is even loose over the food which is another fright of mine! I really liked their food but that was a complete turn off especially since we’re in a pandemic with a terrible disease spread you would want to be more careful around food and customers! Please wear mask and gloves at all times! And wear hair nets you work in a food joint.

Wow I was totally amazed by the New look. Mona's has matured bloomed into an amazing beautiful flower. It is still the best place to buy one's Rotis but dont expect the "sweat shop" atmosphere from the past. In one word "WOW! ".

Mona’s Roti in Scarborough serves THE BEST TRINIDADIAN FOOD in the GTA and probably Ontario & Canada to be honest. I used to work in the area for a couple years and my team liked to eat out for lunch at least three times a week. We went to a lot of different places in the area which was awesome and reflected canadian multicultural cuisine at its best. The day my colleagues took me to Mona’s Roti was the day that I set the benchmark for what delicious tasting Trinidadian food should taste like outside of Trinidad itself. The lines were always out the door and on the sidewalk all the way to the other sides parking lot. We would carpool and everyone used to take turns standing in the line while the others stayed in the car. When you get to the front door, all you smell is fresh food being prepared and you can even see how they’re preparing everything, so no need to worry about uncleanliness. Staff members are so friendly and patient all while hustling back and forth to make sure the food is cooked right. No one looks or acts unfriendly, and they take the time to show you what the food looks like if you aren’t familiar. When you move along to where the food is for you to choose from, you can see everything is fresh and smells delicious. I have had the doubles, jerk chicken, curry potato roti, the boneless curry chicken roti, pholourie with tamarind sauce, the Trinidadian Solo drink, curry shrimp roti, tamarind balls, peanut punch, mango achar, split channa with salt and hot peppers, pone cassava cake, preserved red mango, and preserved cherries. Nothing on their menu is bad, everything tastes so good. After I went the first time, I always go back whenever I am nearby. The best trini food in canada! Oh and they don’t skimp on portions, they give you value for your money. Try this place ASAP!

Seems like white people have maybe taken over ownership or management or both. Much more efficient and more organized. Better social media presence. Better digital systems for order taking and tracking. Customer service is way better, don't expect the typical west indian customer service here. Food is always awesome

Food is great. Ordering system is pretty efficient also. At times too popular and some items not available.

Had their goat with rice meal. Good portion and the spice was just as we like it. Soon will try other items as well.

There is not a lot to say that hasn't already been said about Mona's - really good food. Service was fast and excellent. They have implemented a new system where someone takes your order as soon as you walk in so you don't need to fumble around at the counter and can stay away from a hygiene standpoint - so make sure you know what you want! Chicken Roti was great - well spiced and moist. My only complaint here was that I thought it was a little small. Had 2 kinds of doubles - channa + beef, both were fantastic and the drizzle of sauce they put on it really amps up the flavour to another level. Would definitely go back. Parking can be tricky and there is usually ALWAYS a lineup (rightfully so).

Very clean environment, staff is helpful and courteous, I love the idea of the staff wearing hair nets and gloves while preparing and serving food. This is my favorite place.

Mona's has always been my go-to spot in Scarborough. The roti and doubles are always fresh and delicious and the price is amazing as well. They also have an assortment of food snack like currant rolls which I love. I can't go to any other roti places on a regular. Definitely worth a try and repeat

Randomly found this place when we were in Scarborough. The queue outside gave us the confidence that this place was seriously popular (and good?). Turned out we weren't wrong to assume that. This place has the most rocking, flavorful rotis ever. My daughter who generally doesn't like to try new cuisines loved the food here. Can't wait to go there again!

My favourite dhalpuri in the city! Great food but no place to sit down right now. The main restaurant is undergoing renovations right now (summer 2019), so really just a take-out counter right now. Don't arrive at end if day (especially Saturday) or food selection will be limited. If they run out of a dish in the afternoon they don't always make more. For larger orders its probably best to email or phone in at the beggining of day.

The restaurant is first-rate and broad, the menu was delicious and the rates were very economical.fast, effective service and very amiable staff members. Highly recommended.

I use to love going to monas the food is still delicious but the portion sizes have gotten alot smaller and the price has gone up unfortunately i wont be going back its just not worth the price on the size of roti you get now days.

I enjoyed the roti and dhal puri on 8/8/19. I would have loved to taste more split peas in the pholourie. The tamarind sour was lovely. Visitor from London, England UK.

A friend of mine introduced me to this restaurant. Food is delicious, healthy and price is reasonable. Very busy place and they are renovating another unit possibly to add a dine-in area. Highly recommend if you are in the area and want to get a mouth-watering meal for yourself. I think they take catering orders as well.

The chicken was tasteless, and unseasoned. The roti tasted stale, after eating the roti I fell ill from food poisoning, and I wasn’t surprised to If I could get a refund, I would. I will NEVER eat at this establishment again. This is not a Roti

Ive been there few months ago and had a blast.
Perfect food, everything was great. Now, went there few days ago and after waiting almost 1hour line up (i cant understand how they know they have tons of people for lunch and have only 2 ladies to serve). I was i very disappointed at this time. Rice totally dry, curry goat believe of not dry as atacama dessert. The food definitely didn’t worth the long wait.

Roti is good but use to be better. The size seems smaller and the taste is not as good as before. The other menu items lack flavor, especially the curry. I usually buy the roti and make my own curry at home. The service is awful. Ordering is awkward because of the setup. Staff are not friendly at all. The freshness of the roti is the only good thing in my opinion.

This is the best roti I have had so far. I ordered a boneless chicken roti and it was massive. Very filling and delicious.

Food is great. I've always had my food served with perfection. Yes, this place is small and no.place.to sit and eat. This is meant for you to take food home with you and eat. Staff is friendly. Got my goat curry wrapped in roti with a drink and then on my way.

My go-to Roti joint the dhalpuri is made right infront of you while you wait assembly line style. Come hungry because these rotis are loaded and huge. Also pickup some doubles with tamarind sauce or pholouri with authentic Guyanese sour sauce, delicious!

First time going here and i for sure won't be going back. Staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. As it was my first time going here, i didnt know where the line started so I ended up Waiting to the far right for about 20 minutes until a customer told me i was at the wrong side. (The staff saw me and completely ignored me even when I was trying to ask them where the line was) so i go line up for another 20-30 minutes only to have another ignorant customer telling me i was budding in line. Which i was not, I was just standing to a slant because the door was right behind me and I didn't want to block it. Overall very frustrating because i know the staff saw me and what was happening within those 40 minutes of me there. I didnt even bother getting food after, I just left. No one wants to eat anything with bad energy surrounding it. Waste of time.

This place is a hit and miss when it comes to customer service. Unfortunately, most of these women don’t smile, it’s as if you’re bothering them. My experience today was unpleasant. I ordered a roti and she asked me which type of roti I wanted paratha and something else. I asked what was the difference and she said to her colleague in front of me “This is the first time she’s had a roti”. Now full disclosure, I’m black and yes I’ve had roti and have never been asked that question (which is what i responded to her). I found it so rude! Unfreaking believable! Instead of seizing the opportunity to educate me chose to ridiculise me. Anyhow, she’s probably never going to read this review but I just thought I would share this unpleasant experience with you. The positive experiences here outweigh my negative experience. The purpose of this post is just to advise you to set your expectations low. I’m not a connaisseur of roti nor Trinidadian food so I can’t comment on the food. It tasted good to me.

Boneless curry chicken great value. Roti is fluffy af, or get rice and peas if you want a really filling meal. Shared parking with Service Ontario though which is unfortunate. Too many poor drivers fighting for spots.

I ordered a goat curry and a mango curry and 3 dhalpourie. The lady forget to put the mango curry and give me goat curry with no gravy. How am i suppose to eat the dhalpourie with dry goat?

Im a frequent customar i always order for a crowd to u know. 2 stars is for the roti but otherwise i dont like the employees here at all they wannabees and rude unless u a man.they smile at mans.im a old lady they dont care about treating me right.i ask for hot sauce they tell me off.that i need to pay i said for what? I just spent over 50 bucks on meals.rosss.ohh.the rotis size has gone down but the price sky high honey

Beat Roti in town. I come from the west (Mississauga) to get her rotis. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The best doubles you can find. They can be quite busy on evenings and weekends, it try to get there before rush hour.
