With rates projected to rise and my renewal fast approaching, I was hoping to get locked in as soon as possible. Instead, my broker skipped our appointment for a social engagement and did not even have the decency to send me a message until the day after. He just didnt show up to the meeting.

Not to mention I inquired many months ago if it would be a good idea to lock in a rate before rates went up (it was still speculative at that time). He told me to wait and lo and behold Rates are now doubled.

Avoid this broker.

You said call me, I'm in the office all day, I did 5 times. Than I get an email your helping elsewhere, call me tomorrow, again repeat and nothing. I email you, nothing no one at mortgage brokers wants a mortgage renewal of 600k?

Our refinancing situation was complicated and presented challenges. Frank was a calming presence in stressful time. Frank and his team were very knowledgeable, quick to respond to our many questions and inquires throughout the whole process. Frank and his team where able to complete what we thought would be impossible by going above and beyond to find a lender to approve our completed situation. Thanks to Franks wealth of knowledge and list of resources we received great advice and a great mortgage

This is the second time we have used Mortgage brokers Ottawa and we highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy their first home, new home or simply to refinance their existing home. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed; I would bet my house on it.

We started the process of applying for a home equity LOC on May 27th. Although our situation is more complicated given we are retired, all necessary information was provided and Frank assured us the numbers supported the request. Further information was provided on June 25th and a major lender did a hard inquiry on our credit files on June 26th (and our credit history is excellent). Since then - nothing! No response to my email queries or voice mail queries. Nadda! It’s like we don’t exist?

So one of two things happened: One, they completely dropped the ball and are too embarrassed to admit so, or two, like a puppy mill, this ‘broker mill’ determined there was no commission in sight so closing with the customer was not important nor worthwhile.

We then contacted their manager of operations who is ‘apparently’ responsible for customer complaints. I was assured he would follow-up. Nothing. Nadda! But I guess we should not be surprised because if Frank (who is one of the founding partners) sets the example for customer engagement, then other employees at the company shouldn’t be blamed for the complete lack of professionalism.

It is now October 20th. We spent many years running a business and I have to ask: Is this now considered acceptable behaviour in today's business community? I simply cannot recommend this firm given the way we have been treated. It appears I am not the only one. I guess Frank is too busy doing local media interviews to focus on the customer?

Do not waste your time with Darren Keck. Most unprofessional mortgage agent I have ever met. Does not answer his phone, doesn't return texts or emails. We made the mistake of dealing with him 5 years ago. Tried again this year hoping that maybe he has changed. Nope, same frustrating guy. Never again.
