They have a great Butter Chicken Roti. $11.95 plus tax and it's quite big. I wish it was a bit cheaper but the sauce they use is pretty awesome.
Edit March 2018: now it's $12.95.sigh.
Edit 2023: I really can't justify the cost of the BCR anymore. The taste is great, but $18 after tax is BRUTAL. I know everything has gone way up in price, but I already found it to be on the pricey side a few years ago. At best it will be a rare treat now, rather than something I used to get several times a month.
I've been eating here for over ten years.easily. The food is super consistent and always delicious. Don't think there's a better roti in Toronto. My favs are the butter chicken and the malai kofta. MMmmmm MM! Getting one tonight!: D
Splendid experience! The food and service was amazing, I had and definitely recommend the chicken biryani, and butter chicken + garlic roti. It was amazing and delicious and mostly filled me up!
The ambience of the place is pretty cool, it's very homely. I had gone alone so couldn't try a lot of stuff. I had aloo chat and veg briyani. A little disappointing but was good enough. The service was amazing.
Not exaggerating. I don't think I have tasted worse vindaloo. I ordered mild vindaloo (because I know it's usually a spicy hot dish) but I am unimpressed with how flavorless I found it. The container wasn't even close to full like from other places. Eg. North if Bombay ; and I found the sauce thin. To me, it tasted as if they added water to fill up the dish. Not saying thats what they did but If they didn't then I don't know how it is lacking flavour. Mild does not mean flavorless. I will never order from here again. Epic fail.
Moved to Europe 3 years ago, before came to mother India regularly - today I ordered my fave butter chicken roti and it was absolutely heavenly. Hands down best butter chicken in Toronto that i have ever eaten and trust me I’ve tried many places in North America and Europe. Hands down this is my favorite! I recommend medium butter chicken roti…. Melts in your mouth heavenly goodness ️️ I wish I lived here. Sigh
There are multiple people on here who claim “the restaurant is closed, blah blah blah”. My experience with this restaurant has only been positive. Whether I call them for pickup direct, or order through DoorDash or Skip the Dishes etc. Food is great, the people are warm, and they care about their customers. I just needed to write a positive review after multiple people (who don’t know the staff) crapped on their customer service. Not fair. I like this place. Will definitely be back.
Who adds potatoes to butter chicken.i have had butter chicken all my life, and for the first time i have experienced potatoes in butter chicken instead of chicken.its not like your butter chicken was cheap.it was as expensive as other restaurants.so disappointing.
Three times now we've ordered from Mother India. Three times a different delivery services have apparently "picked up the order". Three times the delivery has been cancelled or never arrived. The 'driver' never answered the phone or messages. The restaurant was conveniently 'closed' when we called. This isn't a coincidence. Trash, garbage restaurant. Will spend the rest of my days telling everyone I know how terrible this place is.
We go here every Sunday. Beats Matha roti, and a few others we have tried. Rice is good. But most importantly its a good deal and great value. Love this place.
I ordered an eggplant potato curry on rice. It turned out to be quite plain and flavorless. Is it because I asked it to be mild? Well that isn't a good excuse for the lack of richness in taste. On top of that the meal was very runny and watery. The meal screams please never order me again, ever. The experience should be rated 2, top.
14 dollars for the curry chicken. I paid the two dollars for rice, because hey, that makes the most sense. Upon opening my tin, I was shocked to see a small line of curry and 4 small pieces of chicken. It was 95 percent rice. It tasted like hot garbage to boot. Definitely not a fond experience. Someone closed that tin for take out and felt they did a good job. You guys need quality assurance with what you put out. Disappointment does not create a fan base.
Always my favorite place for veg biryani, paneer makhani and saag paneer. Chefs have magic in there hands. Front desk staff are very polite and friendly
Person who took my order at front was reckless. I told clearly my order she took order in front of me and made me wait for 30mins in resturant and gave me wrong order she never had patience to listen what I was telling her. Very disappointing.
The person who takes the order through the phone, they dont take it properly and when we go to pickitup they are trying to prove us wrong and give some other order.it happananed more than 3 times now. We will never go back again and will not recommend this place to anyone.theu should know to treat customers better
Very dissapointing, who ever is inthe reception they cant understand anything, when we try to explain what we want and how we want it, they say got it sir got it And when we go there to pick it up after 30 min they give us something else and when we show it to them they say oh if you want you can wait for another 30 minutes we will give what you asked for (why should i wait for extra 30 min and waste my time) and they try to prove that the customer is wrong this has happaned to me for more than two three times now. I will never go back
Delicious and flavourful. The combination of spices in each dish is on point. One my favourite Indian places in the city. Pro tip: you can ask to add additional ingredients to dishes like butter chicken - it will cost a bit extra but worth having extra tasty things to eat in the dish.
Absolutely garbage food. Save your money and order anywhere else - the saag is watery, the eggplant sabzhi is also watery. And the butter chicken has potatoes mixed in.the food is also absolutely flavorless. Even when ordering "extra spicy" it tastes bland and I wouldn't be surprised if they just water down everything. This place is absolutely HORRIBLE and you would be better off eating just about anywhere else in Toronto. Good alternatives: banjara on bloor, glory of india, indian grill, or even just eating out of the garbage can would beat this absolute trash excuse for a restaurant. I threw out the meal because it wasn't even palatable, and I'm a fat man who eats everything.
The best Butter Chicken, Samosas, and Pakoras in town! We only order from here. The spice level is a bit spicier than most other restaurants so order accordingly. If you’re looking for a medium spice, go with mild-medium. It sounds ridiculous but it’s a thing. They have never disappointed and we’ve made more orders than I’m willing to admit to.
Ordered a Chicken Biryani and was very pleasantly surprised with the amount of chicken breast I got. Was better than biryanis I've tried from other Indian restaurants. For this reason, ill be back and will try more items on their menu
Ordered 2 chicken roti’s yesterday. I was surprised with the amount of filling that were in them. I usually get half the amount when I order from other Roti places. It was very good and filled my roti fix. I’ll be coming for more
Ordered Uber Eats from them while I was at work. Felt horrible and sick immediately after with the worst migraine. Thankfully, I only had 3 hours left on my shift. Came home and started vomiting and shaking. The food tasted good, but the food poisoning was not worth it. Will never order from here again. Avoid unless you want to experience food poisoning.
My boyfriend got food poisoning from the Shrimp dish at this restaurant. He got it last week with extreme symptoms and is still suffering from food poisoning today. AVOID!
I get their rotis weekly. The Matter Paneer one is the best! Soo good, whenever I live somewhere else, Mother India is one of the things I miss the most about Toronto.
AVOID! This place needs to close for health violations. I just got the worst food poisoning for over a week from their shrimp. Check other 1 star reviews, there are many complaints of food poisoning.
The roti is softer than my mom's and that's saying something lmao. The lamb was super tender; could have been spicier but I only chose medium spicy, so if you're used to spicy food definitely get it spicy.
First time eating from Mother India today, and I was sadly disappointed. I got a lamb roti, and though the flavour was delicious, for almost $15 after tax.it was not worth the price. There was probably only 5-7 or so pieces of lamb in the entire thing.
Butter chicken roti is all you have to say. Ill never get tired of it. Its so good that over the years the recipe has not changed. Most things on the menu are just as good but when in doubt, butter chicken roti
I ordered on uber eats and THEY SENT ME THE WRONG CURRY! Useless. I can't eat the curry they sent me and when I called to ask them to send me the correct curry they just left me on the phone and forgot about me. I called back and then she said "just call uber to fix it" which would take days. AVOID. They don't care about customers!
Amazing Butter Chicken Roti, came quickly and was freshly made.
Samosa's were made in advanced, which was fine, but they put it in the microwave rather than the oven before serving, so they're soft and soggy, don't recommend getting them.
Service was okay.
Drinks Menus were confused and out of date.
Select items were good, recommend getting takeout.
Got food poisoning last night! We ordered off Skip the Dishes because our usual spot was not open and it was rated 9.7 and I do not know how. We both were up all night. I canceled my plans obviously that we had to watch fireworks and when I told my friend they said they too got sick from here. I do not understand these 5 stars? Stay away and do not always trust Skip the Dishes.
I am giving 1 star because of your rotis which were good. It was first time i saw potatoes in paneer tikka masala. And your gravy was not even edible it was just a tomato pury with potatoes and paneer in it with no masalas and no taste.
I went there with a friend of mine. I actually was fascinated by the name which is why I was excited to go. But it wasn't particularly a good experience. We had the chat there which was okay-okay. So, we weren't really in the mood to order anything else. Might go there again to try the other items.
One of my friend told me about this place. The food z awesome, fell in love with butter chicken and chicken biryani. Great service by Raavi. The only thing which I dint like about this place is the ambience and I hope mother India is gonna work on this. Thanks
Ordered this for delivery today. The curries were very watery and sub-par in quality. Chicken tikka masala had more potatoes than chicken. The food felt re-heated and didn't taste fresh. Won't order again. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because the delivery was good and the food came quick.
It's weird because they have such good reviews, but I have had authentic and this falls short. The eggplant was uncooked and it seemed like the dish was thrown together in five minutes. Wasn't cooked down so all I had was heat and zero flavour. Disappointed
