Mount Joy Turf Field

Located behind Brother Andre. Parking is limited, as many people park here for the community centre as well. Lot gets quite full, so we try to come early. The turf is pretty worn out. Only 1 field. Heating is warm enough in the winter. There are portable bathrooms outside the dome. There is only 1 set of bleachers so seating is limited. Spectators often bring camping chairs. Vaccine certificate checks (QR Code) are currently being done at the door.

Field could use some repairs, but otherwise the field was okay. The ridiculous notion that the city of Markham has to close the community centre making soccer players/spectators find a restaurant down the street to use the facilities is nuts. All because the staff are too lazy and don't want to clean the washrooms a little bit more frequently. Not everyone has covid and most people are vaccinated. Not to mention the garbage were over flowing which is a safety risk in itself.

This Turf field definately needs a makeover. It serves so many kids and it is sad that no one is taking note of how run down it is. One advantage though is that the location is convinient, free parking and easily accesible. Something should be done soon for the sake of all those who use the Turf especially the kids.

Lots of parking available near the school area. Huge soccer field for games and weekend fun with the kids.

Wishing after dark it didn’t get filled with the usual high school kids smoking and drinking. Need more police enforcements for those or camera monitoring to ensure the field and area is kept clean.

Here four turf fields is available for rental used for various sports; soccer, football, rugby, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, drone flying, etc.

The turf field, when converted to an indoor facility in winter, is disappointing. The heater in the dome malfunctions at least once a year, leaving players to play in below zero temperatures. The league also fails to notify players of heater issues, so when players reach the field they are dressed inappropriately. After games the turf blades of grass get adhered to your clothing regardless of what you do. If you place your jacket on the ground gently - even without heavy disturbance - the turf will stick. Yours shoes will be covered in turf along with anything else you bring into the facility. This is a huge problem and I’m not sure the league has done anything to mitigate this. To make a long story short it will look like you got into a fight with a Christmas tree after every game and the turf will be everywhere include your car / house / workplace. Hopefully something is done.
