Decent food, friendly staff and great service. They always treat us well, especially towards my elderly family members and have many regulars who come. My go-to dish is usually the mixed seafood vermicelli (can't remember the name on the menu) with their in-house chili oil.
Front of house (lady who answers the phone) is amazing! She does Cantonese, Mandarin and English fluently, and makes sure the orders are all in place. Food is consistently good and delicious!
Large selection of HK style dishes for reasonable prices. Typically very busy on weekends, but easy to get a table on weekdays. They gave pumpkin dessert soup for free so I gave them 5 stars. There is 5% discount when you pay cash.
They increased the price a little bit just same as everyone did. However, the quantity and quality never changed. You won't be wrong with any of them. Enjoyed every visit.
Came for the afternoon tea menu but when I got the bill, lady said the prices on the menu is no longer valid and upcharged me for all dishes. She claimed due to inflation the menu prices are wrong.
The restaurant should update the menus if those prices aren't the real price you charge customers. The food is good, but I'm left with a really sour taste
Maybe because I don't speak their language they feel they can do this?
Jumbo won ton soup noodle is a 5 Stars, beef tendon lo- mien also 5 stars. Large Quantity size @8.20 n 8.50 yield super value with a free drink in either cold HK bubble tea, coffee or red bean ice cream slush (free drink only from 3-5pm daily), Seating is a bit tight though
We went back to our favourite Cantonese congee diner. Great comfort food and hit the right spot. They have afternoon tea set which comes with entree along with hot or cold drink. Great value and generous portions. Follow me on IG whenhungerstrikes17.
Prices of the food in both Mr Congee are very fair and reasonable and the portions are never a problem so you get the bang for the buck. The warden location might be a bit more crowded as it’s public transit accessible. Quality and services would be similar for both locations. Evening meal experience has been very good too. Worth checking out if you’ve never been.
We came on a Wednesday and got the Crispy Roast pork belly for lunch. The skin was nIce and crispy. It was busy and they had lots of take out orders. So arrive ealry or be prepared to wait. The small side dishes- fresh fruit, spring roll and soup were above average. HK tea was very good. Other sit down chinese restaurants for lunch taste like food court quaility. Mr. Congee is more expensive but worth the extra few dollars.
Dishonest restaurant. Bought BBQ pork and BBQ duck from here. Price is higher then others BBQ place. The man serve at the BBQ counter not wearing mask. He cheated on the weight of 1Lb BBQ pork. First he weight 1 lb BBQ pork on it own (which had 4 pieces), then he cut 3 pieces up and hold back one piece. He then added the sauce to the container which sat on top of the scale. He added enough sauce so that the weight of the container and 1 lb of BBQ pork read 1.04 lb. So for every 1lb he saved 1/4 lb. This restaurant is dishonest and I won't buy from them again.
I placed an order at 8.04 and been there at 8.20, services are terrible, lady keep telling me to sit and wait, they will call my name.i was like, okay i will wait than. Around 8.40 no one called my name and i have checked again the food is ready. I was so freak out, and lady with terrible service told me she need to check my receipt, she charged me 20 minutes ago and provide no receipt terrible service don't go there!!!
Recently went here for dinner with my friends. Great menu, pretty typical for a Cantonese style restaurant. Their Peking Duck 2 dish combination with the stir fry and lettuce wrap is a great value and it's delicious. Rice wraps are of a thinner style albeit a tad sticky and hard to seperate. Their tea light setup to keep them warm is impressive though. Ordered a few other dishes to compliment the meal. BBQ combination with pork/chicken and rice, 2 veggie dishes for some greens. Well rounded gourmet meal that came to $125 for 5 ppl with leftovers for 2 meals. Definitely worthwhile. Dinner was topped off with a complimentary dessert of red bean and sago soup. 10/10 Will be coming back.
Lots of selection of dishes. They're made fresh and of good quality. Portions are good as well. Food came out quick although they missed a couple of the dishes and we have to remind them a few times. Restaurant is quite spacious and clean. Good place for a group.
I came here on Saturday night with my fiancé and his family for our CNY dinner. The service was good, they gave us a small appetizer on the house because our dishes took a bit longer. I totally understand it because they had a full house and non-stop takeout orders. When our dishes finally came, they were amazing. The dishes was hot and the quality was fresh. The best dishes was the sweet and sour pork, beef with broccoli and their Peking duck. I recommend ordering those when you dine here. Will definitely come back here when I'm in town again.
Tens of people wsiting for pickingup.no one manage to even ask your order number.no 2 meters.crowed.when ypu ask for help, no one will even answer you.
Came here in the afternoon today and ordered the sea food congee the one that cost around 16 bucks, Service was friendly and courteous.
However was food was not great. The salmon had a strange taste, it tasted sour. I suspect it had gone bad. When I returned home after the meal, I felt sick and wanted to barf. Won't be returning here anytime soon.
Busy restaurant with big portions and tasty Cantonese food. Their prices might appear to be a bit higher but it's worth it considering how big their portions are. Food came out piping hot and fresh, and the ingredients used were all very good quality. Almost everything was a bit on the salty side though.
We got the clay pot rice which you should order right away since it takes ~30 minutes. Worth the wait since it came with plenty of toppings and a crispy rice layer. Their BBQ meats are popular and tasty too.
Service is fast but perhaps because of the masks and busy atmosphere, they got 2 of our orders wrong which they quickly remedied. I did notice that the man cutting the BBQ had his mask pulled down under his chin the entire time we were there.
There was no air conditioning inside, the entrance door from the parking lot was left opened. We felt very uncomfortable while eating. It was 3.30 pm. The temperature with the humidity was as high as 40°C. Definitely not an enjoyable experience.
We were not aware there was different pricing ordering online with price ordering over the phone. The former is cheaper. Otherwise, food was good and large portions
Still serving good and tasty Chinese HK-style food. Prices have gone up a little during the pandemic. Out-door seating is well-spaced to Covid safety protocols.
Even not deserve one star, NEVER ORDER MEAL FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!!This is what $50+ 's meal looks like, they filled the box by chips instead of duck meat!Even I'm a Chinese I'm still SHAME ON YOU!
Great prices for quality authentic Chinese cuisine dishes. The portion are generous and the staff are kind. Great place for sit in patio - during corona, or take out! Awesome all rounder Chinese Cuisine
Highly recommended Peking Duck Combo! My mom loves Peking Duck, so I decided to make it her birthday meal. Their Peking Duck combo includes sliced duck meat and skin (with wrap, green onion, cucumber and bbq sauce), and your choice of duck meat soup OR stir fried duck meat (with lettuce as wrap). I was excited coz it's exactly what I remember having when I was a kid. All in one price. Other restaurants are either not offering such classic combination, or they charge extra for the second duck meat dish. I saw this combo and immediately put my order online. No doubt it's the best deal I've seen.
We also ordered fried crab and boiled shrimp. As you can see in the photos, Peking Duck were in a good portion. I forgot to take a photo of duck meat soup. It came in 3 plastic containers. We only finished one that night, and the other two were used for making noodles and porridge later in the week. Everything were well packed and delicious. My mom was super happy as she didn't get to go out a lot due to pandemic. This awesome birthday meal definitely lifted her spirit up high!
As I was looking online at menu of some other restaurants that are famous for Peking Duck, I noticed many reviews mentioned takeout portion is small and the quality has decreased since pandemic. After LONG HOURS of research, I came across Mr Congee. We visited Mr Congee regularly before pandemic, but never noticed they also offer Peking Duck. It's a pleasant surprise!
Poor customer service. Our pickup time is 6: 30-7: 00pm and we've been waiting here for a whole hour. Either update your website to not allow multiple orders for pick up at the same time, hire more cooks in the kitchen, or get organized. Ridiculous that you make a whole family wait that long for a take out meal.
We ordered 2 beef noodles with our order and got 1. Like come on. Do your due diligence and check to ensure you've got everything the customer ordered on the bill.
This is a great place. Good food, good quantity of food and decent prices. They still offer afternoon tea with a free drink and you can add a side dish for $3. Really great deal. They'll even accept credit card. And right now if you pay in cash it's 10% off.
Food was very delicious and portions were very big. Really happy with my meal. I liked how the grouper dish had a lot of fish and vegetables. The fish maw soup tasted great and had a lot of fish maw in it. The fried rice was perfectly fried with a good amount of meat added. Finally, the fried turnip portion was huge and it was tasty. Will for sure be ordering from here again.
They couldn't find my order. Perhaps you should do a better job handling pick-up orders considering there isn't any dine-in. Perhaps you should try writing down the order next time
I love their online takeout platform. It makes ordering ahead much easier! You can even pay cash in store for 10% off.
Mr. Congee's food has always been really delicious. The portion sizes are great. Our family enjoys ordering here, especially the Peking Roast Duck meal!
2020-03: foods the same as before. Nothing special. Food is decent. Their congee is pretty good along with their other dishes. When they have specials, it's certainly not bad. 2019: It's not bad. Typical Chinese restaurant with a good selection of dishes. Price a little higher than others.
Disgusting cutlery. Asked to get a new cup (which had a food stain) and waitress was extremely rude - no acknowledgement, no apology, didn’t say anything at all. Took my cup and gave back another one that STILL had stains on it. Just had to wipe it off myself - as usual. Kind of ruins the food and experience when you’re eating off filth.
This restaurant is great, the good is always tasty and it comes with chinese dessert! If what you have ordered is over around $40 you get a coupon for your next visit with some discount.
Food is delicious but the service is mediocre. Friend had to repeatedly ask for a cup and cutlery as they never provided us with them even after we ordered. The meal was really great though.
This place is superior to Congee Queen for most menu items (better quality, lower price). Food quality and portions are consistent. Space is a bit small inside for busy times. Connected to mall which is convenient.
I adore this restaurant! They serve first-cleass food, they have a nice menu, The chef in that spot is an expert, I love a lot eating all their dishes. The food is always good, the attitude towards the clients is good. I often eat in this place and I was never disappointed. I recommend it with no hesitation.
Food is okay. Nothing exceptional but not overly bland. Service was so-so. They can be fairly standoffish and sometimes will rush you. I tried to pay with card once and the girl at the register asked if I had cash instead. I get it, you want to pretend the transaction never happened, but if I had cash, don’t you think I would have used it?
The layout is meant to maximize the number of customers seated and not great for walking around and is very cramped.
I do not know how many times i visit this restaurant.it is always busy.this time.i order food to take out. BBQ PORK and duck are tasty and tender.deep fry squid is very fresh.egg fry rice with shrimp is the best food.i will visit more often.
Good experience. They have the "lobster tower" here at a much cheaper price than Fishman Wharf! The lobster and crab are live and fresh. Service is excellent. The regular dishes are very good also. Thank you for a nice time!
Came here for lunch and it is always busy here. The lamb in clay pot could use some more marinating. Thu lunch special isn't much to boast about. They changed the menu a bit too and the prices are about $10-12 for a dish
This restaurant has been a local favorite ever since opening. Great food, great portion size, decent service. My only compliant is that the restaurant need to be larger since it could get very busy during meal times.
Its closes as 11pm. Good food quality. We arrived in the city around 9pm so after check in we had to get some food where nothing was open except this place. Varieties of choice among authentic Vietnamese and Cantonese food. Not too expensive but they serve a lot. Wait time is very short too. We couldnt finish it. Very respectful area.only ladies server. Speak a little english.and Safety is big concern late night with family. So check it out.
EDIT: 13% service fee automatically charged on top of the bill, even on takeout. So changing my rating and not going back.
Original: Pretty good food for reasonable prices. Gets extremely busy during dinner times. Reservations don't really mean anything, so you can try, but don't expect them to hold a table for you. Congee is their staple and they do it well. Service is very average. Food is usually fairly quick. The place is small and though renovated now, removing a number of walls, it's still incredibly cramped when it's busy. Two entrances, one outside the mall and one inside that looks more like a side door. Lots of parking in the mall lot.
