Mr. Congee Chinese Cuisine

Bad experience in this location, bad service, bad food, never go to this restaurant again.

Great food. Be careful when ordering. I once got a noodle dish that had mixed seafood and different meats. I asked that it not have mixed seafood but shrimp was okay. I. The end they only gave me shrimp and charged me for the seafood and meat noodle.not sure how they figured that would make sense.
Other then that it's been great

Pretty decent Chinese cuisine with reasonable prices. Portion was good and food served hot. Good customer service. The server Jason was very helpful and attentive. The only concern was the food came out in 20-30 minutes. The wait time to get the table was also long.

We went there @ before 9pm, they accomodate us but the lady who attend us just drop the menu on the table and leave

Need to have a customer service training on how to deal with the customer.

As soon as they put the food they ask us to pay and while we are eating the guy is doing vacuum on our side.

We end up putting our food in the containers and eat at home.

It is so frustrating to eat there.

The surface of tea pitcher was so looks dirty, they should wife it before bringing to the table.

Lunch: We had a very quick and tasty meal. Reasonable price
Dinner: Very busy with several large families but the food arrived quickly and as tasty as the earlier lunch. Bitter melon with beef and sweet and sour chicken and shrimp.

Great food at good price. We tried different types of congee before and they were all great. Their BBQs are also great, especially the roast duck. Servers are very friendly and we felt welcomed. Sometimes we called and hold a table ahead of time.

Food is above, but if you have ever been to Chi’s Congee house in Mississauga, then you will know the difference in flavour instantly. The Congee and other dishes there are exceptional!
I ordered the super bowl seafood congee A7, salted fish and diced chicken fried rice and shrimp green onion efu noodle.
Food was above average, good quantity and fair pricing compared to other similar restaurants.

I always like this Congee Queen. Not only for the food but also the high ceiling of this restaurant which makes it not as noisy as others

Food wasn't fresh, service was slow and made mistakes which theh didn't want fix it unless we asked another waiter. But in the end, my family and I couldn't finish the food and drinks. Bad prices for the quality

Everything was so good from food to service. Definitely worth your money! We got 2 lobsters, a lobster noodle, beef dish, mixed Sautee veggies, fried rice and 3 iced lemon teas. It was only 185 before tip. And it comes with a dessert at the end on the house too. Will be back!

Service was very slow, it takes 45 minutes to served our first order and NOT fresh. The server charged $$ us with dish that never served and we have to clarified it.

If you ever planning to order take out or ubereats don't expect to be ready for at least 1 hr. They never have enough staff to manage both takeout and front store. You will see staffs constantly arguing with each others. If you ask them about your order after u paid they will give you attitude. Basically only nice when taking your money. Very disorganize for takeout or uber eat.

Really busy but also really good food. I'd recommend going there some time with a group to eat.

Congee places seem really like a sharing place with people, you order a few big plates and then just share it all. What we got was some really good food. I'd recommend them again

Really terrible service maybe they have lots of clients walk in and they don’t care about the take out order. I order the food from DoorDash and they cancel my order even not notice me! I am waiting for 1 hours with nothing! They even not worth one star

Mr. Congee meets the standards of Chinese cuisine in Richmond Hill, a heavily populated Asian community. My family and I came here on a Wednesday night and restaurant was at 50% capacity.

Food was great except I found the fried squid to be a little on the saltier side. The hostess also seated us close to the exit so when someone left the restaurant, my family and I could feel the cold air hitting our skin. Didn’t exactly have the best dining experience but overall, service was quick and friendly.

The Worst customer service place ever! Ordered a veg noodle over the phone and I received a beef noodle.
I informed him I ordered 30 mins ago and he was not interested in helping me and attended to other customers. He said he doesn't have the order and acted as he doesn't care if the customer walks out.
The reviews are so true at this place. Looks like the owner doesn't care about the place reputation. Never again will I order here. It was my first and last.

Absolute chaos. The people working at the takeout booth have absolutely zero customer service skills. They get mad at the customer for their own lack of organizational skills and preparation. Called in 4ish hours earlier prior to pickup and we still had to wait 45+ minutes to pick up after the scheduled time.

Honestly, their food is mediocre at best and however cheap the prices are, it’s not worth getting yelled at.

Oh and the wait staff actually SHOVE you aside when you’re in their way, which is unavoidable since everybody is crowding around the takeout booth.

Needless to say, there is absolutely zero social distancing measures. There’s this waitress that did everything from handling cash, touching a customers phone, adjusting her mask (gross) and handling food/takeout.

Terrible service. Only severe the ppl speaking Cantonese first. Also, lack of management in lobby causes everyone to butt the line. And definitely no social distancing of any sort.

Also the take out food has has been try little meat and protein. Mainly filled with onion and green onion. So disappointing compared to dine in in terms of quality and quantity of the food.

The service here has always been average to poor which I'm happy to put up with because the dishes are so delicious. There is depth in the flavour! The noddles has a fire/smokey wok scent. The seafood has a delicious garlic fragrance with most dishes covered in a beautiful oily shine. The take out we got last night was completely different. The colour was dull with no shine, and the flavour was bland with no aroma. A VERY notable difference if your a regular of this place.the flavours are overall bland and appearance is dull and grey.

So i thought it was an off night until I spoke with my chinese mother who confirmed this to be the case. Not only that but her friends also noted the same decline.

I hope they improve soon because this has been a favourite spot for many in the Richmond hill community.

I waited 45 mins for my food and I selected in-store pick-up option.

The only reason why I go here is because of the convenience of the location. Otherwise, there's not much else that would draw me to this place. Plenty of other options if you're able to drive another 10-15 mins.

I saw the same waiter (wearing a mask and gloves) touch a dog another customer brought it and then serve my food.

Don’t order food from this restaurant via any delivery app, this restaurant won’t take your order until 1hour after, at the time you contact them they will always say food is already cooked, can’t cancel or get any refunds

Pretty good food. Unfortunately, the pork hock lo mein didn't come with the greens as shown. Everything else ordered (congee, broccoli, lamb skewers, turnip cake) were all good.

Love this Cantonese restaurants, I can't count how many times I went there. Like their lemon chicken, stir fried rice noodles with shrimp and Sautéed deep fried Lobster.

As a Vietnamese who ate Chinese food for 15 years in Singapore, I would say the food here is decent and flavourful, but nothing special based on the dishes I tried: stir fried green beans with minced pork, stir fried beef with egg. I don't think I'll come back unless there is no other food option around town.
Service can be improved as well, but I guess I can't complain much due to COVID-19 putting a strain on every restaurant.

Mistakenly ordered the crispy skin chicken. It was delicious. Crispy skin and I have no idea how they make it so moist.

We were meeting with our Chinese friends and decided to surprise them with takeout from Mr. Congee. Bad idea! Neither of us liked the food and my husband had a food allergy next day, likely due to MSG in the food.

We have been eating at this place regularly for a few years and loved the taste and portions. However our recent takeout order was a complete disaster. Not sure if they changed the chef but the general tao chicken wasn't fresh at all and the chow mein noodles wasn't cooked well.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing service. This is a long drive for me and my family but it's worth it every time.

Don't do it to yourself, this place is trash. UNPROFESSIONAL service and UNSEASONED food.

The servers are EXTREMELY RUDE and IMPOLITE. I kindly asked for a separate bill between my friend and I and the waitress was being ignorant and gave one bill of 50 dollars. We tipped her 10% and she had the audacity to say that the tip was NOT ENOUGH! How selfish of her! She treated us very poorly; She was speaking very loudly to other waitresses in another language and was watching us eat.how UNCOMFORTABLE! Not even that but the waitress messed up our order by giving us an extra dish that we didn't ask for! She forced us to take it home, meaning that we had to pay for it! If you ever get served by Cindy, the waitress who served us.please ask for another one to take over because you will have a TERRIBLE dining experience with this rude lady. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone who is expecting for excellent customer service and satisfaction! There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants that have MUCH BETTER SERVICE AND FOOD!

One of the better Chinese restaurant in North Richmond Hill area. The food is excellent and very authentic Chinese food. The best dishes are the Lobster, Peking Duck and steamed oyster. The service is very prompt but don't expect VIP style treatment. The price is also very reasonable and portions are huge. The only negative about this place is the cleaness is not up to par.

Food is ok, but apparently they don't think the reservation means anything to them. When we got there with 12 empty stomach (on time), they plainly told us there's no table for us. What we had to do is just standing by the door. They didn't even give us a number or anything. If u try to reserve a table or anything, just give up. They barely have time to talk to u.

A lot of people have said that this is a good place to go eat so I decided to come here with one of my friends to see if this was an actual “ good “ place. I have red the reviews and they all look great but when I came here it was extremely awful. The service is slow and the food wasn’t even that good. I know a lot more better Chinese restaurants than this one. One of the waitresses couldn’t speak properly and when I asked for something about the menu she had a call someone else to help me out and the other Waitress couldn’t even help us. Not my point, the waitress not once could come up and check on us to see if everything was fine. And before we’re going to get something we asked the waitress if we could split the money amongst each other And they said yeah. When we were about to pay we had to pay $30 each even including the tip. I asked the lady twice if could spilt the money and she kept complaining that she couldn’t which is extremely ignorant of her. Y’all are racist people. Just because we are not Chinese doesn’t mean you can all trick us into paying more or treating us like garbage. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who lives around Richmond hill area!

This place is similar to Congee Queen or Congee Wong or whatever it’s called as their names all contain ‘Congee’ with it.but they have more than congee and yes, chinese food. How did i find this place? Usually I just come for noodle soup or some fried rice or noodles. To be honest l, my rating is based on these and i never tried their pricy dishes as I didn’t want to spend too much in these category of restaurants (only in my own opinion). So the portion is not bad, flavor wise is not bad too but you might find it a bit high on the oil and salt side. About the atmosphere.it can be better if the place is more cleaner.just find that the cleaning cloth for tables is always the most disgusting thing in chinese restaurants.again it’s only my personal opinion.anyways, it’s okay to come for a quick bite.don’t expect high class service.

Came here with my friend and we ordered a side dish that we shared. The waitress’ name is Cindy; we reminded her 3 TIMES to ensure that the side dish is spilt between the both of us. She COMPLETELY ignored us and not only did she forget to split the bill, she gave us only ONE bill of $50. She told us that their restaurant doesn’t do separate bills, this is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS because they gave another group sitting beside us SEPERATE bills. The server brought us an extra dish that we didn’t order, and she tried to walk away telling us to just take it home, meaning we have to pay for it, we had to call her back and tell her we weren’t going to pay for a dish we didn’t ask for. Then she took the dish and gave us rude looks. From the start these servers were giving us a rude attitude and always standing right behind my chair with 2 other servers talking loudly in another language and staring at us. It was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Despite this horrible dining experience we tipped $5.00, which is a lot of money for university students. Unless she’s very ignorant, she must of known how bad her service was, yet she asked for MORE MONEY saying it wasn’t enough. As students who work hard for their money and don’t often go out to eat, we expect and deserve better service with respectful servers! Everytime I come here with friends that are not asain, the servers show me and my friends less respect. OVERALL, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR and UNCOMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE!

Came here for lunch with a few friends. Lots of parking spots. Food taste good. We ordered congee, fried rice noodles with beef, roasted pork, kung pao Chicken, fried rice, stir-fried green beans (6 dishes in total). Cost was 100 including tax and tips. Very reasonable price for Cantonese food.

This place is my go to dinner joint with my family.food is on time and delicious.try this place out for some decently priced chinese flavours and dishes.

Used to get take out from this place but the food quality keeps getting a worse.

Ordered food for takeout. The foods were bland, not sure if it is how it is if youre dining in. I ordered mapo tofu, shrimp egg fried rice, and shanghai noodle. For some reason they all tasted same. Shrimp egg fried rice was not fried at all, it seemed they simply put congee soup on top of steamed rice. Mapo tofu were cut very large, the sauce did not have any taste. Very surprised. Will never come back.

Typical Cantonese food restaurant. Food was good. However the place was extremely crowded and noisy, and they even forgot to put our order in which they only found out after we had waited half an hour with empty stomach.

Been here a few times for dinner and cooking has been consistently good. Definitely my regular place to go.

Good value for money. Potion size is large and price is good. Service, like many Chinese restaurants, is just okay.

Food here is really great. Once our order was placed, the food came out relatively quick and with good temperature. But the service needs improvement; they are unorganized and inattentive. Even with the buzzer on the tables for convenience, servers don't come. There's usually a wait and they are very busy. They festively decorated the restaurant for Chinese New Year, which was nice. At the end, they gave us a $5 off business card for our next visit.

A nice Hong Kong style restaurant serving delicious food at reasonable price. The place is clean and neat and the staff is friendly.

Food is great tasting and low in price. Service has been improved with call service buttons. Unfortunately when my party and I sat down at our table almost every bowl and spoon that was put infront of us was dirty. Also the other buttons on the call remote seem to all do the same thing.

The food and the price was very good. The restaurant was clean and so was the washroom. Parking was ample during the week night. They also have free WiFi. If you need to waive down for service, there is a button you press to get service.

Good service. Definitely enjoyed the pepper and salted fried octopus and stonepot mussels! I've never tried anything like it - it was so tender and not rubbery like live mussels or soup ones. The lobster dish was great - not the best I've had but the garlic and ginger really went well with it. There was a lot of food and I enjoyed every single one.

First time going to mr congee. It was very busy but the waitress we had was super nice! We got our food very quickly and it was DELICIOUS.the portions are HUGE so we had to take a lot to go, but so worth it for the price you’re paying. Definitely recommended this place! Will 100% be returning:)!
