Mr John's Real Kerala Kitchen

My friends and I ordered a variety of main dishes including the pork varatiyathu (my favourite). We paired them with paratha and rice. The food was overall very flavourful, and portion sizes are good. Family style dining is a good option here, and there was a great selection on the menu. I would happily come back here to eat Kerala-styled food!

Decent food but a bit pricey if you dine-in.

Really appreciate the service of the entire team! A full tray of takeout curry got spilled on our way home, we called the store to knw if they could arrange another tray of the same. They made exact same quantity of the curry, wrapped and packed it in a box for us. To our surprise, the owner didnt charge us anything for the second tray.
And yes the food was yummy!

The food was overall great, still one of the top Kerala restaurants to grab food from. We arrived around 8 pm on a Sunday, many of the popular items were not available at that point. We got appetizers, mains, desserts and drinks. I have had Kanthari chicken from here before and it was great, but this time what we got was burned. Other than that all other food was great.

The food was amazing…. The owner was hospitable…. We ordered kerala porotta, pepper beef curry, egg masala.
Value for money and you will come back for the food.

A destination for Kerala delicacies that you crave.best for times you are missing home cooked Kerala food. Good portions and authentic taste. We have tried the mutton biryani, Kerala meal, Payolli chicken fry, kappa (tapioca), fish shappu (shop) curry, parotta, beef varatiyathu. Everything’s yummy. Visit with an appetite and for finger licking food. Customer service is quick and top notch. Everything is reasonably priced and place has a good ambience. It’s crowded on weekends during lunch hours.

Waiting time is very long. And they don't even remember what we ordered. Came multiple times to take orders.

Authenthic Kerala food, and one of the best in Toronto. Spicy and tasty. However, they could do much better if they improve restaurant services.

The dine in was awesome as the staff were friendly and the dishes were nice. Though it took some time to get the food, they were so tasty. We ordered pork fry, beef fry, appam, porotta, meen pollichath, lime juice, coffee, tea, and beef roast. Everything was nice. But once I ordered the takeout, it was like half the taste of dine in. I think they provide different food for takeout and dine in.

The food, especially the Nadan Beef Curry, tasted just like how you’ll get in Kerala or homemade beef curry. The Malayalam songs playing in the background transports you back to India. The kerala parotta and appam was beyong delicous! Also, special shout out to the server who was patient with us as we kept ordering for more!

Mr Johns is a very reccomended place for spend time & try some delicious south indian foods.especially naadan kerala foods.

I still remember the first time I had a fish meal from the restaurant and it was delicious, comprised almost 7 side dishes. Keeping this in mind, I visited this place again, but the food was not good enough to meet my expectations. The side dishes was precisely half in number and when asked, they said they are running out of certain curries. If they do not have enough food to serve the customers, they should inform them before taking the order. After all we are paying a pretty good amount for a meal.

Service and taste is good. But its better for the management to consider the portion. I have ordered fried rice for take out and the box was not completely filled. Same with biriyani as well. When you fix a price and a container for a dish please make sure you fill it properly.

I have tried both dine in and takeout from here, the food tastes really nice and have authentic flavour, a little bit pricey though The dine in area looks cool and clean. But recently for my takeout orders i have been noticed that containers are not filled completely. When you are choosing a container for a food make sure that it is properly filled otherwise go for a different size rather than fooling the customer.

Food is good. Competitively a decent dine-in restaurant and comparatively one of not many restaurants in scarborough. But experienced poor table service several times and had to leave one time because of the dishes on menu were not available at that time. Hope that changes eventually. Beyond that the food is good.

The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with comfortable seating and a pleasant ambiance. The service was friendly and attentive, with staff who were happy to make recommendations and ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. The menu had a good variety of options, with something to suit every taste and dietary requirement.

A special shoutout to the service staff Tincy who is very quick and she offered suggestions and made recommendations based on our preferences, and their knowledge of the menu was impressive.

It was a nice experience in mr johns, All staffs are so friendly and we got peaceful atmosphere…food was delicious with low prices.

We had dine in last day, the wrost biriyani ever! And got food infection too. We are paying for the food, so please try to give quality food! That's our first and last visit. Wrong choice for food. Very disappointed!

THE WORST EVER FOOD EXPERIENCE. They don't sell anything freshly cooked. The Chicken 65 I tried was pathetic. I had food poisoning like symptoms the very next day. The fried chicken seemed to be old, I highly doubt they change the frying oil everyday. Would strongly recommend to eat from any of the nearby restaurants but not here.

Yesterday I had a great lunch at this restaurant. It was a great experience with their delicious food menu and great service especially a tall guy, who managed to provide his best even in that busy time.

It was a take out only place. Now they expanded to a dine in place. Almost the menu is same as their take out option. If you need cheaper price, you go for take out. Else, you can dine in for a better service and decent ambience. I prefer to take out from here.

We visited this place few days ago. The taste was really awesome. But the quantity was very less compared to the price. We ordered Chicken fried rice, parotta, beef roast, tawa fish & desert. The fried rice's was not enough for atlest one person. And the price of tawa fish was also not reasonable compared to the quantity. Apart from that, the food was delicious.

We choose to dine in there and it was a bitter experience for everyone. Had ordered biriyani, chicken curry and it was a disaster after stepping out, everyone had symptoms similar to food poisoning. Please look into your food quality and standard as well felt it to be wrong decision moments after leaving your shop.

A bowl of plain rice costs 8$, and you get very less for the price, had to order another bowl to fill my tummy. Prices are insane for dine in.

I have been having food from Mr. Johns very often but recently started having worst experiences. Comparing to other malayali restaurants Mr. Johns food prices are high and quality is average. Last time I ordered Kerala porotta, beef fry and pork fry, they are charging beef and pork fry around 17$ and the quantity I got was very poor. Before that I ordered plain rice with fish curry. Fish curry was good but the plain rice they are charging $7.99 and its not worth the money they served it in a very small bowl, and I had to order another bowl of rice. They are simply charging for nothing I would say.

2 weeks ago I bought Porotta and Beef fry. The beef fry was excellent but the Porotta was not good. It was too small and hard. Anyway, beef fry was good.

First time dine in, was a nice experience.
Kakka erchi was kidu Kerala meals was delicious.

We had food from here many times. It is good. But it is also depend on the item. The biryani was not that good. But beef and porotta was good. Kizhiporotta was not that great. Appam was not like the one I was familiar with but it tasted okey. We ordered lemon pepper garlic chicken saying that it’s a special item but it was below average we ended up not eating that.
