My Hang Vietnamese Submarine

Absolutely love this place but the prices keep going up. Only a couple of months ago I bought a dozen and it cost me $50 and then today to my surprise that same dozen cost me $60. I remember when I used to get them for $3.5/ea a few years back. At this price I will be buying them less frequently unfortunately. It used to be well worth the trip coming all the way from the west end but now for me not so much. Don't get me wrong the subs are delicious.

I have yet to try food.and will. But my son was raving about the ice coffee. OMG.a must try! Tim Hortons and Mc Ds move over.this is by far the best Ice coffee i've EVER had! I would STONGLY recommend ice coffee lovers to try it.you will indeed thank me.

Cheap price, fast service if you order ahead, tasteful banh mi with perfect protein, convenient food for breakfast, lunch, quick dinner & best food for picnic.

First time eater of bahn mi, here. Had an A1 Special Sub. It was lovely. I didn't know you could order hot peppers on it, but I will next time. Can't beat the price, either.

I’ve been eating from here since I was a little girl. I’m almost 40 now and still love this place. Sub is always fresh and consistent. They are clean when prepping your subs. They wear gloves and wash their hands in between taking cash. They only accept cash here. Parking is a pain but worth it. Hubby gets the tofu subs and he loves it. I get the regular toasted and it’s absolutely crunchy and fresh. The pate makes this sub authentic. They are usually busy especially on weekends. Just walk in the door, don’t be shy, once they greet you just shout out your order. I always grab other goodies in their fridge as week. Buy 5 subs get 1 free!

Very good. Bun is a but big so ends don't have as much filling. Would like to see whole wheat option for prediabetics.

Great banh mi spot! Fresh sugar cane juiced right in front of you if they are able to get their hands on some. Good service and I really enjoy their dessert fridge.

This place has been around for a minute. Please support this small business for as long as you can. The couple is so cute and sweet. Everything in the shop is so affordable and you can buy 4 bahn mi and get the 5th one free. The best place in ottawa to get bahn mi! Everyone I've showed this shop to loves it

Great place to grab a quick sandwich for lunch. Fast and made to order. Reasonable pricing. Some specialty items on weekends but no more once sold out.

My favorite shop for vietnamese baguettes with vietnamese specialty bacon. They have vietnamese deserts and other snacks as well.

Get their iced vietnamese coffee! Sure it's sweet (especially if you see the amount of condensed milk they use) but coffee is good enough to offset the sweetness.

Banh mi is not that bad, but not the greatest. However, for what they're charging, it's hard to complain.

Can’t beat the price, and the Banh Mi was quite tasty. Ordered during COVID and the sandwiches were prepared pretty quickly (<5 min for a tofu+dac biet) but they’re not toasted, so we popped them in the oven first. Incredible for $4, but bring cash!

The service was very friendly, bubble tea was delicious and they I got some of the Vietnamese sandwich that they just started doing. A little light on the filing but the bread was really fresh and warm. I'd definitely eat it again.

This is a great family owned Vietnamese sub place. Food is cheap and good. They also sell other food and drinks that are pre-prepared and ready to take home.

The quality of the sub-marine isn't the same as it's used to be. There are much less 'Bi' in 'Banh Mi Bi' and they no longer offer cucumber with the subs. Too many short cuts! Rude husband!

Uhh, sub-par banh mi.the bread is served cold, untoasted, and they have six varieties. One of them - Fish Banh Mi or Banh Mi Ca - tastes like you would imagine canned sardines would taste like (it’s overstuffed with that stuff).

Went here because of the pleasant reviews but turns out, the correlation is non existent.

There is a franchise called ‘Banh Mi Boys’ in Toronto that serves ridiculously expensive Banh Mi at 8$, but there are others one that sell for around this price point, for comparison, at 3-4$. Mississauga Chinatown has some good banh mi, particularly a man that makes his own baguettes and uses a delicious sauce that I have yet to discover what it is.

This is being brought up because at $3.50 in Ottawa, I hope this isn’t the best Banh Mi that the capital has to offer.

It was a terrible purchase experience here. The owners were rude especially the female one. If you don’t know Vietnamese, wish you have good luck there are other customers translating for you. Wish they know what is politeness one day.

Go in, ask for the special. It's an assorted sub on crusty French bread and it's absolutely delicious.

Really good submarines. I usually get the spicy ones. However the portion is not as much as what previous owners gave.

Absolutely rude and unpleasant to deal with. They are only nice if you are Vietnamese. They don’t tell you how long you are expected to wait nor did they acknowledge your order at all. After a good 15 minutes of waiting not knowing if your order has been taken in or not, you finally ask them and they respond in the most offensive way ever. My kids tell me to not go back again and that’s exactly what I intend to do. They don’t care for your business anyway.

The tofu banh mi from my hang is probably the best thing I've eaten in Ottawa, and definitely the best thing I've eaten for only $3.25. The sandwiches here are consistently great and the service is fast.
