I tried both the Bossam set and the gyoza. The gyoza was wonderfully steamed, with a juicy filling that made it very enjoyable. At $12.99 for six pieces, it was reasonably priced.
However, the Bossam set, priced at $22.99, left me a bit underwhelmed. It included 10 small slices of meat and a small bowl of Kalguksu, I anticipated a more substantial portion for the price. The quantity of meat was rather limited, and the noodle bowl, part of the set, felt small and tasted average at best.
While I found the Bossam set a bit lacking in value for its cost, I would maybe return for the gyoza. The kimchi is also delicious here!
It tasted good with plenty of ingredients, and the service from the staff was excellent. I was disappointed that I couldn't try kimchi dumplings because they said they weren't available on weekdays.
I was aimlessly scrolling Instagram food posts last night when I stumbled on this spot. The food- especially the dumplings/gyoza- looked fantastic, and I was certain it'd be somewhere far, far, away. To my very pleasant surprise, it turned out the restaurant was just 2km from my home! Needless to say, "dinner tomorrow = sorted! ". And wow, I just finished my meal, and immediately had to hop on and fire off a review, it was just THAT impressive. I'm just one person, but decided to get two dishes; the Bossam set, and the Gyoza. Both were absolutely bursting with flavour, and clearly utilize quality, fresh, ingredients. I seriously don't think I've ever had a better dumpling-style dish from any of the countless dumpling-style dishes around the globe. These are absolutely massive, and one order could quite safely fill up two people. But I just can't get over the incredible flavour and overall quality. And the Bossam set.everything just comes together so flawlessly; the perfect marriage of deep flavours and textures. The kimchi might actually be the best I've had at any Korean restaurant, and the soup that accompanies was excellent- a contrast to everything else, in that the broth was more subdued in flavour, yet at the same time "deep" if that makes sense- I'd almost call it refreshing if it weren't for the (superlative) noodles. My order was takeaway, but I did experience the warmth and kindness of the waitress I dealt with- she was fantastic in our brief interaction. Needless to say, I am so thrilled to discover this new-to-me gem, quite literally right around the corner from where I live. Korean is one of my favourite cuisines, and maybe I don't know the best spots, but I've just been so disappointed by so many of them, whether downtown or here, uptown- I'm so glad to find one that really delivers at a high level. I cannot wait for my next visit, and will surely introduce several friends. So nice when you find a hidden treasure like this right under your nose! What a quality flavour-bomb of a restaurant!
Great place if you're looking for a hearty, spicy Korean meal. King sized steamed gyoza is a must try, and the spicy pork or beef bulgogi meal sets are also great value and are very tasty and spicy. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the restaurant is well lit, clean and nice looking. Would definitely return for the NewJeans they played for their music choice.
As a korean who loves korean food, this is my go-to place for dumplings! Their kalguksu is delicious as well as their bossam, would love to try out their entire menu!
My friends and I got Kalguksu and gyoza. The soup was nice and light but still very flavourful. I would like more ground pork to be honest as there was only about a tablespoon. The gyoza were the biggest dumplings ive ever seen in my life. They had nice thin skin and juicy filling. The kimchi was also very well made!
Saw this place on tiktok and I thought I had to try it. Ordered the kalguksu and dumplings to share. It was a light warming meal perfect for the cold weather. The dumplings were huge and reminded me of my moms homemade dumplings. Perfect authentic place to try kalguksu. The portions were pretty big. There is limited parking so I would keep that in mind.
Personally recommend the kalguksu and dumplings as it is their specialty. The set menus with meats are a bit pricier, I would just stick with the noodles and dumplings. The kimchi is also on the spicier side.
The food is amazing. Recommend this place to everyone. The staffs are super friendly and helpful too. Please come try it yourself. Be careful if you’re not too good with handling spicy food
I am Vietnamese and I prefer Myeongdong Gypza Kakguksu over all the pho restaurants in Canada. Everything is made in house including their noodles, dumplings, beef broth, and kimchi.
I got their Kalguksu. I had to wait awhile because everything is made from scratch. The beef broth is so beefy and flavourful. Unlike pho broth, there is no MSG or artificial flavourings. I wish it came with 3 dumplings because they were so good. I didn’t want to stop eating, because everything about the kalguksu is perfect. If the food came with kkakdugi, I would give them 6 stars lol
THE BEST Kalguksu in GTA hands down! I've tried them all and this location is simply the best. Noodles are fresh, made every day. Broth is unparalleled. Kimchi is perfect. Dumplings are excellent. This place is better than other locations. Simply the best!
Come here for the mandu or noodles. They are excellent. They give generous amounts of side dishes.
Ordered some other meat dishes $40+ and $20+ and the portions we received were surprisingly small. I will never order it again knowing it is that small. Not worth the price.
The bossam set comes with a small bowl of kalguksu noodles and a small portion of steamed pork belly with lettuce - a great way to try both items in a smaller portion. It’s simple yet delicious. The steamed dumplings are huge and good too. Would go back again whenever I want something simple and not too heavy.
Delicious food! The kong guksu was super creamy and refreshing, and the noodles had a fantastic chewy texture.the kimchi was full of flavor and unlimited too!) the staff were kind and the atmosphere was quite chill.i would go again ️
It’s a bit away from all the Korean restaurants but I promise you that the MANDOO is delicious. Though the MANDOO is either steamed or in a soup, the MANDOO here is handmade at there location.
The tastes of the dishes are one thing, but the service of the staffs are on top. They were extremely friendly and accommodating, we were constantly impressed. I really liked their teokboki!
Cozy yet spacious. Authentic Korean dishes with amazing kimchee. Love the fact their menu doesn't resemble a phone book. Less is more to me. Well-done!
The restaurant is amazing, it reminds me Korea every time. I go there once a week maybe haha. Thank you so much for serving great food. You guys are amazing
Amazing Korean restaurant. The food quality is amazing. Better than a lot of other places on Yonge Street. Their signature dish the giant dumplings is a must try. Will definitely come back again.
Need this on my life more often! This has got to be the most flavourful kalguksu I've had (but I haven't had much, to be honest)! The place is spacious, the wait staff are friendly, the food is superb. Can you please open a location downtown? !? !
Staff were totally rude and they only have 2 high chairs. We weren't allowed to bring in our stroller either when they didn't have enough high chairs. Food was not bad but portions are rather small.
Food was okay for noodle and dumpling but I saw portion of some noodle combo menus. That was not worth it to pay that extra money for it. The meet portion was really small. Also, the service was bad. I mean horrible. Server was looks like the owner. And she was yelling to the peopele in the kitchen. And she was rude. When she serve the food, she just left the food on the table without say anything. Asked cold water but didn't give to me until I asked again (we was serving and take order from other table for more than 10 mins until I ask again). We had to grab the napkins because she didn't give anything after spill water on the table even she saw it. When we left, she didn't say a word even she was right on my table to clean. Just for the noodle and dumpling, I don't mind the food but will never go back just because of the owner service and unprofessinality. We were so uncomfortable to seat and eat since she was yelling to kitchen. And never smile to customers. I'm so regret that I gave her okay tips.
Had good noodles. Enjoyed the plain flavour more than the spicy (you need to ask for the topping to not be mixed in). Found the spicy rice cake to be over priced for what you get.
