I took my 2006 Jetta in on January 17 to get some misfires and an oil leak diagnosed. Guys ended up telling me my car was essentially totalled as I would need a new engine. They told me they found some of my spark plugs covered in oil as somehow oil was getting into the combustion chamber and that they weren’t sure for how much longer the car would run for and that i’d be better of scrapping it than paying thousands upon thousands for a new engine. Of course I believed them until I got one of my buddies who did mechanical work to take a look. He pulled the spark plugs and showed me it was simply fouled from excess fuel, not a speck of oil on any plug.changed out all the plugs and the car runs great. My car is tuned with some modifications so it makes sense why it was running a bit rich but what I can’t understand is why these so called mechanics tried to have me scrap my car. Not only did they blatantly lie but they never even found the leak that I had paid them to find. It’s been 2 months and the car still runs great no misfires nothing. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE.
