My engine light of my VW Passat came on and I took it into Don Valley Volkswagen dealership and was informed diagnostics results on the engine light "requires decarb 7 hrs. Recommend fuel service to clean and remove contamination and debris from system. " COST: $1367 + $200 Diagnostics + HST.

At that cost I took the car to another shop, RoadRunner Auto Repair Centre - Class A mechanics, for an estimate. Diagnostics indicated - Misfire CYL 4 - (4) spark plugs and an ignition coil for a total cost of $400 + HST. The engine light is off and the car is running well.

When I asked Joe about the engine carb he advised, given the Don Valley VW diagnostics, the mechanics found ZERO carbon in my engine and ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT require a costly engine decarb. Joe says he sees this all the time and that what was really wrong with the car - spark plugs - were not on the Don Valley VW repair list.

This place put on a lug nut too tightly, which resulted in damage to my wheel hub. Also cancelled an appointment to fix my ac, which is why I had already found a new mechanic, who fixed it for a better price.

Was set up to get the car's ac fixed, and they waited til the eve before and called a coworker (the customer'sworkplace is also a customer), not the customer, to say they'd be too busy to fix the car. Hello? Lost a customer.

These people are great and give good advice. They just saved me $1,600 on some work I didn't have to have done. They are also a maintenance supplier for Addison Leasing of Canada Ltd.for their maintenance program so they must be good!

Joe was referred to me by one of my colleagues and its the first time I have taken my car to a mechanic's shop for maintenance. They are super busy and I was a bit hesitant just leaving the car there.with only a couple of grunts from Joe. Just a call or two after to discuss options and the work was done perfectly with care and detail when I picked it up the next day. Absolutely reasonable price and honest operation.
Will for sure go back for the next repair.
