Great service, really nice veterinarian! But it took some time to get our invoice and leave on a weekend afternoon because they were very busy. I made sure to book appointments earlier in the morning from then on.
Very friendly and professional service, my dog loves going because he’s treated so well by both staff and other customers. Have been going for almost 2 years, they’re pretty good about seeing us on short notice when necessary and have not tried to upsell or push unnecessary services.
Good front desk service only. I disliked that they took my kitten to a separate room to treat her, I asked if i can go they said no you cant. Secs later, my kitten was screaming aggressively and i was worried. Regardless of how ethical you will treat my pet, or anyone’s pet, it looks a bit suspicious no matter what rational reason you can come up with.
Also, the vet they have I don’t recommend at all. Instead of trying to give a professional consultation and chat about my kitten’s health and vaccination. He looked like threatening me almost with his voice tone.
I couldn't believe how comfortable they were with wasting my time. And I wasn't the only one there in the same situation. Someone else waited at least 25 min to simply pay the $130 consultation fee. Disorganized staff and the actual hospital was filthy.
Great Animal Hospital for our cat Matt. Everyone is quite nice here and very aware of the COVID protocols. I had to call when I got there to let them know and they came out minutes later. The vet called me a few minutes later and then Matt was brought back outside to my car to me. I would recommend thus Animal Hospital to anyone in the area.
I have had many experiences here through our foster days. They are wonderful. The dogs we've brought here LOVE going. The staff is welcoming and kind.:)
An Amazing group of Doctors and Technicians and staff! I'm so glad I found this Loving Animal hospital!? Definitely I would recommend them whole heartedly!
I made an appoitment for my pet I arrived on time even before, and I am still have to wait for at least 40 minutes, and see many other persons arriving after me, get attended first, no respect for the client' s time
Unfortunately this veterinarian clinic has gone downhill. They are unable to make room for their own patients and unable to keep their current patients appointments in order. I am deeply upset of how I’ve been treated as an animal owner, I have been going to this veterinarian clinic for over 16 years and I have never been treated so unfairly as a pet owner and I have not heard yet from the manager even though I have asked to speak with one for the last two months.
Clinic did not meet the absolute minimum standard of care for a surgical client - surgeons are responsible for obtaining informed procedural and anaesthetic consent, period. My cat had a procedure under GA booked with Dr. Edgley for two months. In the weeks leading up to it, I received zero pre-op instructions. At morning drop off I signed a consent form that stated I had been briefed on the procedure/anaesthesia, but told the vet tech I had not yet spoken to anyone regarding the procedure or risks based on lump location, and that I expected to. She reassured me, saying they'd do bloodwork and the surgeon would examine him prior to calling me later that morning. No one did. After my cat was in their care for 7 hours, I called at 3 pm - he had received a pre-med and was about to be taken in. I asked the senior vet tech if it was standard practice that they don't call prior to sedating, intubating, and cutting open a pet without their owner being spoken to about it; she said they don't call on the day of, they just "assume" they've been spoken to in the past.despite me telling a tech VERY clearly that morning of the contrary, they were going to proceed anyways. I went and picked up my cat before they operated and we will go to a clinic that can communicate safely and responsibly. You would never non-urgently operate on a human without consent, why would you on someone's beloved pet?
It's unfortunate as we were excited to have Dr. Jones as our regular vet and her (and the clinic) came highly recommended by a friend.
We've only gone to put down our rodents but they were very well equipped to handle these situations. Dr Jones will be our go-to from now on. Update: we've gone here a few times now for our sick rats and to put down another. The staff is ready to help despite being busy and again, Dr Jones is The Go-To Vetenarian that you should use. For use, we need to uber to get their either of their clinics but it's been worth it every time. Even today, they were slightly late, but there was no rush, and she was thorough, and let me list off my questions I had and had provided med refills without batting an eye. You just can't beat this overall service.
While I wasn't here for a happy occasion (RIP Ojo), I am glad to have found a new animal hospital for when I adopt a new cat. Everyone was compassionate and understanding, and my sweet 18.3 yr old Ojo was treated with kindness. They agreed there was no need for a full exam, when she wasn't going to be treated. She was offered treats, as many as she wanted. She ate one. I've already referred a neighbor here. I was at another animal hospital for 28 years, and will be coming here with future pets and bringing more neighbors with me.
A trip to the vet is extremely stressful for my pup and Dr. Jones and the rest of the staff couldn't have been more wonderful. Dr. Jones was patient, compassionate and truly knowledgeable about canine behaviour.
Great experience at this animal hospital. My rabbit was neutered here and they answered and followed up on all my questions. Very friendly and professional!
I've been bringing my pets to the hospital almost since the year they were open. They have always taken great care of our dogs (and us as well). I am truly grateful for all the professional service we have received over the years. They have helped me care for 6 of my 9 dogs from puppy to crossing over to Rainbow Bridge. Great team, great people.
Dont go here for emergencies! They will refuse Walk-in Clients who dont have a prior appt. My Puppy (who is a patient there) was convulsing and unconscious in my car, the ladies at the front wouldnt accept me and told me to go a different place as they do not help dogs who are about to die! Not her exact words but thats how i left feeling. Thankfully i rushed to Kanata Highlands Vet - who were very happy to drop everything to put my puppy on an IV. Jan 25th
The staff are really friendly and take great care or our 2 miniature daschund's, they keep expanding the practice and their hours are very flexible to meet everyone's needs
Technical staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. The veterinarian was lovely, and Maude was treated with a lot of kindness. Very happy with the service.
UPDATE: They reached out and immediately scheduled another examination for my cats with Dr. Katie Jones. You can tell she genuinely cares about the wellbeing of her patients as she goes ABOVE AND BEYOND by carefully explaining everything while thoroughly observing them. She was especially tactful with my agressive cat.
We will definitely be staying under Dr. Katie Jones' care:)
- While the rest of the staff was pleasant, my experience with Dr. Robert was extremely disappointing.
I read the amazing reviews and brought my two cats here for their routine annual exam and vaccinations. Granted my older cat is aggressive because the smell of other animals in clinics stress him out, he was barely examined despite the vet tech and I being able to properly hold him down. He was weighed and given his vaccine but the vet failed to take his temperature or examine him at all (despite charging for an exam). This was very concerning because my cat suffers from gingivitis and feline acne but the vet did not notice/care until I insisted he look at it.
Then he went on a tangent about how my cats are overweight (they have a larger build but are not overweight) and blamed me for feeding them the wrong cat food. He also guilted me about letting my cats roam in my securely fenced backyard where they cannot escape. I don’t mind suggestions/recommendations from professionals, but I draw the line at forcing their opinions on others.
I will definitely not be returning to Dr. Robert, but I hope to be transferred to another vet at this clinic because it seems he’s just an anomaly.
We came here on January 27th, this was our very first visit, I'm so happy they took great care of my little puppy Gus, even though they didn't let me in the room, they called from the next room over and gave me information about my options (no added pressure either) and asked if I had questions - the DR answered everything before I could even ask so it was a very easy experience. The Ladies at reception were wonderful too. At the end of the visit we waited for our invoice (which was affordable) and it was a sweet little adventure meeting the happy little pets and owners waiting. Thank you!
Affordable care for my puppy which tells me they really want to make animal health care accessible to pets.super professional and they offer a very warm welcome highly recommend:)
I would like to thank Dr. Luke de Freitas for being a caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable veterinarian. His diagnosis skills are excellent and he cares deeply about his patients. He extends his care by calling and sharing any test results and answer any relevant questions.
Also, special thanks to all the support staff and technicians. They are so professional, compassionate, knowledgeable and responsive. They care about their patients and for that, I am very grateful.
I highly recommend Nepean Animal Hospital. They are the BEST.
Our 19 year old cat couldn't get up today, time for the big sleep. Called these guys and they couldn't take her till 9 hours later. Then I started crying and said we couldn't watch her suffer that long and after a brief hold they took us right away! Can't express how helpful, compassionate and reliable they were.
Wonderful experience! Dr. Luke de Freitas was very compassionate and knowledgeable. He did a great job explaining what was wrong with our dog and answered any questions we had. Dr. De Freitas provided us with many care options and wasn't at all pushing a treatment. This was incomparably better than our previous vet experience. The front desk staff were also very friendly and easy to book an appointment with. We couldn't be happier about transferring to this clinic.
The team of Doctors and technicians here are so caring, this was my first experience here. My dog is 10 years old and she felt comfortable and loved by everyone who interacted with her - I would recommend them to anyone looking for a vet.
I would give negative 5 stars if I can. The doctor (Dr. Robert) behaved very unprofessionally and not friendly at all. Visited with my cat and enter a room about 5 mins costed me 98 dollars. Avoid this hospital if you can.
If there is a greater group of professional and amazing people that would go out of there way to help you, I don't know where you would find them. They are always friendly and ready to accommodate even the smallest of requests. They are empathetic to your needs even when your concerns are small to many but big for you. They always manage to take care of my baby no matter what she needs. I couldn't imagine anyone giving them anything less than 5 stars. A special thank you to Terry (not sure if you spell it that way) for always putting a smile on my face even over the phone. Your entire team ROCKS! Thank you from Bill and Lily!
Absolutely wonderful and caring staff that take the time to truly listen and inform their clients. I've seen various vets in different contexts (as a pet owner, through working at a kennel, and as a foster for a rescue), and I make the effort to go out of my way to bring my pets here. Highly recommend!
Great service from making an appointment over the phone, right to the end of having received the service for my animal. On your first visit, they take a picture and make a special commemoration and email it to you (see attached photo). Given that I started going there during the pandemic, when service was curbside, it was great. They come to your car to get your animal, bring them in, perform the service and bring them back out. I usually ask for estimates of the services before an appointment and though there’s been some variation, it’s been less than 5% variance. You get the feeling there that they actually really love animals there and I feel good about taking my little guy there.
This vet really took the time with my shy and skittish dog, and let me come into the appointment for his well being. I appreciate all the staffs knowledge of their products and clients. Worth the wait
Open long hours (not 9-5 like many places) and always get you in as soon as they can. They also do urgent care throughout the week and don’t charge emergency fees and other high fees that emergency hospitals do.
Friendly staff who are clearly happy to greet our pets. Their compassion and patience make the sometimes stressful experience of going at the vet reassuring. I have often recommended them and will continue to do so.
I have been a client of Nepean and Chapman Mills Animal Hospitals for over 20 years with my own adopted cats and more recently in the past five years with my multitudes of foster cats from Ottawa stray Cat rescue. I am a regular at both clinics, usually at one or both several times a week with my frequent flyer, high needs adopted & foster cats (see photos). I have nothing but good to say about the care received and the professionalism demonstrated. Despite the many challenges of Covid restrictions and lockdowns both NAH & CMAH have continued to provide exceptional care and support to not only Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue but also at least 2 other animal rescues (that I know of). I highly recommend Dr Katherine Jones and her dedicated team of Veterinary professionals. Thank you for all you do.
I've taken several cats to this clinic during my time as a foster for Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue. The clinic had a hard time during the beginning stages of COVID, as did every other vet, but still managed to find time for rescues in need among their regular patients. The staff are always so friendly and happy to help. I know that dealing with rescues can sometimes be a difficult experience because of fear, lack of socialization etc.but I've never once had a staff member complain about that, or treat me any differently than someone bringing their own pet to the clinic. Their COVID protocols have been quite strict which I appreciate. Thank you for continuing to do your best during this tough time.
The attentiveness, friendliness and knowledge from staff at both locations (Nepean and Chapman Mills) is beyond exceptional. I am grateful each time that I leave an appointment. The reception and vet tech staff are courteous and so pleasant to speak with. The veterinarians are knowledgeable and so caring. Thank you for all that you do!
My cat Caret needed a number of her teeth removed. The staff at Nepean worked with me to schedule a time for her to get this surgery. They had a cancellation and called me in early. After the surgery, they checked back in to see how she was doing. The staff is so compassionate, professional and responsive. They care about what they do and it shows. I would recommend Nepean to anyone!
A really great team of people who care so much about what they do. The staff treat try very hard. It is so unfortunate when people have to give negative feedback online without going through management. So I would like to just put the word out that they are friendly, compassionate, and very attentive to every pet's needs. They cry with you, they celebrate with you, and they have hope every day that they can help.
The staff has always been very kind and accommodating. I've always enjoyed my interactions with the ladies at the desk. Ive failed to leave reviews in the past and I have since forgotten the names of who have helped me, but I dealt with Jewels yesterday and she was awesome. Very kind and warm and welcoming. My sick cat escaped an hour before our appointment the other day. It was really brutal timing, especially for his first time outside in his 14 year life. And I had to call last minute to cancel and everyone was so sweet and kind to me. It was the last appointment for the night and I know that it's gotta be frustrating for the last appointment to cancel at the last minute.but they were really nice and caring. The following day we got our cat back and booked another appointment. We saw Katie Jones. She's such a beauty. She's fun and super knowledgeable. She answers questions so quick and well, it's very clear that she's amazing at what she does. And she's really funny. And she talks fast too which I like. Sounds weird but I have a hard time with people dragging on and I really like how she communicates. Anyway, all this to say that I really like this vet. I've taken pets to other places in the past and I'm not gonna do that again. This place is great and professional and I know that they all genuinely care about my animals. 10/10 would recommend.
A really wonderful vet clinic, never had a bad experience, very caring and compassionate doctors there. Dr. Jones is my favourite vet for my fur kids to see, she really listens and wants to keep it as simple as possible for the pets. Highly recommend! Thank you for being such a wonderful clinic!
Well, we love it! 5 out of 5! Okay maybe we're a bit biased because we adopted a cat from Doctor Katie's rescue which has turned out to be a real charmer. But the fact stands she is a great vet! Patient and kind and knowledgeable. And the staff work right along that standard. Thank you to all of you!
Nepean and Chapman animal hospital have been by far the kindest, most caring places I've ever been to. It's not about the money for them, they want to do what they can to help our little fur children. I've had so many devastating experiences with my fur babies and they have been so kind, understanding and considerate of the situations that randomly occur. They are very busy, as many people love and trust these animal hospitals, yet in the state of an emergency they'll try to help if they can. I've had the pleasure of seeing two of the vets at the clinic. They have been more than wonderful and I can't thank them enough for their kindness and care of my little fur children.
Asked to push back appointment by 1 hour. Still started appointment 30 minutes late. Vet and assistant both said that their records showed (and they said they double checked) that my cat didn't need any shots. I had to insist and show them my adoption contract with the vaccination schedule and they needed to triple check before admitting that she did need vaccinations. They also pushed expensive cat food that the vet assured me would work with my automatic feeder, it doesn't. All in all it was a very disappointing first veterinarian experience and I will not be returning.
