Our family has been shopping here for over a decade. Luigi in the paint department is the best. It always feels like you’re shopping at a family run business.

Been going here for years. They know their stuff. They know me by name.

Better place the home depot etc.

One of the most poorly designed parking lots in the city, and staff who are knowledgeable if you can get their attention. At least it's handy.

Not the most helpful staff over the phone, wasn't willing to help when I asked if they carried a certain product.

We have had the privilege of working with the great people at New Canadian Lumber for 40 years. They have helped us build and renovate numerous homes around the GTA and are always killing themselves to keep their word on price, delivery, service and product knowledge. In particular Patricia in contractor sales stands out as the most 'pro' sales person across all stores we deal with. We salute you, Pat, and your whole team at New Canadians (or as my team calls them, 'Nukes'!)

Ordered a window for a bathroom reno, gave them brick to brick measurements, and they ordered the exact measurements brick to brick, not leaving a 1/2 inch around for it to fit, so it didn't fit, and the project is now postponed because until the window can be ordered. I should have double checked their work, but I assumed they know how to order a window. Didn't have this problem at home depot ordering two windows and the first time I order from here they mess it up. They don't pick up the phone either so I had to drive there just to complain.

My fourth time visiting here, it's a truly agony to get someone to anwer a simple question or explain anything: I do not know, that is the answer i received.
Also most workers go out for lunch at the same time which made three customers including me wait at the front desk for several minutes until finally a very helpful girl took care of us.
I think i will not return here again.

Good place, they have most of what you'll need, pro or not, but I wouldn't count on anything too specialised. They're usually a bit understaffed, or they're just too busy for the space, so it can get crowded. One thing, I phoned to check stock for something and was told they had it. They did not and I had to go elsewhere. They don't order everything through Home Hardware, so the website is not always helpful.

Slow service.
Hard to navigate due to items spread out across multiple buildings.
The quality of some of the products is poor compared to the competition.
The only reason I go here is because it's close to my house.

Poor customer service from instore to yard. Only good guy was one at the gate. Product selection good thou.

Literally everyone that works here has an attitude and is extremely rude anytime I come or anyone I know has the same experience. You can’t ask a simple question, “where can I find this? ”

Great local place to get what you need for your house, lumber yard is always well stocked and supplies are good quality

Atrocious communication, both over the phone and in person. Encountered at least three rude and super abrupt staff in the space of 15mins. I felt like I was a nuisance to them. Maybe I got them on a bad day.

Shopped here for years no real issues. The covid mask wearing restrictions are a bit much. Exemption must be granted to those that require one. I have done my reasearch and they are completely in the wrong. Next time this happens i will be taking direct course of action starting with a human right violation.

In a city nearly crippled by lockdown, this is at least one place that I can order something and actually get it on the same day. They have always understood customer service.

I have been going to New canadians for a long time. I'm a tile setter. Their tile staff are knowledgeable and kind. They have most of what is needed for regular jobs. Can't say enough good stuff.

I was really glad that I turned to New Canadian when Home Depot didn't have what I needed and staff wasn't terribly helpful in determining that.
I went in to New Canadian and Mason helped me find two glass door inserts. Jim called me later to confirm they were in stock and I could pick up the same day. Thanks! New Canadian will be my first stop for any home improvement related products even though HD is in walking distance of my home.

Should teach your drivers how to drive safely. Swinging across two lanes of live traffic and then stopping in the live lane of highway 7 and Vaughan valley, because he missed his turn is unsafe and stupid. Young kid driving shouldn't be driving if he doesn't know how to drive safely.

Why would anyone go to a "Big Box" store when you can deal with staff that know their stuff like here?

The pace is a labyrinth, I came here to buy local but the price they gave me is to high (20% more in paint) the service is bad in general person who attend don’t care about clients, I strongly not recommended.

Unfortunately most of the staff was unaware of how to process our transaction using a Native Status Card.
But in the end it worked out

They're not selling windows, they're just taking money and delaying.

We ordered windows from New Canadians in late July, and were told they would be ready in 2-3 weeks. That timeline worked for us as we were aiming to install them in time to and rent the space by September 1st. We were explicit about the timeline and potential loss of rent at the time we ordered. We paid half of the total as an advanced deposit.

After 2 weeks we checked in and were told that they would be ready in another 2-3weeks. We expressed concern and explained that each day after September 1st would cost us money. They said it was a COVID related delay.

After Sept 1 passed we called and were told that they could confirm that the windows would be done, not in another two weeks, but by the 18th. We stressed again that every single day after Sept 1 is costing us, making the windows far more expensive for us than what we were paying for the windows themselves.

At this point, we're 7.5 weeks out from the initial order date and looking at another month of lost rent for October. We call today, the day that we received explicit confirmation that the windows would be done. And you guessed it. They assured us that they would be done in 2-3 weeks.

So we're thousands of dollars down the drain in lost rent and it turns out that they haven't even started to manufacture them.

They kept blaming COVID but we were all well aware of COVID by late July. Manufacturers should know how to adjust their estimates by now. If we're more than a month and a half out from the order date and they haven't started to make the windows I can only assume that they're not making windows at this time.

They fought us on getting a refund and didn't even offer so much as a gift certificate or store credit to make up for the losses we've incurred. Which is sad, because we've always liked them for having quality products and informed staff that seem to care about their work. It's why we went to them in the first place. We thought we could trust them.

DO NOT ORDER WINDOWS FROM NEW CANADIANS. They may still be selling them, but they aren't making them.

I needed a short piece of 2x4. They found a piece and let me have it at no charge. Nice people.

Lots of variety - especially if you need materials for older homes. Good staff. Old school hardware store and lumber yard.

Convenient, particularly the lumber yard as there are not many options for lumber in this area if town. However, I only shop here for convenience and when I’m out of other options due to the poor customer service. Condescending employees seem bothered with requests for help, and it’s not uncommon to hear the cashiers gossiping about personal issues.

Wowza! They got it all from suspenders to sealants to silicone. Staff are engaging and love to converse. Store is well organized and easy to navigate.

Just went there to pickup some wood panels service was okay, was easy to find what I wanted, not as overwhelming as some of the big box retailers can be

I believe in second chances, and sadly it was a terrible experience second time around I tried to give them my business. Staff do not seem to care much about serving customers. No product knowledge in the paint department. Wasted my time driving here after being told a particular wheelbarrow was in stock, only to be explained by a sales guy that "we just say 'ya, ya' on the phone because people don't show up anyways. "

It a nice place In the middle of your city where you can get most anything i usually get lumber or plywood from here i find stock is good. If you need help they have a contractor's desk that can help you with what your looking for.

This store is in my neighborhood, we came to get so many supplies for building up and fixing things. The staffs alway be friendly and very helpful.

Unfortunately I had called for a 32x80 left hand 3/4 hour fire rated door and knock down steel frame.they said it was an in-stock item.said they verified and had it. When I drove their to pick it up- they did not have it: (Luckily I needed to by other items.

I came to buy some materials for a project and the employees were incredibly helpful giving advice on the project. The prices were less expensive than even home depot for the materials we needed.

I went to new Canadians lumber on Friday May 3. I wanted to purchase 2 shower systems from a gentleman working there his name is Patrick works in kitchen and bath department.i went down by bus and did not realize how heavy these units were. Not only did he provide the best service and knowledge about product but he went out of his way he personally delivered and drove me home after his shift. All I can say is thank you for taking time to do that for me we will definitely keep coming to new Canadians lumber. Unbelievable service that’s so much Patrick

Staff is never friendly or particularly helpful. Always make you feel like you're inconveniencing them by asking a question.

I went in royally screwed because a bunch of keys were wedged together and stuck in the keychain. None of my roommates could fix it. The thing is that I needed the keys for a job I started the following day. This really kind man, Julio, was able to fix the problem instantly and didn't even charge me anything. Everyone was super kind and attentive and nobody even laughed at me (they should have, who gets their keys stuck like that)

Pretty good store overall, great selection of building materials. You’ll even find somethings you can’t find at the big box stores. Service is a bit of a hit and miss. Sometimes they are not overly helpful but if you push a bit they will help you out or find someone else who will help. It’s one of the larger home hardware stores in the area so it’s probably the best chance of one stop shopping you will have for renovation projects.

They have a large selection of cedar and pressure treated lumber even into the winter when the big box stores stop stocking some of their materials.

The store is a bit chaotic but they do have their system once you’ve been there a few times.

I shop here often and would recommend others to go.

The two main complaints I have are:
1) the one way lumber pickup, even if you want a sheet of plywood you have to lineup and drive through the entire lumber yard, which is sometimes backed up with other pickups currently happening.
2) the parking situation can sometimes be crazy with people who don’t know how to drive combined with the one way traffic.
