Surprised by their portion! Also comes with a drink and soup. Food was great as well! Strongly recommend!

We like the food here but have only ordered for take out. It’s hit or miss because the curry beef brisket we ordered yesterday was all potato’s and onions only! Disappointed for sure.

This is one of those famous hk style cafe that people love and keep going back to. If you aren't sure about this place, think of it as a golden nugget of HK style cusine.

Always my favorite place for Hong Kong Baked Tomato Pork Rice (fried rice). Amazing food and hong kong milk tea.

Came for breakfast over the weekend and they fill up fast. Note that some of the breakfast items say bread rather than toast and it's literally cold sliced bread. Extra charge for it to be toasted.

Their HK style coffee are always good, price is reasonably, I like their stir fried changzie noodle with shredded pork very much, not much place has it.

Haven't stopped by since COVID and this place is as busy as ever. Wait times approached 15 min before a table is available, but for a good reason.
Despite the increase in prices due to inflation, the portions remain good as is the quality. While the staff is busy, response to timely and quick.

Everyday I'm shuffling! After a 24hr power outage due to a chaotic storm, we were itching for hot comfort food. This led us from one city to another, landing us at New City Restaurant. This HK cafe was packed with diners inside. Always a good sign, and we lucked straight into a 2-person corner spot.
A myriad of menu cards flashed across our eyes. I landed on the Garoupa Cutlet on Rice. Prior to the dish, we received the sweet & sour Russian borscht soup, a classic of such cafes. In a pleasant surprise, milk tea arrived in the esteemed KamCha cups. The fried fish cutlets arrived in a thick katsu batter accompanied by a bowl of black pepper sauce. This fulsome meal warmed the soul on the chilly day.
The aptly named Bowl of Noodle caught my wife's eyes. Despite the plain description, it included everything from the chef's pantry (beef ball, fish ball, squid ball, fish slice, beef tendon & brisket, Chinese sausage, & wontons). The simple rice noodle soup tasted balanced with no complaints. It came with, and the dish was literally, her usual cup of tea.
Update: we’ve now also tried the Hot Plate Top Sirloin Steak with black pepper sauce. It’s quite a massive plate with a sizzle and fries, cabbage & carrot underneath. The medium rare was slightly uneven. Baked Steak & Pork Chop w/ Tomato Sauce on top of spaghetti was creamy and came in a huge portion as well.
New City Restaurant has old school flair. It was literally the busiest spot among the many food options at New Kennedy Square. Staff buzzed around at a hectic pace as patrons came & went. Fast food came streaming out of the kitchen. Along with an affordable menu, the friendly service is a nice hallmark of here.

This was definitely my go to hk café. The food is decently priced and was amazing. However the passed 3 times I have gone have been pretty disappointing. I dont know if they changed the chef or are just using different ingredients but the quality has gone downhill. The staff are still very friendly and attentive and this place is so nostalgic so I will keep coming back. Hopefully at some point the food will get better again.
