We are originally are from Montreal and moved to ottawa recently. We were under the impression that ottawa has no good restaurants until we tried NEXT. Michelline star food was served on the Sunday brunch menu we tried. They respected our dietary restrictions. Good food with good hostess (Annabella) elevated the experience. We will be regulars here.

Don't take my word for it. Go and try. No regrets. If a chef gives you cassoulet with the main course and your blown away, then you know it was worth it.

Tried the tasting menu. Was not interesting except for the duck. There was an hour long gap between course 3 and 4 even after reminding them twice.

Ok Michael …what an evening! You are not getting older…you are definitely getter better! We had the ‘surprise tasting menu’ (we just couldn’t decide which delightful dishes to choose) Every dish was a taste treat: fresh flavours, interesting textures, spices and preparations …oh my! Sorry -not sorry- we closed the place, we just couldn’t stop nibbling at all the delights.

More than awesome! We had their Easter dinner and it was perfection from start to finish. Without a doubt there was a lot of effort put forth by Chef Blackie and his talented team. The instructional video was easy to follow along with and added to the enjoyment. Everything was so well organized. Each course was delicious! It was more than just a dinner, it was an experience. I just can't say enough about it. Every aspect was perfect, starting from the delicious cocktails to the to die for dessert. Bonus, the dinner was delivered to us at no extra charge. I look forward to enjoying more of NeXt's at home dinners. Simply marvelous!

All in all it was a nice experience, but we most likely won't be back for dinner.
1.) The staff are very friendly and great at what they do.
2.) Only go there is you want a twist on typical food.
We might have gone in with higher expectations than most. They take your temperature once you walk in and the seats are a good distance apart for covid measures.
They seemed a little understaffed, if they asked if we wanted another drink, we would have taken one but our waiter had at least 5 other tables at the same time. Completely understandable during these times, and as mentioned before we were happy with the overall service.
The food however was intentionally (yes, I asked) either cold, not fully cooked, covered in sauce or had a twist of something sweet. The one item that was cooked perfectly was their beef ribeye, but it was drowning in a very sweet sauce. We tried a total of 5 dishes and all of them were not really to our liking, but that is not to say other people won't love them. I have never had a creme brulee I didn't like and there was just something off with their double torched ginger creme brulee.
Our impression is that they are trying to put a twist on normal dishes and some of them are a hit or a miss.
We heard that their brunches are expectational and might be back for that but will most likely go somewhere else for dinners.
