I will never use this location again to euthanize a pet. They do not permit you to enter the room and remain with your pet while they are passing. This tore me apart. It was a cold way to let my cat go, no compassion and cruel. I am the only person he knew all his life. Had I known this beforehand, I would never gone there. Very disappointed.
Brought a healthy cat in for spade 27 march surgery, on march 30 emergency vet vesit and being told your pet has an upper respiratory infection. Now, she's dead less than a week due to bacteria, which led to a compromised immune system
Unprofessional staff, the incident in hand should have been taken care of due to the extreme weather we had and what was explained to them unfortunately because of their lack of listening and self entitled arrogance an animal died because of their lack of action. The two females that had the opportunity to do something decided that I didn't know what I was talking about, yes there is provincial laws and protocols that need to be adhered to, but sometimes situations change and actions need to be implemented immediately, this shows me that the funding for this organization and particularly the staff are not equipped or educated enough to handle specific situations. Next time I'll turn a blind eye because that's what they did me, I will not ever sponsor or donate to this particular organization again, a real shame because animals do need our help. Special shout out to Clarissa and Mina for making my experience dealing with you a complete waste of time
You know what gets me about the adoption centres at the Humane Society is that they want $550 to $600 to adopt a dog. Are you guys in the business to make money or to help a pet find a home. If they dropped their prices perhaps more people could affort to give them a home. It use to be around $300 and now I can not believe the prices. They are not helping people to adopt. Shame Shame!
I would like to say thank you to the staff at the Niagara SPCA, Welland location for their kindness. If not for their humane touch, my cat would have lost her life. If they did not make the additional inquiries needed, my sweet girl would not be home with us now. I wish I knew all of their names to thank them individually. 5 stars is not enough praise, and I am thankful your services are available.
On Oct. 31, I called to report a situation involving 2 aggressive dogs who are always at large in my neighbourhood interfering with people out walking. The dispatcher who took the information was absolutely wonderful. She listened to my concerns and showed very sincere empathy and understanding, and encouraged me several times to call back in if the situation is not resolved within a week. I was so glad I made the call, and so relieved that she supported my concerns. She is truly a credit to the Welland Humane Society, and an excellent choice for answering calls for service. Thank you for your professionalism and kindness in helping us keep our community safe.
In my lifetime, I have needed help ending 3 dogs and 2 cats lives. It was the hardest thing I had to do! But the people at the humane society were kind and helpful, They do a service for less money, it’s a job that needs to be done, no one wants to but they make it as comfortable you can be….
My friend and I were really looking forward to adopting these 3 Guinea pigs they had the guy at the front desk was super friendly and great, the environment for the animals was amazing especially for the cats but 2 ladies who were working as well were so rude to us and assumed a lot about us, we just wanted to know if we could possibly hold the Guinea pigs before adopting so that we know if we would connect to them but instead of her saying nicely we cant she went off on us and said no and u cant adopt u have to be 21 we won’t just hand out animals. We never told her our age or anything
To answer your reply I told her my parents and everyone in the household was aware and fine with it, I am in fact 22 I know I don’t look it and I was going to adopt them but her attitude towards us made me feel horrible and I’m just not sure if I can do that anymore. I already have 2 sweet boys and I wanted to add to the family.
Very clean place. Wow the dogs looked well taken care of, I find there's always a few dogs that need extra energy burnt off but here they all looked like manageable dogs. I walked in and every dog looked at me friendly and sat by the door. I left feeling like I wanted to take them all home, or build a home to have them all I'm so glad they offer volunteering and a few different jobs too. This place seems like a great place to choose your next family addition, worth checking out!
You have the nerve to write a review on some one that donates their time, to look after and feed and show love to lost and misplaced animals, and find them a new home, shame on you, get your self some help.they are doing a great job, and should be shown some respected, they are helping a lot of abused animals, donate funds in stead of criticize them,
Your child can legally be killed by dogs. Of your neighbor gas violent dogs and bite of kills your child or pet, there is no legal mandate to remove said anmials.
Amanda Elis is the director here, she refuses to deal with violence from animals.
I adopted a dog from Welland Human society. The dog and I where doing great until.joint problems developed. My vet said there was nothing we could do for him. His joints where deformed and in pain. They even took extra Xrays no charge because they can not believe it. Thankfully they didn't charge me! I was given the choice of them putting him to sleep or take back to Welland. I took him back. Now I am told that I wouldn't be able to adopted for over a year! I went to the adoption event at pet value and one of the dog walkers told the other volunteers that I couldn't adopt a dog! I went every week looking and was lied to. Don't wery Bill we will find you a dog. A knife was put in my heart. Big choice, The vet put my best friend down and get another dog or take back to Welland and be banned for returning him. Very lonely, sad and confused person!
Had to put a loved one down - most compassionate SPCA ive been to - options for pet cemetary, yurn with custom logo etc. Great place for adoptions! You can tell how they care the minute you walk in.
We adopted our Millie from the Welland Humane Society 3 1/2 years ago. We have loved every minute of having her. She was in her dog run when we first met her, snarling, barking and growling. One of the awesome volunteers there had put a note on the door reading 'don't judge me by how I behave in the crate' so we asked to have her out. If not for the volunteer that took the time to do that, we would have walked right by and missed out on the best dog ever! She passed away 6 weeks ago, and we will always miss and remember her. We are almost at the point of going back and adopting another dog. Thank You staff and volunteers!
Highly recommended Friendly staff and very clean. I dropped 3 female kittens but adopted one back with no problems. I have already recommend to a few of my neighbors how wonderful you facilitate was.
