Nigiri-Ya (Newmarket)

AVOID! Ordered takeout Monday and my salmon was EXTREMELY fishy. It we likely old fish that was provided to me. 36 hours later and I am now extremely ill with food poisoning.there are so many better spots in the area!

Edit for owner: appreciate the concern and that you are looking into it. I am not typically one to leave bad reviews but it was the fishiest pice of nigiri I have ever tried. I could not eat it. My order was lunch sushi combo B

It takes forever for the dishes to be ready. Teriyaki steak is cold and impossible to chew. Even food court sushi is better than this one.

This is a new addition to this neighborhood. The food is excellent, high quality and good sized portions. You definitely get your money's worth!

Ordered platters A&B to go before and finally when for a dine in to check out other cooked food. Was not impressed with the Tonkatsu.it supposed to be a pork chop that is thick and juicy.but was I got was a super thin rolled flat meat. Although it was 2 pieces, it wasn't enjoyable as it was super dried. Maybe I should just stick with sushi and sashimi from them.

This has quickly become mine and my husband's go to sushi place for dine in and take out! Fresh and delicious flavours, great friendly service, and reasonable prices.

I did takeout the other night, and chose the Roll Combo. I was really impressed how carefully the restaurant packed the food. The rolls were fresh, and tasty- exactly what I was looking for! I’ll definitely come back next time I’m craving sushi.

Initial review: Ordered a takeout and was pleasantly surprised. Quite decent casual/everyday sushi place - quality food, generous amount and nice presentation. Larger size miso soup and some rolls. Also included a bonus item. Will order again.

Update: Ordered again. We ordered sushi and bento box with steak (medium rare). When order was picked up we realized, that instead of a bento box we got a steak teriyaki (well done). My husband called the restaurant to see if they can fix the mix up and they said that bento boxes are only served for lunch. First, we ordered based on paper menu, that never stated that, second - the lady that was taking the order should have mentioned it. But things happen, we understand, so were expecting some solution. They offered to cook a new steak to make it medium, but refused to address the bento box situation. E.g. Apologize for confusion, make an exception this one time or at least reimburse the price difference or add an app to make up for miscommunication. Nothing was offered.

Sushi quality is good, other food (we tried steak teriyaki & curry) - so-so, customer service is poor. Will not come back.

One of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve been to in Aurora. The sushi and sashimi were so delicious. The people there were also very nice and helpful to choose from their signature rolls, some of which I was unfamiliar with. Smokey teriyaki salmon was so good. They also included fatty tuna sashimi in the box, which I really enjoyed. My kids loved the shrimp tempuras and tonkatsu. Would love to try more on their menu.

Came for lunch by complete chance and it was very good. The ambience is nice and the staff are friendly. The sushi was great; large portions for a lunch meal and the price is decent for the amount and quality of sushi you get. Would definitely come again.

Tried it last week. First time. Absolutely awesome. Had the shirashi and spicy salad. Both delicious. My new favourite sushi location in Newmarket. Gotta try it.

The food was awesome. I tried sushi sashimi combo and green nigiri roll, salmon oshi sushi. Fish was the most freshest I've eaten in years and rolls were perfect one bite size.

Pretty excitied on this brand new place. One of the best take-out sushi in the area for sure! Food is so fresh, friendly staff & reasonable price!

The experience at Nigiriya Aurora was very pleasant. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Restaurant was clean and inviting. We ordered the chef’s choice platter. Fish was very fresh and rolls were delicious. And spicy sashimi salad was very tasty.

Was visiting my in-laws in Newmarket and feeling bold enough to try a new place for takeout for two big families. Very pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. We tried Shrimp Oshi sushi, Aburi sushi, and Chirashi don. Everything was fresh and so tasty. Sushi pizza became my new favorite. Tempuras were crunchy and the spicy sashimi salad was beyond my expectations. Will definitely order again next time we visit here.
