LOVE this place the food tastes really good and the halwa puri always exceeds my expectations! Only gave 4 stars because in my opinion it’s a little over priced for the portion when you’re eating in either they should put the price lower or give more. I was SHOCKED when I saw the naans were $3+ for 1 but otherwise amazing!
We went for halwa puri and chai all the way from Milton unfortunately we were VERY disappointed with the service and the quantity of food that we got for the price tag. $13.99 plus tax will give you a measly portion of chanay, achar with a few onions, a dash of dahi, halwa soaked in sugar syrup and 2 puris. Don't expect any aalu ki sabzi. The chai cost us $3 and tasted like milky water. The milk wasn't even well boiled enough and didn't taste anything like doodh patti! The place was busy and when we went to pay we were charged twice for the teas which I had to go back and get a refund while the cashier made it seem that it was OUR fault! Never going back!
They don’t provide tap water as there is no jug but is unable to fill the water into the cup and bring it to the table. You are force to buy bottle water. Highly disappointed.
Water is a basic human right, I shouldnt have to pay for a bottle of water when I've asked to get a cup of water with my dinner. (This was dining in, NOT take out) Secondly, the staff is rude and not pleasant at all. Food was good, but the service has gone down in recent years unfortunately. It's very expensive to be paying for such garbage service.
Service here is fantastic, the servers and the fuy at the register are very friendly! In food we love their paaye and butter chicken. Not a fan of the bbq options here.
We went for breakfast this morning, the naans were great, the halwa and chana taste great but we also ordered lamb paya and it was a complete disappointment! The payas were half cooked and still had hair on! It needed to be cleaned properly
I am not from here, been to Scarborough for the first time I must say the 45 minutes drive was worth it. I wish we could get some good food in BC too. Totally loved their food and customer service. Especially brain masala and nihari.recommended.
Had the Halwa Puri here and it was really tasty. They serve it all day on the weekends which is a plus since a lot of other places only serve until a certain time on the weekends. Plus, the place is fairly priced and the channay are delicious as well combined with the Puri. Would highly recommend
If you wants to taste the real Pakistani/Indian authentic food in GTA, there's only one place comes to mind "Nirala Sweets & Restaurants" in Scarborough. If you have not seen a restaurant with an outstanding combination of good food and great customer customer service, this's the place to try. I can bet, you will never regret that you tried because I told you. Don't forget to share your experience with others.
I came today for the nihari and I was beyond disappointed. I feel like I was ripped off. I've had nihari here before the pandemic and normally one order feeds 3 people with enough tender meat. I don't know what happened today but there were only two small pieces of meat and the beef was tough. The gravy also wasn't their usual taste. The 2 small servings for $12.99 was not worth the price. If this is the quality I'm getting now then I won't be back. There's lots of other places with better nihari for better value as well.
One of the best restaurants in the GTA. Food quality is always incredible and the people who work there, especially the man who is always at the front (I think he is the owner) is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He remembers every customer and always greets so nicely. They also always give extra napkins/raita which most restaurants don’t do. Try this place if you haven’t already. 10/10
Really bad quality food. Seekh Kabobs had very little spices. Biryani was just mixed in some gravy. Chicken Karahi had uncooked chicken in it. Quite sad
I've lived in Markham area all my life. But Everytime I tried Nirala my experience has been bad. 5 years ago I did a fine in and ordered Bihari kabob I can tell you they don't know how to make bihari.
Today I tried their Halwa Puri & I can't explain you the feeling of getting ripped off than this picture. This you see is a 3 Person Halwa Puri. Paid around $30. I asked for crispy but it was soo soft and chewy. None the less there was no potato Tarkari, only Chana & Halwa which was for approx 2 ppl.
If you are looking for Halwa Puri. I strongly suggest try other places also.
Poor quality, quantity and taste. Their Haleem and Brain Masala did not taste good. Loaded with way too many spices and doesn't taste anything close to what you would expect especially Haleem. Lassi was just what you can make at home and nothing special. Halwa poori was ok but quantity was very small for the price. Also they don't have the potato with the halwa poori. My recommendation is to avoid this place as there are way better options out there. For people from Karachi you will be disappointed with their flavours. It tastes nothing like what you would expect.
I tried their chicken pulao today and it was absolutely delicious. After a long time now I have tasted a chicken pulao which is made to perfection with a right balance of ingredients and perfectly cooked chicken. The chicken just melts in your mouth. Amazing experience. Will be their forever customer now.
I've been coming here with family for years. Their nihari is the absolute best and everything is reasonably priced. It definitely isn't the fanciest place, but the food is delicious.
The taste that is closest to back home. The behind the counter people are so warm and welcoming. Loved the experience of having Halwa Poori and Brain Masala. Every single time they manage to satisfy the tastebuds.
The best restaurant I have ever visited in my life. Yummy Nihari and the best Halwa poori. The have the best cook and the best taste. I would recommend everyone to visit there once if you are looking for real pakistani food.
This restaurant is my first choice site. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. Whenever I want to go to a proper breakfast, this restaurant comes right away to my mind.excellent and diverse food and a large list of dishes.generous crew, and pleasant mood. Not less important, the cost is fair. I praise this spot with great pleasure.
I had worked here for four years. It was the best experience of my life I must say the golden period of my life working under the Best Souls and the World’s no 1 owners. I would say here with proud that Mr. Usman and Mr Malik both brothers have kept me like their own kid and I had never felt so safe working with them. I can blindly recommend any girl or boy to work here for their best future. Also, adding on talking about the taste and preparation of the food it has the best Halwa Poori and Pakistani food. Everyone must try once. Last but not the least May god bless the owners and their family and May god help them to reach the heights of sky.
Delicious puri and halwa! Chana was super flavourful, puri was crispy non-greasy (and separated by wax paper) and halwa was amazing …. Great service as well.made for a great Father’s Day Brunch.thank you Nirala Sweets! Highest recommendation!
I only get one dish when I order at Nirala and that is the veal biryani. This biryani is so full of flavour. Very different from other restuarants. Ive tried other dishes like karahi and kabobs which are okay. If you want good biryani then grab it from this place.
By Far the best Halwa Poori place! Drive down more than an hour for it and it’s absolutely worth it! Everything is soo good but The Halwa is a MUST TRY!
Horrible experience. We ordered samosas (chicken & beef) and they said 20 mins. We came after 25 minutes and still it wasn't ready and they said its because beef wasn't available and made me wait another 20 mins to make 1 more order of chiclen. They should have checked if they had inventory of all products before taking one's order and instead of making a customer wait.
This place has the best food! Atmosphere is chill and the staff is also really friendly. Everything that i tasted till now is great, specially Halwa Puri’s taste is amazing.
This restaurant offers fantastic service and yummy food. The best restaurant around here. The meals served quick and the rates are affordable. I recommend this place.
Have been there twice in Nirala. Every time it was soul-satisfying! Great tasting food with great hospitality! Amazing halal food for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was just out of the world! I would recommend all my friends and family to go and have this exceptional hospitality of Nirala.
Delicious food with very reasonable price and customer service was great too and specialy naans and very clean restaurant and respectful environment I Loved the halwa Puri
What can I say? I absolutely LOVE this place! I've been a very happy customer since they opened their doors and have seen the quality of their food and service always being the best! They pride themselves in what they do and it truly shows with the beautiful vibes, fun ambience, cleanliness, and their entire staff always greeting us with a smile from entry all the way to our exit. I literally drive all the way from Oshawa for their nashta! I have also attended events where their food was catered from Nirala and it was finger-licking good! Thank you for bringing halwa puri to the east end, and thank you for always greeting us with a smile on your face!
One of the best Pakistani restaurant in town always fresh and mouth watering taste no matter what you take. Nihari is better than Karachi’s (Sabri, Javeed, Mulla), Lahore’s Channa, veal palag, dal mash is our favourite.
Top of everything staff is always friendly and welcoming from owner to waiters everyone is very polite and attentive.
Last night was our first time we visited this good restaurant. But It is obviously not the last. We had great time with the good service, with the fine meal and fine drinks and with the comfortable pay. We will surely visit there in a short time.
Update: I went to Nirala today. I love the food no doubt but I realize today it’s so expensive. I had three naan with channa. I paid 30 bucks I feel like it’s so expensive. 3 naan and chana should not be 30 bucks. Disappointed, based on this I am moving my 4 star review to a 2 star.
I always give my reviews with three things in mind.food, service and environment.
Food first we went for breakfast had puri halwa and naan with nihari. Restaurant is little on spicy side. Food is not bad at all. I really like the naan better then puri halwa but over all good food.
Service was really good as well. Quick, respectful good people working there had no issues at all.
Environment is great, it’s clean and nice place to sit and have some quality time.
