Nomé Izakaya

Probably my favorite izakaya in Toronto. My friends and I always have the best time here and cannot stop eating their delicious food. Their oyster special (tues and wed) is amazing and my favourite dish is currently the tuna brioche (bomb!). They're often busy so a reservation is definitely recommended. Great vibes, great service, great drinks and great food!

The food was great. It seems like Nome has gotten better over the years.
The service tonight was immaculate.
The host greeted us very well. The restaurant was full but able to seat at the bar. The bartender, if I remember correctly, Michelle was awesome! Hope to be back there with fam and friends.

We’ve asked the server to help accommodate from 4 to 5 people, wouldn’t allow us to add a seat to our table and we asked about getting the corner table that fit 5 people. Told us they have a reservation already which we later saw only 3 people were sitting at that table. We were also rushed to leave when we haven’t finish all our food and half a pitcher of beer. Also asked the server for compensation for the inconvenience of not able to accommodate an extra seat, and never gave us a response. Food is mediocre at best.

One of my fave restaurants, the vibe is nice and the servers always have the best customer service!

Came here with a group of friends and we all loved the food. It’s a little pricey but the quality is great.

Had my doubts about authenticity- being in a mall setting. Turned out to exceeded my expectations.
Price point a bit high than regular a La carte sushi places. You’re paying for the ambience and location. Dj was playing old school r&b hip hop!
Food- 8/10. Portions were fair. Sauces were good, maybe a bit too sweet (bulgogi taco & sauces on sashimi salad). Not over powering tho. Salad could use more lettuce

Service- 9/10. Fast except them forgetting 1/12 peoples food. They comped it though. Friendly. 90 min max seating

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING PLACE!

Food is excellent. It is unique, delicious and portion is great! We had OYSTERS like 40 pieces, Japa-Burger was juicy and portion is big, Chicken Wings was tasty, Sashimi was fresh and clean, Crispy Pork Belly was out of this world and Salmon Sushi roll was the bomb!

We always go here for oysters. We love, love, love this place!

SERVICE was outstanding. Team are fast, quick and very very courteous and responsive. So much respect for them.

Washroom is clean and smells good.

Parking is a bit challenging cause spots near the restaurant are always full but the plaza have a parking spot for all customers so still a great place to bring your car. And no fee.

Will highly recommend this place. Thank you for giving us a pleasant experience ALWAYS.

Came here for dinner. We’ve been a few times and honestly really good food. Even though the wait list was long we got a table sooner than expected. The service was quick and efficient and food was amazing.

I had a wonderful birthday dinner here! They accommodated me to sit at the bar because I came alone. The bartender was an absolute gem, she was super quick to take all three of my orders and serve me. The $1 oysters literally made me night and were fresh and delicious- completely melted in my mouth. The mac and cheese was done to perfection, crispy at the top and thick and creamy inside with al dente noodles. The whole team made me feel so special and thank you for a wonderful meal

Dope spot for a Friday night! We were seated at the bar as walk-ins, and we thoroughly enjoyed the space! Ordered the seared salmon sushi, tiger shrimp and spicy ribs. Got a Mango frosty and and Sapporo beer, which blended well with the meal. Amanda and Madison were amazing customer service reps, who gave us wonderful recommendations and got our orders into us right away, despite a very busy Friday night! Definitely recommend:)

Loved the presentation & Food quality and uniqueness. Service was outstanding with good guest interaction & suggestions. The value and portion size is ok. Kindly double check your itemized bill as there as already a 20% service charge & accidentally added 100$ tip on top of that. My bad…

I want to start off by saying I always tip, even if the service is horrible and the staff is rude I always tip because I feel awkward not to although I don’t like. But I seriously did not tip for the first time in my life. I will never come back here, the ambiance is good, the food is overpriced and half good half no. But the staff, omg the staff is so careless. They don’t check up on you, they don’t ask you if you need anything. The soy sauce was done and I asked for it to be replaced and she said “you have soy sauce on the table” and I said it’s done.the answers are just ready to be said, not listening at all. I ordered 3 plates of food with my friend to try out the different types, and I was having my last bite of my sushi and the waitress just collects my sushi plate (the empty one) but the weird part is he’s standing there to take my small plate as I’m chewing my food.like what is going on buddy what’s the hurry and rush. I couldn’t even sip on my water and he took it! It was as if they were saying ok just leave.the waiters are definitely all in there early 20’s, very careless and we’re always in groups talking at the back. The waiters is what made this place suck and the service. The ambiance of the restaurant is good, however I felt like I was at a McDonald’s fine in as opposed to a place like this. Just felt so off.

Everything we ordered was tasty and came quickly but service was kind of slow throughout. The honey bread dessert was delicious.

I think they were under staffed and disorganized. I ordered a cocktail, had to check on it twice, and the food still came before my drink did. Super annoying - cocktails are supposed to keep you busy while you browse the menu/wait for food. Another thing that super turned me off was that they gave us our oyster seasonings in take out plastic cups… which seemed cheap and distasteful for restaurant standards. The menu was great and so was the food, and the staff were very nice although they brought everything in wrong order and there was long wait times. I wouldn’t refuse to go here again, but it certainly wouldn’t be a first choice. It’s a three.

Edit: Came here for a second time and it was almost a five. East coast oysters were amazing! Sashimi was also great. Drinks came on time, and service was excellent. I guess it depends when you come cause this time was perfect, whereas last time wasn’t.

We got 4 dozen oysters for $1 oyster night lol. It was worth it. I'd also recommend the tiger shrimp and apple salmon roll. The spicy shrimp roll was also really good. Also great service at this location. There's always a server coming by to see if you need help and they proactively asked about split/shared bills so it was easier to pay at the end. There's a 2 hour seating limit but around 11pm it gets super empty so they don't enforce that rule too much

Probably one of the only places that we will go that always makes our mouth craving more! The staff is always quick and friendly. The food is always great! Remember that there is a 2 hour limit for seating.

Their oysters and sauces are always amazing, Mac and cheese is incredible, only thing I’m not a fan of is the lobster fantasy roll. You can barely taste the lobster it’s just tastes soggy deep fried batter. Will definitely return for the Mac n cheese though!

Food was alright, service could of been better, it was busy but not overwhelming and our waitress didn't check up on us. Blah.

Quick service and kind servers. The restaurant is clean and lively although a bit tight and smaller than you'd expect. Everything was exceptional! Recommended dishes are:
- Oysters
- Japa Burgers
- Aburi Salmon Donburi (You can taste the smokiness!)
Sushi rolls are expensive but massive! If you love oysters, I'd recommend coming on Tuesdays or Wednesdays for buck a shuck. Their East Coast oysters are fresh, tasty and succulent.

My wife and I are frequent customers of the branch at the Yonge & Sheppard location and we truly enjoy going there. This week, we invited a friend to meet us at the Don Mills location but were disappointed with our experience. They have a two-hour seating limit, which we have no problem with, but they were unprofessional in implementing it.

I had booked a 6pm reservation but our friend got there 10mins early and she was already seated when we arrived at the appointed time. We ordered and enjoyed the food and it was great as we've been accustomed to expect. However, at exactly 7: 08 on my watch, we were surprised when the server delivered in the most unempathic way a stern warning, "just letting you know, it's the last call for this table".

We asked why and she said "the orders stop about 30mins before the 2 hour limit". I said we had a 6pm reservation and that we should have more time. She said that a timer was started when they seated our friend and the front desk signalled her to tell us of the "last call" notice "because we have other reservations". When it was evident that we were upset, she said she'd talk to the front desk about it.

Two minutes later, the other waitress came to our table and told us that the last call warning has been extended for our table to 7: 30pm. I pointed out that there was no need to extend it because it is supposed to be that way but, before I could pull up the confirmation email on my phone, she had to leave and serve another customer. We paid the bill and left.

Next day, I emailed my complaint to the restaurant. It's been three days and still no response. We're not going back and neither are my friends. These guys need to learn how to treat customers right.

We waited for 30 minutes and I tried calling for servers but no one even talked to us. We were raising our hands but we got nothing.

Service was great, but dishes were very average. This location had limited menu items, restaurant did not have sashimi for dinner.

There are better izakaya options out there.

Loved the food! Hand rolls and the spicy mac and cheese and tiger shrimp were to die for. Definitely need to go back and try more items. Atmosphere was a vibe, watching the raptors game while listening to drake. The service was second to none, what definitely stood out is all the servers worked as a team, so you were always taken care of and not waiting on one individual.

Love the place.been here many times, i highly recommend it.also love and enjoy the shuck a buck Tuesday and Wednesday.

Came here with my friend on a weeknight. Staffs were friendly and nice environment to hang out with friends and family. The food is only average and over priced. Ordered fried chicken with honey garlic sauce (the chicken has no flavour which the sauce become very important, however, the sauce taste awful. You can find better fried chicken somewhere else!). Baguette baked oyster (not bad, but we almost couldn't find the oysters) marinated short ribs (lack of flavours and brunt, kinda taste like beef jerky), spicy shrimp rolls (I would suggest to avoid it if you're a sushi lover like me) and Jade fox cocktail (it's pretty good, very refreshing). Don't think I will come back.

Awesome place! Been going to this place for almost 3 years now. We keep coming back, the food is DELICIOUS! The team is amazing and so friendly, they’re always busy but they never disappoint.

Delicious food and drinks. Friend spilled some sauce on her blouse and servers were kind enough to help. We had $1 oysters, japa burgers, gyozas, yam fries and spicy shrimp sushi. Outdoor patio has lots of space.

It's my first time to have dinner at this location. The $1 oyster is a really good deal, we have a choice to try both kinds of oysters. Very fresh. The appetizers and the rolls are good.

NOT IZAKAYA AND NOT FUSIAN JAPANESE OR JAPANESESAVE YOUR MONEY

The rolls only look pretty but tastes so dissappointing, they're worth $10 at most, not $20. The BBQ pork was super tough and hard to chew, made with grocery store Korean sauce. Chicken Karage is Chicken Karage. The moment I saw that Chef's Reccomendations were Mac and Cheese Dishes, I wanted to step out. But due to respect to my friends, I choose to just order some "Japanese" items. Outcome was extreme disappointment.

FOOD POISONING ALERT! Hospitalized for eating the oysters! I went there with my lady for the buck a shuck and had a weird experience on how the waitresses were dealing with me. I had five different servers because they say everyone can help, but then forget your order or request. I doubt the servers were concerned with the safety of the food as I seen them handle burgers and raw oysters with the same order. Save your money and your stomach and DO NOT GO HERE!

This place is absolutely amazing from the friendly staff to the amazing food you just can't go wrong going here for a good night out.it's a must try.

Worst service I’ve experienced at a restaurant. When we got seated the hostess and waitress both told us that they were out of the tiger shrimps and beef sliders (my favourite items) and that we couldn’t order them. As we order our food and start eating our waitress walks across the patio with the beef sliders in her hands walking towards another table. I asked the hostess and she said “ management told us to reserve the sliders for reservations only” ridiculous. And a few moments later when our waitress came i asked her so u guys have the sliders because i just saw u serve them, which to she responds we didn’t have them and now we do… horrible. Our waitress then switched over to another table and send someone else over to take care of us the rest of the night. Food was awful too. Burnt beef ribs and got our sushi roll order wrong

Worst Service Ever. We booked a table for 9.15pm and when we got to the table the server didn't look too interested in serving us. We weren't greeted properly and then it suddenly started raining and since the patio was open no one cared about their guests but just their menus that were placed onto the table.they were clearing the menus then the food on the table
There wasn't any host at the counter either.
Apparently it's a good place for food but hospitality sucks.

Service was abhorrent, server/waitress etiquette was unpleasant. No communications. Servers/waitress are weak and unable to multitask. 5 servers/employees to a table of 10-11 and the only focus was towards 2 tables.

By far the worst service I have ever received for takeout. First time, ended up waiting over an hour for them to only have us waiting even longer because they messed up our order. Assumed it was a bad day for them but once again the second time, waited over an hour for them to mess up my order again and no compensation for the inconvenience. Never this location again.

Great experience, The barista drinks are one of the best I've ever tasted. The food was good. I had oysters and monkish tacos tonight and had a pleasant evening with their service. I chuck my oysters and know how its like. They chuck them good!

It's been a long time since I last ate at Nome (Yonge). My friends and I decided to dine at Nome on a Friday early evening. The seating time is limit to 2 hours, which was a reasonable amount of time to sit, order and eat, and chat. The waiter was good, she would check up on us and refill our water jug.
However, I was disappointed at several things, the foods were in take-out containers, my order took the longest compared with what my friends ordered, and the quantity of protein per dish (the ones I ordered).

I first ordered a California Style Donburi because I am familiar with the dish at other restaurants. My order came last, and if you were to read the description of the dish, all it was was salad, rice, and fresh fish in a bowl compared with others who need more work to their dishes e.g. Deep frying. The amount of fresh fish (tuna and salmon) they give you in the bowl was ridiculous because it was approx ~1/4c scoop give or take. But what I have enjoyed out of this dish was the spicy mango salad which was in a small amount.

I also decided to order takoyaki *the only picture I took* (5 deep-fried octopus balls) because the donburi was not enough to satisfy my appetite. I ate about 2.5 takoyakis because the sauce was not the greatest, and get this, the amount of octopus per ball has two pieces. BUT.per piece was less/or equal to 1cm in length. You're probably getting one small tentacle in total for $7.50 and the rest of it was just dough.

My friends ordered Monkfish tacos, which was not bad. I have only tried the monkfish alone and not the whole taco. I have tried a few bites of the Mac and Cheese - it was sort of spicy, and the Gyoza with Cream Sauce - was not bad as well.

Out of all the foods that I have tried that evening, I would rank in this order from good to worst: Monkfish, Gyoza, Donburi, Mac n Cheese, and Takoyaki.
Would I come back? No.
I would suggest it because everyone's tastebuds and preferences are different, and it doesn't hurt to give it a try.

I had visit this location for many times with excellent experience, so I decided to offer my friends come here for today, I had appointment at 11.45pm, I arrived at 11.30pm, one of staff said with me I had 2 options, one is sit inside one is waiting for the outside table, so I said I wait for a nice table is outside table. And I had wait til 11.56pm and we sat down, I order for 3 dozens, 2 burger, 2 tiger shrimp and I ask for a few minutes for more order because we know that 12am is the last order, but pne of the girl who take my order said she will give us 5 minutes for the order, and then she walk-away, and wait and wait and wait for she came back for our order, and I ask another girl for order, and she said kitchen is close, I said the sever said with me wait her 5mins and she will come back for my order. However, recently sever said that she will try to talk with the kitchen, after 10 mins she came back and said with us, kitchen is close she cannot communication with kitchen, and she confirm our first order, we understand for it and said it is ok. Then 3 dozen of oyster come out, 2 burger come out, and wait wait wait for the tiger shrimp, until I ask the server for our tiger shrimp, he come inside check then come out and said with us the tiger shrimp they forget to order or something so we don’t have our tiger shrimp, excuse me, your server already confirm the order and now you said is not go through? Missing my order 2 times? I’m fell so bad with my friends because offer your restaurant with so perfect experience and now they received a worst experience

Probably the best sliders I've ever had. Soooo good. Oysters are nice too with a great selection of sauces. I will back!

Tried the don mills location yesterday for take out, they do buck a shuck on Tues and Wed dine in or at home as a DIY kit.ordered 2 dozen oysters and my girlfriend asked the hostess to confirm if the buck a shuck applies to take out and she immediately said "no" in a very confident manner. Anyways I didn't want to argue with her and decide to pay regular price I guess. We waited 30 mins until we went back to the restaurant to pick up our food only for the hostess to tell us that a buck a shuck does actually apply for take out if we buy the diy kit. Obviously that's what we wanted in the first place and ended up wating another 20 mins for the restaurant to prepare our "food". Kinda lengthy time to just throw 2 dozen un-shucked oysters in a bag.

I mean maybe there was low staff cause of covid 19 so thats understandable.

Finally got my food, went home and counted 14 oysters when I ordered 2 dozen (24). Missing 10 oysters which is a huge difference.

My girlfriend called the hostess and told her about the situation, she asked if I wanted to come back for a dozen or have future credit at the restaurant. We chose the future credit option and the hostess jotted down my name and number to "say she'll contact me for further information". However I had received no reply at all and an email was sent later on to nome izakaya's main email to also not get any reply whatsoever.

Very disappointed with the customer service and had higher expectations as I enjoyed my times at the North York location in the past. Hopefully my next visit will a better experience

On the bright side.my girlfriend enjoyed the sashimi salad

There are a few things that amounted to this low rating as well as the fact that I will be NOT recommending this restaurant.

(1) Reservations: It was very difficult to make reservations and if you did manage to make reservations online, it is very difficult to change it. The online reservations system was not working. I tried call many times, but no one answered the phone. Due to the lack of response, I physically went into the restaurant to alter the reservations. However, when we arrived for dinner, the reservations was not updated or changed as I requested, so there was insufficient seating.
(2) Poor and Slow Service: The servers were not very attentive and very disorganized. They barely checked on us. The orders were very difficult to place. They even forgot an order, which we specifically ordered with food restrictions due to allergies. Then when it came to getting the bill, it was so disorganized.
(3) Food Poisoning: We were enticed by the buck-a-shuck deal. However, the oysters were not the freshest. I got food poisoning from the meal when I got home. As a result, I definitely will not be returning or recommending this restaurant!

I really enjoyed Nomé. I had heard really great things about this place, especially their deal with buck a shuck oysters, but i always missed out on it. I was really glad to have been able to go. I did like the fusion Japanese themed foods. It was more pub/themed bar restaurant than an authentic izakaya, but I still appreciates the western spin to it. Alcohol was a bit pricy but considering the location that's no surprise. The food was delicious and was a shareable style. I liked that everyone could order multiple things and be able to try a bunch of stuff. Service was quick but I did not like the 2hour seating limit. I appreciate that the place is small and that they do get a lot of foot traffic, but for a place where you have "Izakaya" in the name, you can't really sit back and drink/eat leisurely when you're expected to leave within 2 hours. They had sports playing and we did have to leave despite wanting to still drink and chat. But I get that it's a business and people need to move on. Despite that, food and atmosphere were great and I'd go back.

The food is AMAZING here.drinks not so much. It is typically very busy. Get your reservations ahead of time!

Authentic Japanese dishes. Be warned though dishes were small but were worth the price in my opinion. On a scale of 1 to Japanese. Just search the premice of "that anime show about cooking".

Had oyster last night. Had food posion and Puked until 5 am. Great services but not for raw foods.

Absolutely fantastic every time. Never fails to impress. The quality of their food, the ingredients, the flavours- it's a sure fire way to go on a journey that will leave you utterly speechless.

Amazing food and service! My fiance and I went there on Valentine's Day, so the place was understandably crowded. After initial seating, we asked to move to a quieter table away from the speakers. The server made that happen fairly quickly, which was nice. At first we were confused by the small portions the food comes in, but it ended up being surprisingly filling. I'd recommend this place for special occasions.

This is one of my favorite spots in the area, burger sliders, samurai crunch salad, and bulgogi tacos are all amazing. Cant recommend it more!

Best sliders I ever tried. I will go again just to eat sliders and nothing else. I was a bit sad seeing sushi rolls like that, it wasn’t tasting as I expected. Chicken wings were good and good hot sauce. Service was good too, any server will take care of you during your visit, they work as a team. All alcoholic cocktails can be made virgin, very good lychee cocktail.

This place is in the shops at Don Mills plaza and I've heard some racing reviews so was looking forward to trying them. The service was slow, although is was busy, no one stopped to ask us really if we needed anything. Also, the recommendation for the deluxe salmon sushi didn't live up to its hype. Maybe it was an off day? Not sure, but I think it's worth a try because the menu is unique and food is fresh.

Great atmosphere, staff were all gracious hosts, and the food is top notch. This spot is the perfect mix of happening but chill, for your dinner and drinks.

Took wrong order. They kinda of insisting to give us the food when we didn't order it. They also gave the wrong bill and wasn't apologetic at all. Overall service was not good.

Went to the Don Mills location with a few friends for buck-a-shuck night and we were not disappointed with their selection of oysters! Great ambiance, although it can get really loud during peak hours, and you might have to wait a bit longer for your server to get to you so you can order more food. Other than that, great food deal in TO!
